  1. My band is empty and I am going for my first fill one week from today.

My band has been relatively tight since day one. On some days, like today, my band feels like it is doing its job and I am very satisfied, but other days I am ravenous and have to stop myself from eating too much. i.e. my restriction varies day to day.

    Does anyone know why?

Based on what is going on now, I am worried when I start getting fills that some days will be extremely tight and unbearable, whereas other days could be just fine.

  2. I want to try this, but have various pains going on. My feet cramp and my shins hurt when I run. Legs and ankles dislike my weight too. Anyone have this type of pain when starting and get over it? I have not started the program but really want to :( .

  3. Thanks for that info. Glad you are doing better. That's how I was the day after surgery. I could not even hold my own spit down. I was swollen shut and had to be admitted to emergency. The doctor tells me this is rare, about 2 people in 100. When I go for my first fill, I think I will ask for only 1cc or I may end up swollen shut again. I am a little nervous about my first fill!

  4. I have found consistently on any WL forum that around the 3 or 4 week people do not lose weight and start to panic. Just keep going and it will come off. You will also need a few fills before weight really starts to come off (or so I hear, because I am in the same boat as you!)

  5. I'd be leary of "making up a procedure". That could, down the road be held against you as falsification of company records. I've seen it happen...Very sad but true.

MY opinion, if you are not 100% comfortable telling EVERYONE at your workplace, then don't tell ANYONE. Your supervisors, etc are not entitled to know what type of surgery you had. Only any work restrictions you may have. Your bariatric surgeon's team should be very familiar filling out the FMLA paperwork to not indicate any identifying procedure.

Now I feel bad for lying, Yikes!! It is very difficult because when I said I had to go for surgery, everyone asked right away "Oh? What kind of surgery??" I did not know what to say, so I blurted out hernia repair. Well.....hopefully it never becomes an issue :o

  6. I really hate lying because if DOES come back to bite you.....but I really did not want work to know. I told them hernia repair. I hope it does not come back to bite me!! I think the surgery papers can be generic (ie tell your surgeon to be general and not specific with the letter) All he has to say is that you had surgery and will not be able to return to work until XXX

If the truth ever has to come out, then I will say I had a hernia repair along with a lapband LOL. I hope I never have a stuck episode during a work lunch!!!

  7. I am 2 weeks post op and feel much better. I had post op problems and had to be in the hospital for 3 days because I could not keep fluids down because I was so swollen. Almost back to normal. Loving mushie foods and feeling full after a small amount. Feeling good! It is normal to be emotional. Give it some time.

  8. That is a resonable question LOL. I think I read somewhere in the mountain of paperwork my doctor gave me, that lettuce does not apply to the "one cup rule" and not to worry about the quantity. I am sure others can help too.

I am still on mushie phase and the thought of eating lettuce scares the heck out of me! Let us know how it goes :)

  9. I am one that ate whatever I wanted to before surgery up until the pre-op diet. It takes a special "mode" to get into and I did not want to start it too early on in the process. Sometimes this "mode" wears out pretty quickly (well for me it does LOL). Once you get the band, you have no choice but to change your habits and a promise to your self that you will change forever.
