That's awesome (: I'm mostly nervous.. This forum keeps me sane lol

Thank you! Oh that's great! He is a good surgeon, with great bedside manner! I should mention that none of my complications were surgeon related haha. Good luck to you too! (:

I have the same date as you!! My preop diet is making me sick so far, slight nausea and sometimes a headache, and I've never craved Chipotle more in my entire life. My nerves are going haywire right now, just thinking about how my relationship with food is going to change and the slight possibility of a complication lol. I'd love to keep in touch though, since we are both getting Sleeved on the 23rd! (:

I had complications with my gastric plication from OCC in Mexico (nausea, not surgeon error), and I also had to have the lap band that they placed during my plication revision removed in an emergency surgery here in the states (not due to surgeon error though). I saved up and now I'm getting sleeved here in the United states, but I have heard good things about Mexicali bariatric center. With that being said, the care I recieved at OCC was very good, and the facility was clean! And Dr Ortiz has great bedside manner, the sleeve patients when I was down there were practically bouncing out of bed right after surgery! Just email them and theyll get info to you ASAP

Congrats on all of your surgeries!!! (: Mine is the 23rd of June!

I'm on day 3 of liquids for surgery on the 23rd! I have had slight nausea and a headache since I started the liquids! Tylenol is my friend right now. Hopefully the end result will be worth it! I'm drinking Fit Frappe brand mocha shakes blended with 1/4 cup coconut milk, 8 oz Water and ice... It tastes like a Starbucks frapp, but not too sweet!

Congratulations on your surgeries! And good luck! (: mine is June 23rd

Hi, just thought I'd give a little introduction, as I've really enjoyed reading about everyone's successes here! My name is Josette, I'm 19 and from Oregon. I am set to have my sleeve done on the 23rd of June, 2015 in Coos Bay. I am on my second day of liquids! This won't be my first weight loss surgery, I had a band placed in 2013 in Mexico by Dr Ortiz, that had to be removed September 2014 in the states due to complications. Looking back I should have saved up and gotten the sleeve the first time, but I'm so excited to start my journey now; and I cannot wait to see all of your wonderful progress here! (:
Here are my numbers:
Hw: 350
Cw: 344
Sw: ?
Gw: 160

Congratulations!! You look fabulous!! I also show horses (apha), and I can't wait to be small enough to ride my horse again! It's been 5 months since I've ridden... Way too long! Keep up your fabulous work!! (:

Hi, I am set to have surgery on the 23rd and am really nervous about it, especially since I'm only 19. What surgery did the girl have? And do you know what the complication was?
-
I think he's just being "realistic" hahaha. Thanks so much (:

So so exciting!!!! My date is June 23rd!

You look so amazing!!! Great to see you doing so well! Your post gives me hope since I am of a similar age with almost the exact same numbers (sw 346 goal 160), and my doctor said I'd never get below 200 with the sleeve... June 30th is my surgery date, I guess I'll have to prove him wrong! Haha. You have done amazing work!! (:

If all goes as planned, I should be having my surgery June 30th with Dr Tersigni and Bay Bariatrics! I'm so nervous, but excited too!

Yes I know this, I just need an insurance company that actually offers the possibility of me getting surgery. Right now, there is not even a remote chance that I will ever get surgery
-
Yeah, I don't want to have state healthcare anymore, I want to find a private insurance that will cover bariatric surgery
-
I have read into the KATU story that you found, and my problem is that I have no comorbidities, therefore I'm not costing the state extra for diabetic supplies or oxygen tanks or sleep apnea machines, so my surgery is extremely low priority

I will definitely look into both options that you guys mentioned! Right now, my care Oregon health insurance is covering a lap band removal due to major complications. I will look into OHP, because I know that it is different than Care Oregon, which is Medicaid. I was comparing coverage on the Cover Oregon website, and bariatric surgery was an exclusion under every network and plan level that I looked at :/ thanks for your help!

I am looking into private healthcare companies that will cover bariatric surgery. I have found my
surgeon, hospital, etc. I'm not looking to bargain hunt surgeons.
I work at Dairy Queen part time, and am a full time college student. My employer does not offer any kind of insurance for employees, period. My parents are broke as a joke, so no help there. I am willing to pay the premiums that it takes for me to get surgery, but I don't want to take on a mound of debt this early in my life, and I DO NOT want to go to Mexico again, ever.
Does anyone know of any individual health care plans/companies that will cover bariatric surgery? I am located in Oregon
Thanks for any help!

Oh my computer double posted a topic that I made lol. And actually I haven't lost any weight, my ticket looks like I did, but actually my current weight is the higher weight. I've gained +30 since surgery

I am in a position where I am ready to try to revise my lap band to a sleeve surgery. My current insurance will not cover a revision or removal unless "medically necessary", and apparently extreme side and shoulder pain along with damage to the nerves that control the diaphragm is not a "medically necessary" reason for removal
I am looking for an insurance company in Oregon that will cover a revision surgery, or a sleeve surgery if I can pay to have the band removed myself. I've gotten to the point of desperation, even calling various surgery centers in Oregon and asking about which insurance companies they work with has gotten me nowhere (doctor/patient confidentiality I suppose).
Soooo... with that said, what companies in Oregon did you use that approved your sleeve, and what is the plan name or coverage level? Any answers would be so greatly appreciated (:
