  1. There is a really good thread that goes into this also in the Lounge...right about the Rants and Raves thread. The name is something like Adult Warning....Rated XXX...can't remember the name now but it was started back in 2006 and has LOTS of replies to it
  2. Monica, I understand your thoughts behind not exercising until you are under a certain weight, but you are going to be losing massive amounts of muscle if you don't exercise. You need to start exercising now to maintain the muscle that you DO have now, and make exercise a part of your life forever. You are going to lose more muscle than fat without exercise. Sure you will lose weight, but most of it will be muscle. So when you get down to 200 you are going to have less muscle and more fat on your body compared to if you started exercising now, you would have less fat, more muscle. Does that make sense. Just do it. Don't worry so much about what the scale says. It's just a number. Go by how you feel and look. I am now wearing clothes that I had to be 15-20 pounds lighter before, but because I have leaner muscles now, I am smaller at this weight than before when I did Weight Watchers and did no exercise. I would way rather have a bigger number on the scale and be smaller that vice versa....think about it and then do some research. Deanna
  3. One 15 1/2 oz can black Beans, drained and rinsed 1 lb. lean ground beef(90% or higher) or ground turkey breast 1 large egg, beaten 1 cup shredded part-skim mozzarella cheese 1/3 cup seasoned bread crumbs 1/2 tsp. garlic powder Preheat grill to medium. Place the beans in a large bowl and mash with the back of a large spoon until smooth but still a bit chunky. Add the beef, egg, cheese, bread crumbs and garlic powder and mix until well combined. Divide the beef mixture and shape into 8 patties. Place the patties on the grill and cook until no longer pink inside and an instant read thermometer registers at least 160 degrees F., about 4 minutes each side. Top with shredded lettuce and your favorite salso and enjoy!! Each patty 200 calories 21 g. Protein 8 g fat 11 g carb 8 g Fiber Again I got this recipe from the New U Clinic in Idaho Falls, Idaho where I go to talk with fill R.N., dietitician, and exercise physiologist. I have not tried it, but it does sound good.
  4. Speaking of mountain biking. I decided that I was just a fit as ever woman and decided I would take my bike and DH up on a pretty smooth hard dirt trail up in the mountains. I was all siked up and ready to go. Full of energy and raring with enthusiam. Well, not even a mile into this trail I can't even breath. It is too uphill and I just can't do it. There are some rocky areas as well, and my bike is not doing well. I turn around and go back. I am disappointed in myself for thinking that I was in that good of shape to be able to do this. I have not been riding that long and still have a lot of weight to lose, so I know this is a huge let down to myself. Hubby says...three months ago you wouldn't even of left the house to try something like that, so it is a huge accomplishment really!!! What a nice guy!! I felt better after that... Deanna
