  1. I was banded October 15, 2013. My heaviest weight was 222 & when I started the Lap Band process I was 206. Since surgery I've lost 21 lbs. (I gained a few and lost a few.) But I feel like I don't have a support system (that is suitable for me) from my doctor. Most of you had doctors that had you on a pre-surgery diet, mine didn't. I had the WORST GAS PAINS EVER after surger for about a week.

My band was not filled during the surgery and I went in for my first fill December 2nd & was filled with 5 cc's. Second fill February 3rd with 1.5 cc's, and I just had my 3rd fill on March 31st with 1.8 cc's. I now have a total of 8.3 in my size 11 Realize band. Next appointment is in THREE months! So far my protocol has been "stay away from breads and pastas". No meal plan, no monthly visits, no nothing. I have been relying on Bariatric Pal for my protocol, support, and advice. I feel like an abandoned child. In the begining, I do very well when I have someone to report to and a meal plan to follow. Um yes, I'm needy in the beginning then I'm ok after that. But this 3rd fill has me feeling some type of way. I'm totally lost and don't know what to eat. I'm at the point where I'm putting myself on a DIET. I made an appointment with my nutritionist and have signed up with My Fitness Pal (user name vlwx31). I have no idea how many calories I should be consuming. But I'll figure it out. I just needed to vent.

  2. No I'm not tracking calories. I guess i better start. i will check out the link. And I was in the green for about 2 weeks after my 2nd fill. Then it mysteriously went away. I was in shock when the doc said see him again in 3 months. He said he doesn't want his patients to become dependent on the the band. My doctor has not provided a protocol. He said to eat sensibly, stay away from breads and pastas. I am making an apointment with the nutritionist because I need to report to someone.

  3. Hello everybody...well, my doctor sent my referral off to the insurance company and they told me that i'm NOT a good candidate because my BMI is 38 and i need to be 40. is this normal insurance-speak and this is part of the game they play or am i just done? i really don't want to GAIN more weight to have this surgery, i'm already uncomfortable enough. i don't know if i keep having my doctor resubmit the application or just join weight watchers...again *sigh*.

Any advice would be awesome. thank you.

I understand you not wanting to gain more weight. But...here's my story...When I started researching Lap Band and my insurance company's requirements, I immediately knew what I had to do. I weighed 190 & my BMI was 38. No diabetes, no high blood pressure, no sleep apnea, but I had a history of asthma (no episodes in 3 years), so no real health problems. So since I'm really good at gaining weight, I did just that. Gained 10 lbs and BAM...surgery was approved.0

  4. Hi everyone. I was banded 26 October 2013. Just had my second fill to 6cc in 10cc band.

Still not green, but no longer starving. How much have you all lost so far?

Banded 10/15/13 down 24. Still waiting for the real weight loss to happen. I sitll have not seen that 1-3 lbs per week loss yer.Lol. I've been told I'm in Bandster Hell.

  5. Having a debate with someone. I drink a Gold Standard whey Protein Shake (24 or 27 grams of protein) every morning for Breakfast with 8oz unsweetened Almond milk, 1/2 banana & a tsp of Peanut Butter. I'm being told whey Protein will make me gain weight because it builds muscle. I do about 30 minutes of cardio 3-4 times per week. What are your thoughts? Do you recommend a different protein?

Banded on 10/15/13 and down 23 lbs. Had my second fill of 1.8 ccs 2/5/13. Total fill 6.8 ccs in my 11 band. Still not in green zone but stuck in Bandster Hell.

  6. I was banded 29 October and I'm down 30 pounds so far. I had my first fill last week. Still hungry, so not in the green zone yet! How is everyone else doing?

Banded Oct 15, 2013 down 20 lbs in the Green Zone not hungry much. First fill was December 2nd. 5ccs in my size 11 band. I feel great! But not exercising like I should. Eliptical machine is on my Christmas list.
