Don't worry, and I wouldn't necessarily say slower is always better. Everyone is different. Some people require little, others more. Just don't get too anxious or upset if you aren't where you feel you want to be immediately. I actually lost 110 pounds with no fill at all. When you look at my ticker you will see I'm over 10 years out from banding and I'm still a work in progress. I came within 3 pounds of reaching my personal goal and went on a self-sabotage spree that took years for me to get a grip on. Whenever I post something I am always talking to myself, too. Best to you!

This has been on my mind since coming to LBT. I just wanted to give a word of caution to those who are maybe new to being banded or over-zealous when it comes to weight loss and thinking maybe more and more fills are better.
The caution is about a habit that I developed and had to realize what I was doing wasn't the best idea. That is I want to caution you about getting your band too tight and in order to get things down lubing it up with extra calories like salad dressings or sauces. So more fills and a tighter band may not always be the best answer. I know it's cliche but it is a marathon and not a sprint. It's just something you may want to consider before getting frustrated or discouraged.
I have been banded many years and happy with my band.

That's awesome!!! I'm going to go walk around the fitness center here when I get off work and enjoy the weather before it gets too cold. After that my friend is meeting me there when she gets off and we are going to Zumba class. I am looking forward to it

    Great workouts everyone!
I managed to get in a little bit of swimming this morning after work, and a run after getting up. ( yes, nightshift this week for me )
Prior to surgery, I couldn't have walked a 10km. It's one step, one day, one mile at a time... http://connect.garmin.com/activity/387734238

I agree 100%. Tighter is not better. I can't tell you how many friends I've had that have thought they needed that 'extra' little bit to get them down and BAM...they are too tight, throwing up, dilating their pouch, etc. If anything I'd keep my band on the loose side than the tight side. Better safe than sorry. The band can do about 80% of the work for you but if you try to push it too hard you're going to have problems. Also, many KNOW they are too tight but think the weight loss is worth it. More than likely you are dehydrating yourself and not losing weight the healthy way. When we're too tight we tend to drink less and consume more slider foods like ice cream and sweets to compensate and this is obviously bad.
    Good post.

Thanks for these words of wisdom. I'm getting my first fill tomorrow. I'm happy to get some restriction... Hopefully. I'm still learning about my new band, but appreciate nuggets of truth that people post on here.

a double thanks to these words of wisdom. As I read this however I do need a fill...lol, no really I do. I had some taken out 6 weeks ago and not quite up to where I was and I stay hungry. I go in Thurs and am hoping for the half cc to bring me back up 5cc's to where I was comfy and losing. I will take your words to heart and remember them and remember that this is just a tool, we have to help ourselves.

A band that is too tight may lead to unanticipated complications. That is a reality that many Bandsters do not consider when in the process of seeking the "green zone".
My surgeon was very conservative with fills, and I chose to go along with his expert medical opinion to go slow with fills. It was also very important to me to be able to take my medications without risk of getting them stuck. So, keeping my band a bit on the loose side was my priority and preference.

I'm still here and still working on my exercise. Walked Sunday and yesterday was my birthday. Hubby and I went to a state park and hiked 2.05 miles around a lake. It was a beautiful day. I need to stay coming here for accountability and encouragement. Hope to hear what other's are doing.

Let's start with the "yay!": I weighed in this morning at 248.2!!! I have been dying to get under 250 for about 4 months so that was so exciting!
Now, to the nay : Will I ever learn not to eat in the morning, especially gulping it down???! Not feeling well this morning due to Migraine issues (I'm blaming it on the tropical mess), I drove through Starbucks to get a tea. Then, I see that they have new menu items, one being a whole wheat spinach deliciousness. I order it which probably would have been fine if I ate normally but, no, I inhaled it (probably since I hadn't eaten much in the last 24 hours due to said migraines).
I get to work and spend 15 minutes regurgitating (lovely since the whole office can hear) and get sent home. Now, I'm lying in bed nursing my tea and kicking myself for doing this again. I know it's a learning process but I'm usually a quick study and I am frustrated with myself!
Oh well, I am going to just bask in being under 250 pounds!

Definitely! Been banded over 10 years! Certainly haven't been the perfect bandster but have not had the first problem with my band. It's hard telling what my weight would be or if I would even be alive had I not done it. Working back towards my goal weight. I have learned so much about myself and what has contributed to my weight issues. Tomorrow I will be 63 years old and very healthy.

Oh, yeah. Definitely sounds like you were stuck Not fun and sometimes resolves more quickly and easily than others. My family definitely knows when it happens by the look on my face. Generally I try to relax and give whatever it is time to go down. If not I head to the bathroom. Sometimes just standing up and starting to walk will take care of it. I have known people who do what they call the chicken dance and flap their arms and move around and that works for them. It's not fun when it sneaks up on you and it's not a PB but a true hurl. If you ever have that happen be sure to take some time to rest up and not go directly back to trying to eat. Your pouch will be irritated and swollen. For me sometimes I will be very hungry and get in too big of a hurry. That never works out well. And the big difference with the band is that it just seems to stack up. You can't try to wash it down with any liquid. Only makes it worse. Just try to be cognizant of what you are doing and eat slowly and chew chew chew.
