    August 1

Hi - I was banded on Aug 1 also. Here on day 5 post op, I'm feeling great. All the pain and swelling is gone, the incisions are a bit itchy but I can live with that. I know what you mean about not being hungry and having to stretch to get in 60g of protein. I am using this clear, high protein liquid drink called ISOPURE ZERO CARB. I get it at GNC. No fats or carbs, but 40g protein in a 20oz. bottle. Tastes ok mixed with water over ice. Makes it very easy to get the protein levels needed without too much effort. Clear non-fat chicken broth is also on my acceptable list - I have gotten my local Chinese restaurant to make some especially for me - way better than what I have tried from the store. After weeks of chocolate shakes, and green apple isopure, the slightly savory taste of the chicken broth is getting me past any low points. A half-cup a day does the trick.

    3 days post op

I'm day 5 post op. The pain and swelling have gone and I took a mile walk at the beach this morning. The incision sites are a little itchy and its a touch tender on the spot above the port. Aside from that, I'm feeling great.

    This CANNOT be happening :0

Remember that water weighs over 8 pounds per gallon. Depending on where you happen to be in a hydration cycle, its very easy to be 4 lbs. "over" what you think you should be. When you step on a scale, you are only seeing a snapshot of your weight as it fluctuates over the course of a day.
  4. After spending the past three months performing the long list of preoperative tasks, yesterday finally arrived. My wife, daughter and I arrived at the hospital at 5:45 am, and soon thereafter I was stripped, gowned, weighed, interrogated (nicely) and injected. The pre-op weigh in showed that I had lost almost 25 lbs. during the previous couple of months since I seriously set my mind to this process. Then a thrilling ride through the corridors to the OR, and lights out. A nice nap for a couple of hours and then awakened to five new holes in my gut, and the smiling faces of my wife and daughter. Some post-op tests over the next few hours to prove I could swallow, void and breathe, and home by 2:30. Not too much discomfort, although sleeping through the night was a lost cause, so I caught up on some late night infomercials and watched a movie on Netflix. Today is better, and I only have a bit of discomfort at one spot on my stomach - presumably where the port is located. Trying to get completely rehydrated by sipping slowly, and building up the courage to give myself the post surgery injections of blood thinner I'm supposed to have. Forward!

    Not eating...

Have you tried Isopure Zero Carb? 40g of protein in a 20 oz. bottle. I mix half and half with water on ice and it is a pretty light and refreshing drink. You can get it at GNC. Quite a few different flavors - at this point I favor the Green Apple Melon, but the Blue Raspberry isn't bad either.

How am I supposed to sleep

I got my band yesterday and had a pretty restless night last night also. I usually sleep on my side and stomach and that wasn't going to happen at all. On the plus side, I am all caught up with the latest informercials. After getting out of bed at 3:00, I went back at 5:30 and was able to doze off on my side with a pillow under my belly. Feeling much better today, except I'm feeling a bit of discomfort under the incision where I suppose the port is located...
