  1. Me too. I'm finding that if I drink constantly it helps. I plan for a protein shake every evening.
  2. You have all of the tools you developed to lose the weight in the first place. Good luck.
  3. I have inlaws like this and I refuse to let them get to me. I'm doing this for me and if they choose not to acknowledge my weight loss I don't really worry about it. Just keep enjoying the ability to shop for regular sizes and the compliments I'm sure you get from others.
  4. I was having a slow down and my doctor suggested upping my calories and said I wasnt taking in enough calories. I realized that wasnt the whole problem when I reviewed my journal ( I also use myfitnesspal). I have dropped myself to 20-25 gm of carbs and so far it has jumpstarted me. The important thing to remember is that all calories are not even. Simple carbs or bad carbs will make you crave. Good carbs like vegetables won't. Protein first then carbs (and try to get the good ones) and you'll probably see your body start reacting. Some people do it without exercise, but I couldn't. Its easy for me to make excuses, but once I get into the habit of exercising, I feel guilty if I dont do it. Keep us posed with your progress, visit the site often and you'll get plenty of support, exercise and drink plenty of fluids. A good healthy weight loss is 1 to 2 lbs per week and though it'll go slowly, you'l be grateful that it did in the end.
  5. Congratulations. I'm happy for you. I need to clean out my closet.
  6. Yeah. Yuk. And it feels horrible.
  7. hiccups, now that is the sign that I am full. I hear that from alot of folks. As for eating, are you alrady on solid foods. I was liquids for 2 weeks. Your lack of hunger is likely cuz of your swelling, gives you a false sense of what people here call restriction. It'll take probably several weeks before your band settles in and all of the swelling is gone and you'll know how much restriction you actually have. Probably not alot until you start getting fills. Stay hydrated and try to get your proteins. At least thats what I think.
  8. I've only had sticks in the evening. After that happens I'm done. I resume my routine next day
  9. I know when I had mine I felt like I got run over by a mack truck. I don't know why, I usually do surgeries ok. I had buyers remorse for 2 days. Now I'm just glad its over. You guys will do great. As for the gas/shoulder pains gas x strips work great for that. That and walking.
  10. Or you could just have chocolate protein shakes. I agree with the "eat sugar, crave sugar" thing. Thats me. If I stay away from it I'm better. You don't want to sabatoge yourself with chocolate and its also a slider food and will not satisfy your hunger.
  11. You still probably have alot of swelling. Some say it takes a week or 2 to feel the real effects of a fill. Give it some more time. I'm guessing you are supposed to have real foods tomorrow. Be careful so you don't have stuck episodes with that.
  12. Have you already had your initial visit with WLS? If so, what was your BMI? Also, are they going to do sleep study?
  13. Mid is right. My ins didn't consider sleep apnea high cholesterol or blood pressure co morbiditiws. It varies insurance to insurance
  14. Miralax in morning cup of coffee. Not every day, just when I need it. This a very common problem and you just have to try different things til you find out what works for you.

  16. Drop the 40 lbs goal and set yourself some small bur reachable goals. You'll get to the 40 before you know it. As for the exercise, now is a good time to get out and walk.

  18. I hate to say it, but you need to find a protein shake you can tolerate or it will be hard for you to get your min requirement...especially during preop and immediate postoperative.
  19. I had gotten down to 900 cal, and my weight loss was stalled. My doctor suggested I increased to 1200 cal, and my weight-loss took off again.
  20. This is a common side effect of ace inhibitors. Sometimes takes months to go away (if ever) once you stop taking it
  21. Here's what my surgeon says The Band Ain’t Getting Any Looser!! Posted by Dr. Rachael Keilin a cosmetic surgeon and a Texas lap band doctor. At least once every clinic day I have to unfill someone who has been too tight for many weeks. Sometimes many months. A very few people knew they were too tight, knew it wasn’t a good idea to stay that way, but just couldn’t come into clinic for some reason – distance, schedule, finances. But the vast majority of people say, “I thought it would get better.” This is a brief post to say: IT WON’T GET BETTER If you are experiencing symptoms of being too tight such as: -not being able to eat 4 ounces of meat -having most solid foods “hang up” and even come back up -night coughs -waking up choking -frequent vomiting -poor weight loss THEN THE BAND NEEDS TO BE LOOSENED A LITTLE! The band is a mechanical device. It does not tighten on it’s own. There are many things that might make a band that felt fine for awhile suddenly feel too restrictive such as Water retention or inflammation of the stomach or esophagus. Or maybe the last fill put in a little too much Fluid and it’s been uncomfortable taking in food ever since. But once it’s too tight, it’s not going to loosen on its’ own, either. Some fluid needs to be removed. The longer the band stays too tight, the more likely there are to be more serious consequences such as aspiration pneumonia, band slippage and band erosion. Keep in mind the last two might actually require surgery! And if you read the list above all the way to the end you’ll notice something else – a band that is too tight does not allow for good weight loss. When the band is too tight almost every single person will try to eat whatever will go down easily. And that includes chips, ice-cream and sweet drinks. Nobody ever lost weight on a diet of chips, ice-cream and sweet drinks no matter how small the portion is you think you’re eating. So don’t sabotage your diet by letting the band force you into eating nothing but junk, or keep you up all night with heartburn, or land you in the hospital with pneumonia. If you have symptoms lasting more than two days that imply that your band is too tight, irrespective of the last time you got the band adjusted, then COME IN and get it unfilled a little. I promise you’ll feel better and lose weight faster.
  22. It is a common side effect that not everyone experiences. Any of the ace inhibitors can cause this.