  5. I also have one that just covers my nose but not my mouth. I like it a lot too.
  6. HI all, I went to see the exercise physiologist yesterday and he tole me some great things. First, he said that biking was THE BEST cardio ever. Better than walking. No stress on joints at all. He said that if he could get everyone who starts on WLS journey to get a bike and ride it everyday they(the WLS clinic I go to) would have the number one success rate in the country. So I guess that is a NSV for me, since that is my favorite thing to do... Second he talked with me about strength training. I was a little concerned about adding weight and adding weight as the smaller weight became too easy, but he set me straight on a few things. 1) Testosterone is what builds massive, huge muscles. Women do not have that kind of testosterone in their bodies, so it would be impossible to buile huge muscles. 2) If you can do more that 12 reps in a set of weights then you need to add a bit more weight. These were a few things that I didn't realize and thought I would share with you. Deanna
  7. That is so funny you mention WOW, the other night when dh and I were riding there was a van pulling a trailer that had that on it!!! I didn't write down the number, but was eyeing that trailer!!! That is sooooo cool!!! We went 16 miles last night and boy oh boy could I FEEL a difference from the 10 miles we usually do!! I was soooooo sore, during the ride even. My ass felt like like it was on fire!!! That was weird, I havent had that kind of numbness since first starting. And another car driving by with screaming people in it. BOY you gotta love that!!! Makes me just wanna hit someone!! Deanna
  8. That is so cool Juli. Where are you going? Is it like a club? Have fun!!! Deanna
  9. I thought the strawberry unjury was the NASTIEST think ever. I ordered a big container of the chocolate because everyone raved about the taste. It smelled good when I opened it. I tried it and it is really not that good. But I am not sure if it is just me or the soy or whey that is in it that I am not used to. I didn't even use the whole container because I found some really yummy already made shakes that I found at Albertsons. I am not remembering the name of the shake right now, but you could search my posts and find it. They were YUMMY in my opinion and tasted like a shake. Good luck on finding the right one, and remember you won't likely be on the protein shakes for long. Deanna
  10. Awe, thanks green. I didnt really think of it that way. Thanks..Deanna
  11. To sue the surgeon you would have to prove that he was neglegent. You also probably signed a release stating that you KNEW of all of the complications that could arise from having this surgery. I am NOT saying that the doctor is not negligent, so please, no one jump down my throat. I am just saying that you would have to prove that. I am proud to say I know someone who is NOT about suing when something goes wrong medically. That is a BIG statement in this day and age. Gosh, just think of all of the people who used to "get bled" when they had something wrong and died. You are one heck of a woman in my eyes to be able to even "think" of getting rebanded let alone with the same surgeon. You are courageous!!!! Good luck, and please let us all know what you decide to do in the future. Deanna
  12. Well, went to the bbq and in laws were having a squabble I guess, since they didn't talk to anyone much. FIL ate and then went inside to watch tv. MIL talked to us SIL's and no one else knows in the family so MIL didn't bring it up. One of my SIL's kept telling me how beautiful I was getting, but no one said anything about my weight loss. I don't know if they secretly know???? and were told NOT to let me know they know??? I don't know, but last time I saw them I was 50 pounds heavier...how could they really not notice.....oh well, if they know they are doing a good job not letting me know they know... Deanna
  13. I bought the cannelini beans this week so now just to make them. I will do it THIS week for sure. Deanna
  14. Your welcome. I also made this and didn't put the cornbread on top and then used it for tacos. It was yummy!!! No meat tacos. Deanna
  15. I have stood up to him on a number of occasions and it gets me NOWHERE but ignored by them, which in turn they igore my hubby...which pisses me off.....lo and behold...she called this morning and invited us to a family bbq tonight. I HATE the thought of going, but for DH sakes I am afraid I will. I am just going to ignore him or say...you know, you would probably feel a lot better yourself if you got a bike and rode with MIL, and she would much rather ride with you than with me!! I don't know...just get sick of trying to PLEASE everyone and end up pleasing NOONE...Deanna
  16. Oh yeah!!! I am doing that too, but my DH is LOVING every minute of it. I can't stop and frankly think it is so much more awesome that McDonalds. LOL...never thought I would say THAT!!! In all seriousness, I have a very large increase in libido and it all has to do with increased self esteem and weight dropping off like melted butter. Also, I exercise every day and this gives me much needed energy and STAMINA to preform....A LOT MORE!!! I love it and I am glad that it is happening!! I had a pretty good sex life before, twice a week average. BUT NOW........HOLY SHIT.... I guess I SHOULD give poor dear hubby a rest...ONCE IN AWHILE... NOT!! Deanna
  17. YES GREEN!!! I love it. He is just the intimidating, overpowering, "I AM THE RULER" type that no one can say anything too. BUT, I am going to have to I guess. I think I will tell him next time that if she wants to go riding, I am sure she can do it anytime that she would like on her own. NO, NO, AND NO....I won't. I won't say anything but nod my head and look away and wish for a quick exit. I know that he made a comment about how pretty soon I am going to look like Twiggy and THAT would not be good. HELLO!!! I CAN LOOK ANYWAY THAT I WANT!!! I just hate that I can't stand up to him and tell him NO!! I am NOT going to take your wife. YOU TAKE HER!!! Maybe its time to stay away from them for awhile so I don't have to worry about the stress. Deanna
  18. I agree she smiles. I KNOW I would not have lost this amount of weight in two months without the exercise. I do cardio every day, 45 minutes plus. I do strength training every other day. YOU have to move to lose. I know that others have lost with out exercise but I always look at the little bit of food they are eating. I didn't get banded to DIET, I got banded to get healthy. I still want to eat, just good foods. I do not want to live on shakes for two meals a day and have one meal of food. I see this A LOT on the board. People are willing to "drink" their meals, I am NOT willing to do this. Good luck and get moving!!!! You won't regret it AT ALL!! Deanna
  19. I actually have not had a fill. I have an appointment for Monday the 25th, but she will NOT give me one. I have lost another 20 pounds since last month. She only gives fills if you are not losing. I lost 10 pounds on the pre op diet. Then 20 pounds the first month. Then 20 pounds the next month. It will work for you if you are honest with what you eat and eat clean. By clean, I mean healthy. EXERCISE IS THE KEY!! I hate to admit it, but it really is. I love it now, but HATED IT when I first started doing it. Deanna
  20. nume, I am sooooo happy that you talked about this situation with DH. That is the FIRST step to helping yourself. You are awesome and beautiful and I am so glad that you are feeling some relief and some tension is gone in your life. Deanna
  21. Hi all!! I have done the exact same things you all have done. Heaped up my plate sat down at table and then laughed!!! I am pretty good at how much I can eat now and I usually put the right amount on my plate. I still find it funny that after we eat dinner, it is not 10 minutes and hubby is looking for food and continues this throughout the res of the evening. Sometimes is pisses me off, but most of the time I am in complete amazement of how much food a person can shove in their mouths. The best part is that I used to be just like that ONLY worse than hubby!!!! Deanna
  22. OMG!!!!! Once again, last night, hubby and I invited in laws to the Greek Festival in town to eat, and by end of night riding our bikes came up and ONCE AGAIN FIL says, "You need to not go 10 miles and just go 2 miles so you can come get MIL and take her with you." OH MY GOD!!!! SHUT THE F>>>CK UP!!! If and that is a BIG IF..she wants to ride her bike...SHE IS A BIG GIRL AND CAN RIDE IT WITHOUT ME!!!!!! My DD bless her heart...is 12 and says to her grampa..."you need to get a bike and ride with gramma..." he then tells her, "in the summer time that is hard for grampa to find the time to do that"...oh my hell...BUT I AM SUPPOSE TO FIND THE TIME TO MAKE HIS WIFE RIDE HER BIKE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I want to freaking scream!!! It is too the point where I really don't even want to be around them...AT ALL!!! Deanna
  23. START NOW!!! You will feel great and have tons of extra energy and you are NOT going to gain pounds of muscle in a few weeks. It takes time to build enough muscle to GAIN weight from it. I started walking an hour or so out of surgery and have not stopped yet. I keep doing more and more and LOVE every minute of it!!!! Although I have gone on to better and bigger things than walking( because I find it boring now), getting ready to get out the roller blades that I have from SEVERAL years ago and get going on them again!!! I am sooooooooo for exercise. I can't tell you enough how much it has helped me in EVERY aspect of my life. I do not have a fill as of yet and I KNOW all the exercise has helped me with my weight loss. Good luck and GET MOVING!! Deanna
  24. You are doing just fine. Your band is wide open and you do not have "the hour glass" that you will have when you start getting fills. Your stomach is healing and the swelling from surgery is going down that is why you can eat more than you could at first. Just be sure to follow your doctors orders to the T!!!! He tells you them for a reason. Deanna Good job and congrats!!
  25. Liquid Tylenol is sitting on the shelf next to the pill form. If you can't find it, ask a pharmacist to help you find it. Deanna
