This was such a great question to post. I actually learned a few things. My best friend has been the heating pad. It really helped soothe my back pain from the gas.
I got Propel Zero because it has Vitamins & electrolytes and it tastes great especially the grape. sugar-free Popsicles are great. I have sugar-free Jello but my new belly wasn't quite ready for the Jello yet.
Good luck on your surgery and keep us posted on your progress.

Good Luck! the best advice I have for you after surgery is to get a heating pad and walk, walk, walk to move that gas out.

congrats had mines done Tuesday and the best thing it to walk around also laying on your left side if your able.
I wish I could lay on my left side but my port is over there. I tried that and Boy oh boy that was a big no-no.

I was told that Gasx. I almost took a GasX strip but it was peppermint flavored. Nurse said dnt eat peppermints but the gas pain felt like pressure about to blow straight thru my back. The gas has moved to my abdomen and this is more torture. I have found that a heating pad and frequent back massages helped along with walking.

Got banded ystdy and I have been in excruciating pain since i woke up from surgery from the gas especially in my back. I have a nausea patch behind my ear so no nausea at all. My incisions are ok but the port area is a little sore. But I am still miserable. The heating pad is helping my back pain. And frequent back massages from my hubby, mom, & d on helps a little. I have probably walked a mile up & down my hallway trying to get rid of it. I signed up for Lap Band not gas. #miserable

My doctot nor the anesthesiologists had a problem with keeping the Nuva Ring in. I still feel better with my decision to remove it. I take "blood clot" type side effects very seriously.

10-22 is my date!!! I'm getting scared now and second guessing. I've worked too hard to turn back.So am I. Surgery is tomorrow

Well I hope that I don't get hunger pains post op.
-
Your pre-op instructions didn't say anything about going off of NSAIDs; Advil, aspirin, Motrin, Aleve, etc.? Those are blood thinners, and every surgery I've ever had is very strict on this. If taken to close to surgery, they will postpone.
Nope absolutely nothing.

Ok great! For some reason I trust lapbandtalk.com more than the dr. Lol. I can't wait until my preop tomorrow because I have a gazillion questions for my doc.
-
No problems??

Am I the only person who's doctor did not require a preop diet. Only a liquid diet the day the day before. FYI... I am 5ft 207 lbs bmi 40.
-
I just went back over the info I was given at first vist and there was nothing. It only stated meds not to take post op.

I had Laparoscopic surgery 3 1/2 months ago and my OB/GYN put me on the Nuva Ring a week later at my follow up appt. And of course the doctor inside me questioned him about it being so soon after surgery and the fact regarding blood clots.
Anyway I have a strange feeling that my surgery may be postpone a week or two.
-
Its out now. But the thing is last Tuesday when the dr. called to inform me of my approval we set the surgery date for 7 days later. So two days later is when I started questioning the Nuva Ring.
-
Very well put. Thanks.

Did any of yoy have s Nuvaring in prior to surgery? If so did you have to remove it prior to surgery? I am a little concerned because one of the side effects is blood clots. I called my OB/GYN to see if I needed to take it out. They said call the surgeon. So I called him and nurse said to ask anesthesiologists. My surgery is two days away. So out comes the Nuva Ring today. I probably should have just taken it out last week.

How much weight did you lose during the first two weeks after surgery? Not including the weight you lost during preop.
-
My surgery it's today! In like 15 mins! Woohoo!
Prayers going up. Congrats!

My surgery is scheduled for Oct. 23rd and I see the doctor for the first time tomorrow - this seems weird reading everyone's posts, sounds like you have to go thru a pre surgery liquid diet? For how long? I'll have less than two weeks from by 1st appointment to having the surgery.
Anyone have time to post what the first few weeks are like?
I saw my director the first time back in May or June. Now that I have been approved I will see him on Monday, the day before surgery. He doesn't require a pre diet. In fact they told me to eat whatever I want and have that glass of wine if I want to. I will be banded on October 15th. Let me know how your preop visit goes.

Day 4 and gas pains are still killing me. Lot of unproductive burps & I noticed that my bladder doesn't give me the signal that I need to urinate. Could this be due to gas? Has anyone else had this problem?
