slow
I agree. This amt wt is great. I lost 13 lbs preop diet, 14 1st month postop and average 3-5 lbs a month last 9 months. I'm not looking for fast results just permanent ones.

My sister...ugh!
You do what you do for you and your family. I mean your "immediate" family. She means well I'm sure, but in the end, live your life for you and yours. She'll come around.

5 months out & struggling
I do 90+ Proteins and 70 or less carbs. I had my calories down to 900 for several months and I did lose for a while. After a while, I hit a plateau that lasted for a month. I upped my calories to 1200 and the weight loss started again. I think it was just the shaking up things that helped. As for the treats, you have to let them go. They will kill you. They are poison. Ok, not exactly. I suggest you try to find a substitute for them. I do a lot of fit and lite Greek yogurt with 80 calories. also do some babybel cheeses and Nature Valley Protein bars (sold in the snack section at Wal-Mart's, though I limit all of this to one snack per day and that is it. sugar free hot chocolate is a nice treat too with only 20 to 25 calories per cup. Sometimes I find myself wanting something that I have in the pantry for the grandkids and I make myself drink a tall Water instead. Usually I don't want it after that. Go stare at yourself in the mirror for a little bit and tell yourself what it is you like about yourself that you didn't several months back. Do whatever works for you to make this journey successful.

How Tight?
A lot of times the band is too tight and it is easier to eat slider foods and therefore the bandee does just that. If you are vomiting up what you are eatng, ask yourself are you chewing well? Are you taking small enough bites? Are you taking time between each bite to allow what you have eaten to go down? Lastly, are you eating too much? All of these are very important.

HELP Fill problems
Even if by chance they missed the port completely, it's just saline and the body would absorb it pretty quickly. They would know if they missed it immediately. When you hit the floor of the port, it's hard like a rock.

Quick Port Question
I've read that there's a lower profile port out there. Maybe you could have it replaced

trying my hardest..
My hunger is in the evening too. I factor on an evening snack....usually a Greek lite and fit yogurt. I drink lots of water in the evening so most of the times I don't need the snack

Hello, I think I need Help
Angela, in reading your post, with the limited information you give, I'm not really sure WLS is your next step. Sounds like you have the right tools and are just not using them. I believe if it were me, Id try that route first. Get with Paul and make him your personal trainer. Try to regain control of your eating habits and see if this works for you. As for the asthma, I've had it for years and refuse to let it stop me. I hit the gym 5 to 6 days a week. I went through basic training in the Army. Its easy to make excuses, but that's not good. Push your body to its limits. You'll need to do this after weight loss anyway, so might as well try it prior to WLS. Looking back now, I made a lot of excuses and that got me to the point that believed WLS was the only option. Don't get me wrong, I'm grateful for the results. Just not sure that I couldn't and shouldn't have tried harder on my own. These are just suggestions, and I'm not always right.

Protein Supplements
I like the EAS and the Premier Protein. 11 oz Premier Protein has 160 cal, 30g prot and I think 4gm carbs with 1 gm sugar. I believe that is right, but I don't have any here to look at. Its richer than the EAS, and I like both, but for flavor, I really like the premier best.

Lap Band or Gastric Sleeve?
I've lost 70 lbs with my band and I ate ribs last night and have more energy than I ever had. That's closer to normal than I've ever been. I think either surgery will work for you, but you'll surely get alot of people here who think its their job to make your decision for you. I'd do my reasearch if I were you. Choose whats right for you.

Take off those regain glasses and turn it around!
Love it and yes, its so true.

Surgery rescheduled and only had 4 days left on preop diet
It does suck. You'll get there though. Chin up.

Husband has hesitation about lapband
I know how you feel about the physical limitations. My daughter talked about wanting to go to this huge flea market and I've wanted to go, but I knew I would hate it as I would tire out so quickly. Now, I have more energy than I ever had and hubby and I go to the gym regularly and are planning hiking trips and alot of other fun stuff. Things I had written off are starting to sound exciting and tempting. I understand your husbands reservations, and I would never try to talk somebody into doing something they didn't want to do themselves, but I will say, this was the best decision I've ever made. Your children are young and you want to be able to enjoy them and time with them. We're here for you, feel free to get involved and learn about your options.

I Dont Think Ya'll Are ready for this.
I'm not insulted by my 6 year old granddaughter who told me (around my starting point) that I had a fat little belly just like Santa Claus or my old grandma that told me (before I was even overweight but felt I was) that I had a good figure because I had wide birthing hips. Sometimes I think people mean well, but don't know how to express themselves. I hope thats the case. Even knowing where the subject has been, I still find its easy to slip into that judgemental mode. I work constantly on not being so quick to assume that everyone that is riding in wheelchair basket at Walmart who is morbidly obese is that way because they choose to ride in the carts and not walk. I tore my miniscus about 2 years ago and though it killed me to walk, I refused to ride in the cart because I felt people would judge me cuz I was overweight.
