  1. I'm 6 days out and I've only lost 3 pounds, and from a very high starting weight. Super discouraging! I'm consuming an average of 450 calories daily, and have been walking moderately.

I might be freaking out but....

Weighing every day is definitely one of my weaknesses. Thank you for the support, I will just have to take it slower and not get so caught up on numbers!
  3. I'm 5 days out and can drink lots of liquid too. Top that off with only a 3 pound loss since surgery, and that really scares me!

Tall Women, Tell Me Your Story!

I'm 5'11 and my goal is 165. I know they say "shoot for healthy" but I'm young now and I wanna have the body to match! haha. That being said, I'm five days out and only down 3 pounds

    protein shake suggestions?

I'll try the pudding pop idea! I've been mixing my unflavored powder into my yogurt and puddings, but a pudding or yogurt pop sounds great!

I love that idea!!! Definitely will be trying it with my final shake tonight!
  9. I am doing well now, the first day after surgery I had to be readmitted to the hospital due to dehydration and pain because I couldn't keep my meds or liquids down. I was discharged on Thursday and I have felt great the past two days! Just trying to get my sips in and walk!
  10. Doctors speak in generalities based on statistics of large populations. But YOU speak for YOU. Your individual strengths and desires determine the amount of weight you'll lose. Don't worry, I need to lose 210+ lbs to get to a healthy BMI, so I'm taking the journey right along with you. Are you pre op or post op?? I'd love to keep in touch! We can do this!! (:
  11. Wow, 30 pounds in 4 weeks! Great job (: My gosh I can only hope that I do as well as you all have! You guys are all amazing inspirations to me! Thank you guys so much for offering insight and support during my time of doubt (:
  12. I find it helpful not to look at a specific number as a goal. For me the goal is wellness. That means eating right and exercise. It doesn't mean restriction, deprivation or dieting. I plan for occasions where their will be cake or ice cream. I plan for movie nights. I make room in my life for a well rounded menu. I don't ever think in terms of cheat meals or diets. I approach every day trying to do better. I'm always on the lookout for new things to do and try.I will have to try to look at it that way as well. I am the kind of person where one slip leads to a landslide! But then again, planning has never been a strong suit of mine. I will definitely be taking your advice here!
  13. Hi, so I was sleeved on Tuesday June 23rd, 2015. I became dehydrated yesterday because of the swelling in my stomach, and had to be re admitted to the hospital. So today I have really tried to sip and sip so that that doesn't happen again, but I don't know if that will stretch out my sleeve or not. My surgeon also prescribes pills to be taken after surgery, but some of them feel like a lump in my sleeve. Does anyone have experience with this? Do you feel like you stretched your sleeve out at all? I know this is random but I'm having newbie concerns haha TIA (:
  14. Thanks for all of the info! I'll just keep sipping and sipping! (:
  15. Hi, I was just sleeved on Tuesday, and have been working on getting sips of water and protein shakes in, but I'm feeling like there is air or gas in my sleeve. I have taken Gas X strips but they aren't seeming to help. Is this really gas or is my stomach just that small now? Thanks!

    Sleeve and gas pains

I'll definitely try walking more! I haven't had any shoulder gas pains or anything, just gas in the sleeve haha
  18. It will get better, I was sleeved on Tuesday and I finally really feel good! Just keep up with your pain meds and water and if you feel excessive pain or can't keep your liquids down, call your surgeon and go to the hospital ASAP! You are going to do great! (:

    Out Patient vs Hospital Stay

I just had my surgery on Tuesday, and here is what I will tell you: I had my surgery at a hospital in Oregon that is a baiatric surgery center of excellence. I chose outpatient, since it was the most cost effective. I was released from the hospital and could not keep my pain medicine or water down. I ended up having to go back to the hospital with pain (since I couldn't keep my meds down) and dehydration (since I couldn't keep water down). 15 unsuccessful iv pokes and one torrdal shot later I felt much better, and was released today. I'm basically bouncing around, but I was the person that needed an inpatient stay, and ended up not having it. On the plus side, when I was re admitted to the hospital my insurance covered everything (surgery was self pay). I would highly recommend inpatient stay, because if you do end up having complications and you are an outpatient, they can only give you the drugs that you will have at home, which sometimes does not work right away. Even if you aren't sure that you need inpatient, it is still good to have that security there, and if you do choose outpatient, know that you can go back to the hospital before you get to the point I was at

    Birth control

Non-hormonal copper IUD, it's called paraguard. It's like the mirena but there is nothing hormonal about it! Then for your second method just use condoms
  22. Hi, I was wondering if any of you guys had outpatient surgery for your sleeves? I'm worried about the pain after surgery, but I really don't have an extra five grand to stay overnight lol. Was outpatient completely terrible, or bearable? Thanks!

    Outpatient sleevers?

    Salem/Mcminnville Oregon?

Yeah, I'm not looking too forward to it being outpatient because I am kind of a whimp haha. Ohhhh okay that makes sense! I am leaving for Coos Bay in the morning! I have some pre op stuff scheduled for tomorrow, and then surgery Tuesday and if all goes as planned I will be going home Wednesday after my swallow test. My mom is going with me as well! Yeah you could come visit me, or we could meet up somewhere! (:
