PLEASE tell me this is normal!!!!
You are SO VERY NORMAL hun. Really, you are!! Everyone of us who have had the surgery went through this....it is such a "hit you with a reality check" sensation!!! It is nerves and your adrenaline pumping through you with the "fight or flight". You know what you have to do and its all so scary, but it will be okay and tomorrow when you wake up from your surgery, you will say to yourself...ok, heres what I am going to do...WALK as soon as possible.....WALK WALK WALK...as much as you possibly can... You are worth it and you can do this!!! Its time to take charge of your life and your health!!! YOU GO GIRL!! DEanna p.s. It wasn't but a little over a month ago that I was doing this EXACT same thing in my head!!!!!

the NEW you and OLD Drivers Licenses?
My license says I weigh 150...they have never question that. I need to lose 150 so I am not sure how they end up not asking me about my weight... I am just glad they dont. Some of these stories are just great!!! I love that idea of not being able to recognize someone because they have lost weight and having to show that scars and loose skin..HAHAHAHA!!! LOVE IT!!! Could you just see the cop at home that night..."Oh, honey you should of seen what I saw today!!"Deanna

Went in for first fill..but NOOOOOO
Hi all, went yesterday for first fill but didnt get one. They said I was doing so good that they wanted to ride it out and see if they could get away with not filling me for as long as possible. I was quite dissappointed until I got home and realized that is the best thing. If I can lose this much weight without fill then I should continue on and see how much more I can lose without any fill. I guess I am a little upset thinking that I could of done this without surgery, but then I realize that is the lie sneaking up on me and I could NOT do this without surgery. I could lose the weight, just not keep it off. Has anyone else not got a fill and not gained back a lot of the inital weight loss. I explained that I was getting hungry every 3 hours and they said that was perfect. I thought it was every 4-5 that was good. Deanna

Up 2lbs!!! - is this usual?!
I went in for my first fill, or so I thought, and came home without one. She said I had lost so much weight that they wanted me to keep going for as long as I could without doing a fill. She did point out my port to me though...right where I thought it was....I can feel it plain as day. So, now I have to wait another month to go back....I really really hope I can stay in control and keep this weight off and lose some more. I didnt gain any weight going to mushies but I can see how that can happen easily. THEY TASTE SO DANG GOOD!!! After drinking for so long...I really think you will be fine..you are not restricted from the surgery anymore and the swelling is down so you can eat more...Good luck...Deanna

Has anyone taken up Bycyling?
Yes, DH and DD and I bought new bikes...not the expensive kind just Schwinns from KMart, and we are riding on average 5 miles a night..sometimes more sometimes less. I am so happpy with myself after I am done. There is a hill by my house that I had to walk up when I first started, but now I can bike all the way up it. I love it!!!I almost cried when I did that. Today I rode to video store instead of driving...a 4 mile trip. I love that I can ride to stores and get small things and not waste gas. Deanna

I tried this last night and it was really good. Even my 12 yo ate it!!!! Now that has to be good!!!! Water 1 1/4 c. lentils 1- 14 oz. tomato sauce 1 package taco seasoning 1 c. cornbread mix (see recipe below or you could use 1/2 box Jiffy corn bread mix, but it will be higher in fat and sugar and lower in Fiber than the homemade mix) 1/2 c skim milk 2 T. egg substitute ( or egg whites) 2 c. grated mozzarella cheese Heat oil in 3 qt pan over medium heat. Shrinking Violets -- April 07 Bandsters
Angie...that is A LOT compared to reading other peoples fill...I hope the weight starts falling off now for you...Did you get any post filling instructions on what to eat or what not to eat? I am loving the loose clothes and skinnier facial features that I am having...sometimes I THINK I am skinnier that I actually am, and when I get a look in the mirror I am horrified that I am that fat still....I hope that mentality sticks with me forever...It helps with self esteem to THINK you are skinnier than you are...hubby can get arms around me and touch his elbows with his opposite hands....we are definitely improving here in Idaho...Talk to ya all later...thanks for all the updates on the fills. I am going to take my camera and see if the nurse will let me take pictures...that might be interesting for those who are soon to be filled...she probably wont let me...but I cant always try...Deanna

UGH! had to get a complete unfill!
Hope you are feeling better and that shows how important it is too really pay attention to what your body is doing and get help right away...Deanna Thanks for posting about this....I think most newbies think stuff like this only will happen AFTER a fill....

Gas pain
llowe...something an ER doc told me to do... Get on all fours....lower your head down to ground...support your stomach and chest with pillows, leaving your butt up in the air. This seems to let out alot of gas pressure that is built up under rib cages and from sleeping in recliners...that is what I did and I felt better immediately..I have had MANY MANY private messages telling me thank you for posting this, it has helped a great many people...I think it works for some and maybe not for others...its worth a try. Deanna

Tracy...its nice to have a pizza twin...LOL...you girls need to find someone to respect you and love you for you...I would never wait 10 years for someone..if you are good enough to be with now then why not forever...that is my opinion...Have a great day girlies...I LOVE the butterfly tattoo...I was thinking about getting one of those myself...I want it on my lower back though...Deanna

Shrinking Violets -- April 07 Bandsters
GR8FUL GAL, THANK you for posting all the hairy details about the fill. I think it helps knowing what is coming and how they do it. Hmmm, I wonder if we all have 1 cc in there already? Do you notice any difference? I think I will not eat either, just for the reason that you said though...WW and weighing in NEVER EAT BEFORE WEIGHING IN!!! That reminds me of one WW meeting I went to there was this gal who was like .5 or 1 pound away from goal, so she went into bathroom took off her underwear and bra and made goal!!! Update on pizza night...I ordered a Delite(which is thin crust) from Papa Murphy's...thats a take and bake type store for those who dont know...and we ordered a large...WHICH preband we ALWAYS ordered TWO...yes I said TWO family sized pizza's....I had to make sure that I got all that I wanted...so we ordered a large for me, DH and DD...and I had one piece..small bites, chewed good...and then I waited for a bit and then had another piece only this time...I didnt finish the second piece..the doggies got half of it...and they were LITTLE pieces too....I threw a piece AWAY TOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WHAT???????/ Throw good pizza away????????? OH YES I DID...and you know what...WHO CARES??? I dont want it...I am not thinking irrational thoughts about "I can't wait until everyone is in bed so I can sneak out and eat six pieces of pizza while no one is looking...." I don't have that feeling..It is like I am at peace with the pizza...I know that I probably won't be able to have it after a fill and I am totally okay with that. It does not have a hold on me after all.....This band thing is GREAT!!! LOL...have a nice night all you beautiful violets... Oh, and I just wanted to say sorry to all of you who cant have solids yet...I hated reading food stories when I was on liquids... I am SOOOO happy to never have to "DIET" again...!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It feels sooooo good....and liberating.....Deanna

LOL...maybe you could be the Lapbandit Abby.... Laura...How exciting...I got married in the court house 14 years ago, so I didnt get any of the hoopla....I wish I had.... Tracy...WOW...I say, DO WHAT YOUR HEART SAYS!!!!! He is 6 and he will get over drama, but you have to do what you think is best for him...sounds like he is your hero... What is everyone doing for Memorial Day? Anything special? We will probably go camping and boating...IF GAS PRICES STAY WHERE THEY ARE!!!! I am ordering pizza for dinner tonight and plan on having the toppings maybe the crust...has anyone had pizza yet? I am not going to diet anymore in my life. If I want to eat a piece of pizza, I am going to let myself and NOT feel guilty....Pizza is food, food is life, life is good!!! Deanna

Shrinking Violets -- April 07 Bandsters
So for those of you who have HAD a fill...did you eat regularly up until the fill time? Or did you be careful what you ate fill day? I go Monday for mine, and I dont want to eat if I am not suppose to. I dont mind doing the Unjury chocolate "shake" so it wont bother me too much the first few days of liquids...Angie, you probably arent losing as fast because you are below 200 to begin with. Seems like when I was dieting when I was "thinner"...thinner means under 200...it came off A WHOLE LOT slower....I have lost 35 since April 5 on two week pre op diet...I am feeling very lucky but then again I started at 305.5.....OH MY!!!! I am moving around and no knee pains anymore and I am LOVING life again!!!!!

People Magazine - 1/2 Their Size Issues
Maybe the reason we never see updates 5 years down the road because these people are embarassed to be seen again after they gain all the weight back. Granted, I know there are so really "WILLPOWER" strong people out there and some of them probably have kept off the weight..but the majority I bet hasnt. Deanna

Are gas prices causing anyone to change their driving habits???
Yes, I agree. Just sad, sad, sad. I just wonder what the people who are barely making it as is are doing.
