    Freaking out a little bit...

Hi, I agree with Missy. You do have to work towards a healthy eating plan, as you get familiar with your band you will realize there are just some types of foods that will hurt to eat. For me it is fried foods and foods that contain a lot of sugar. Good luck with your journey!!!!

how to say no thank you

Happy birthday!!! You could still go but maybe have a cup of tea. I have learned to still enjoy myself with others even when we celebrated at places that are not so vegan friendly

    Weird fill schedule???

My doctor did the same, and it worked. I reached my goal in about 16 months and for the past three years I have maintained my weight. Be patient, rather you loose weight slow without complications than to get too much of a fill and have major issues
  5. I got banded five years ago and reached my goal within the first two. I have maintained my weight loss but the last couple of years I realized eating meats, processed foods, and dairy were not good for ME. I have cut-out the above foods and saw noticeable changes, especially with increased energy. Has anyone else changed their eating habits and stuck with it? Please share

    Abdominal Exercise Inquiry!

Hi Tiffany, yes yoga will not only help you tone your abdominal area but your whole body. It's a great stress reducer. I also do Pilate, which does involve working your core abdominal area. Good luck and have fun trying different things.

    A little scare!

I hope you are feeling better now. My doctor had me stay away from restaurant foods for about the first six months, so I would have a better gage on what my band would tolerate or not. You did a good thing by cutting up the potatoes but the cream and sausage could have irritated your stomach. When I first got my band in I noticed how hot and really cold foods affected my band, so if you were having hot soup and iced tea at the same time that could be it.

    tell me about peanut butter

You could invest in a food processor, if you don't already have one, and make your own "nut" butters. I make all of mine, including hummus from scratch, this way I know exactly what I am putting into my body. If you are craving something sweet try adding a little bit of agave syrup to natural PB.
  10. I sounds like you are too tight, generally with a slipped band any foods you intake, including liquid would come right back up. It's good you will be seeing your doctor so he can confirm. I wish you the best and hope it's something that can be corrected by taking out some of the fill. Try drinking aloe juice, it's a natural stomach acid reducer.

    Feeling defeated

Hi, I have been banded for 5 years and am at the point where I do not require fills. However, I still get yearly checkups. Loosing 40 pounds in one year is not a bad thing, everybody's body responds differently to the band. It took me about two years to loose 100 pounds, but I have kept it off and have completely changed my eating habits. I decided to go Vegan about a year ago and have noticed a huge change in my skin, hair and ENERGY. Give yourself time, it will be worth it
