  1. So does anyone have a good list going of thing they are bringing to the hospital with them?

Lip balm, shower loofa, hair dryer, heating pad, gasx chewables, Rx's I'm taking, pillow with colored pillow case, small pillow for flight, house slippers, robe, toiletries, makeup, book to read, laptop, cellphone and chargers, power strip to plug all my suff into, makeup mirror, pj's, clean underwear, loose clothing to wear home, dry packaged chicken Soup for traveling back home ( I can get hot Water for it on my flight home), Translater for my iphone, money, passport since I am going to Mexico, good attitude.

  2. Diet pills are just a temporary bandaid, you will regain twice as much back when you have to go off them. Here in Mississippi, the government has stuck their noses into how long you are allowed to take a diet pill (6 months on and 6 months off). I have been on weight watchers and lost 68 pounds and became a lifetime member before, but it doesn't work for me now. I have been on medifast, nutisystems, doctor assisted weight loss, herbalife, diet pills, Roco, you name it, I have done it. If you have tried everything and your body won't budge, it's time for surgery. My sister had the gastric sleeve last year and has already lost 80 pounds, started at 204 and is now so slim and beautiful. She had to wait the 6 months required here in the US. I am going to Mexico to have my surgery, I do not like the beaurocracy here with the insurance and hospitals. The prices in Mexico are so much less expensive than here in the US. My sister's surgery was paid for by her Medicare and she said it paid 100%. My doctor told me to start a protien diet with less than 70 grams of carbs a day the week before surgery. The doctors in the US tell their patients to start a liquid diet 2 weeks before surgery. I would rather have the food. After surgery, we will all be on the liquid diets. Good luck with your surgery!

  3. It took my sister 6 months and my niece has to wait 6 months also. I don't have to wait since I am using a surgeon in Mexico. I am also paying cash with a much smaller bill. Surgery in the US is out of hand and they charge much more than any other country. It's not any safer here than Mexico, I know since I have had several surgeries and hospitalizations here in the US and Mexico. They overcharge for everything here! I'm tired of being charged $30,000 for just 2 nights in the hospital here in the US. Then they charge you for every other little thing they can conjure up! In Mexico, a gastric sleeve is total cost of $6500 including hospital, x-rays, surgery, medications and everything! I got my airline tickets free using my miles awards. I'm tired of being ripped off by the hospitals, doctors and pharmacies here in the US.

  4. I am 57 and am getting sleeved on August 5,2013. I have been gaining weight since menopause and have tried everything to lose weight. My sister had the gastric sleeve done last July and she looks fantastic! She was 204 and now 130pounds. She has had no complications at all. Healthier and no chance of type 2 diabetes! She was taken off her blood pressure meds after the surgery. My surgery is going to be in Juarez, Mexico by Dr. Jose Rodriguez. I have read many posts from his patients and believe he is the surgeon for me and the price is much less expensive than having it done here in the USA. I am so excited, that I have a hard time waiting for Saturday to come! I am on the road to a new me.
