  1. Stick around, we fight like relatives but we're still friends in the end.
  2. I've never even heard these brought up before. Sounds like bandhaters. I love my band so far. I still have a few to lose, but at least I am losing it. Do whats right for you. But, if you research it, you have to learn how to filter, cuz you get good advise and bad.
  3. Mine too. I only had 4 months of the old forum but I was hooked. Now....not so much.
  4. You can do it, but you have to want it. I hope you want it bad enough to do the work for it because it is going to take commitment, perseverance and will power. We will all support you, but nobody can do it for you.
  5. We actually had someone with a thread recently that this happened to. I sorta question the competence.
  6. Yes, try to get your proteins from natural sources and if you need, use shakes. I do shakes for breakfast a lot. You'll stay fuller and crave less with more protein and less carbs
  7. I think he might be saying he wants you to manage the quality and he will get the band to manage the quantity. That may be good, but til you get to green you will have to manage both.
  8. I would prolly have mine there if I could have chosen
  9. I haven't heard of too many doing weekly fills. I had my fill on Monday and I'm having regular foods today. I still feel I have to tread lightly cuz I'm in unchartered waters with this much Fluid in my band. If you don't feel ready for a fill when you go remember you can always tell your surgeon you want to skip one.
  10. Wow, how did my font get so small?
  11. Take miralax twice a day until you have a movement. Sometimes it can take 5 days. Also, my doctor told me to add a magnesium tab every day with my Vitamins. It seems to work. Also if you weren't really regular before surgery, you'll take more help since surgery, especially ef you are taking pain medications. They slow things down a lot.
  12. Just start fresh. You got this.
  13. I haven't had the band without plication as I got my plication with my band. I've been able to lose a lot of weight without any fills and finally started getting fills about 3 months ago. I probably could have very well lost all my weight with just the plication. I just feel it will be easier to maintain with the adjustments added.
  14. Also, look at what you are eating. Some of the foods on your list are already on a lot of peoples "do not eat list". None mine necessarily cuz so far I've been lucky enough to be able to tolerate most anything so far. chicken, I have a lot of problems with and have to make a dip for it. If the first bite doesn't go through, the next certainly won't. First try and see if you are eating small enough bites and making sure you are chewing well. And as Missy says, throwing up isn't good ever.
  15. I had appt with surgeon yesterday and asked if he was going to stay in lapbanding and he said he still prefers it over all WLS. He said that the aftercare people seek and receive after banding is the very thing that skews it's success rate. He said if people were more compliant and surgeons were more on top of it, the numbers would show a lot better. He also said his wife and partner attended a WLS conference last week and surgeons there were saying they are seeing a lot more sleeve issues than in the past. After all, it's still pretty new. And like he said, what do you do about it after it's gone?
  16. Do you try a hot beverage in the morning. Something my nutritionist refers to as "waking the band"
  17. In my job, I take care of Wounds like this and a whole lot worse all the time. Be very careful with it, you don't want to have a big staff infection.
  18. Truth be known, working on your car probably didn't cost this. It evidently was not healing from the inside like it should have been.
  19. My doc does 1 day liq 1 day mushies. I got a 1 cc fill today which makes me a total of 5 ccs. I felt a little funny at first. I had warm liquids today and so far I'm good. As my surgeon says just listen to your body..the amount of fluids is different amts for different people
  20. I was already pleased with my decision, but you can start scratching your head and wondering with so many people arguing about the good the bad and the ugly.
  21. I saw my surgeon today and took the opportunity to ask him every question I could think of. I was very satisfied with the responses he gave me and very pleased with the decision I've made especially since talking to him today. I asked him if he was going to get out of doing lap bands and he said no. He did not run down any procedure but said he still likes the lapband best. Said he wasn't comfortable with sleeve em and leave em approach. Said research data on band so much of the time factors in a lot of surgeries where surgeons didn't actually stress follow up. As said, I'm happy with my choice.
  22. My surgeon does 1 day liq and 1 day mushiness after a fill. Had mine today
