I'm from Norfolk, got sleeved with Dr.Terracina in Newport News. He's the director of baraitric surgery for Bon Secours with over 700 sleeves under his belt. He only does baraitric surgery. I am more than pleased with him. Had my surgery done Tuesday Nov. 5th. He staples you, then goes back and hand stitches you, then applies surgical snow (sealant) to your sleeve. I love him. I heard about Dr. Fontana, he came highly recommended from the surgeon that removed my gallbladder, I just couldn't get an appt. with him. Haven't heard about the surgeon you're asking about.
3. You can get them at Walmart now, I paid $6 and some change for a 4-ok (so about $19 for a 12pk and no membership cost).
4. I'm in a lot less pain that I thought of, as a matter of fact its more of a discomfort than pain. Went down at noon and was in the recovery room at 1:50pm. Nurses are saying that I am doing really well. I get my leak test in the morning and if everything pans out I'll start on Water & Proteins.
5. By this time tomorrow I will officially be on the losers bench. Had my last real meal yesterday at 5pm, started Clear Liquids this morning and planning to record myself gulping down my last glass of something (juice, Water etc.) at midnight since I won't ever be able to drink that much at one time again. Then its just the waiting until its time to get ready to head out the door. I'm as ready as I'm going to be, but I will tell you that Walmart was not the place to be today. I had to go shopping before tomorrow but I didn't realize how many tasty new things are out on the market...ha ha. I made it through and now I'm finishing up the last of the clothes so everything will be done. I can't wait!
6. Today is the day and I'm in route to the hospital. Really numb right now, just want to get this done with. Right now I would love a tall glass of Water.....but that's not in the cards for me. I'm making a video blog that I'm posting on YouTube and sparkpeople (wish I could post videos on MFP) recording my journey. www.YouTube.com/mswisdom2007 www.sparkpeople.com/mswisdom See ya'll on the losers bench.
7. I am so jealous of you at this moment (steak dinner...umm) lol But I can't really complain, today is the only day of preop that I had to do. Enjoy your meal....I sure did! See you on the other side.
8. I was looking at at link about states going forward in 2014 due to me have PCIP insurance and had to change plans. I've learned that Virginia is not one of the states that offer it. I clipped some of the info I found. " Which Obesity Services are Not Covered? As with any rule, there are exceptions. The same is true for obesity coverage. While obesity screening and counseling must be covered by all insurance plans, the determination of what those benefits constitute will be left up to the states. In general, most states will not cover weight loss treatments. Counseling, as outlined above, is not considered a treatment. However, these services are: Bariatric surgery, including gastric bypass and lap-band surgeries Prescription medications Medical (in-patient) weight loss treatment Unless your state requires the coverage ofthese services, your insurance company will probably not offer these services under any plan. Currently, there are 23 states that cover bariatric surgery, which will continue to be an option in plans participating in the state exchanges. These states are: Arizona California Delaware Hawaii Iowa Illinois Massachusetts Maryland Maine Michigan North Carolina North Dakota New Hampshire New Jersey New Mexico Nevada New York Oklahoma Rhode Island South Dakota Vermont West Virginia Wyoming In addition, residents of California, Massachusetts, Michigan and New Mexico, along with the District of Columbia, can access weight-loss treatments such as in-patient medical weight-loss treatment and the reimbursement of fitness club membership dues. If you do not live in one of these states,be patient. More and more insurance companies and medical professionals are recognizing the importance of treating obesity beforeitleadsto other, more costly medical conditions. The trend is leaning toward the inclusion of treatments in insurance coverage, so within the nextfewyears, it is likely that more states will be added to these lists."
9. I just found out Thursday that my surgery is Nov 5th and my nerves is all over the place. I already been getting my period every 21-23days down for every 28 (which suck as it is) but I woke up this morning and it was here.....I checked my period calendar (yeah they have an app for that) and realized that I'm not even due for the next eight days. So my question is: dis anyone experience an early period due to stress?
10. I got my date today, within four hours. I was blessed to have such a caring team of people working my papers. Plus No two week diet! Yes....just clear liquids the day before. I'll find out what time I'm have surgery Monday when I go to the pre-op class.

November 5th I will be a sleever!

Nope....this surgeon doesn't require one, just the day before clear liquids. He didn't say to flush out, but I'm doing that anyway. I went a bought some hello out of the kosher section (don't eat pork and gelatin is pork) to eat throughout that day. I'm going to make it tomorrow. My old surgeon had a 14 day diet though.

Another fellow sleeved #behealthy. Are you ready? Did you have to do a liquid diet?
13. For you and Lipstick Lady let me say this: this is the Rant board and that's what I did.....after that I figured it out, so it was already over before either one of ya'll put your 2 cents in. If I was asking 'should I be upset' then ya'll words would be welcomed, but I Didn't, so your words aren't that.....welcomed. Why go on and debate with anyone so close to their date (that's rheoterical). Just let it go.

15. Thankfully everything is now in place. My child will spend the night with the neighbors kids and go to school from there the next day. I'm putting them on the list so he can be picked up after school and he'll remain there until I get home. My mother is coming to the house to sit with me once I'm home (she's 77 and has a walker so she'll just be around to make sure I don't get a fever) I'm her youngest so she's the type that will just sit at the foot of the bed and look at me..."Mom go watch tv or something!" Ha ha I am ready to go and comfortable with my plans.....My Plan C: To drive myself, bring my bag in and say I was dropped off. I figure I can find someone to pick up me & my car for the trip home, most of my friends work til 5pm so it will be easier for them to get me than it is to drop me off.
16. I told my story to my neighbor who called our friend across the hall who has a drivers license and she is more than happy to drive me there in my car. You don't know what a relief it is for her to do that and Barbara will ride along with her. They are both going to stay until I get my room then bring me my belongings before heading back home. And don't know what Bianca's problem is but I am grateful that my neighbours stepped up. Funny thing is I stay to myself most of the time and even though we laughed from time to time in the breeze way I don't mix that much. I am truly blessed. Now I have to just focus on making this last check to hold me over until I get back to work. 7 days and a wake up.....I am sooo ready! Today at the doctors office. Weighed in at 370.5 (home scale read 366.6....but then again I was naked at home. Ha ha)
17. Ha ha ha...they never said Do Not Bathe lol. It just said that after you clean yourself no deodorant. Since I'll be doing this for three days its only the morning if that I dont wear deodorant.
