Starting 5:2 and no scale this week

I do my modified fast until dinner usually. I started out doing a protein snack at around 2pm and then decided I really didn't need it. I do dinner and usually end up with between 350 and 400 calories. It works for me. Gives me 20 to 22 hours of fasting.
  2. Do your research but just remember, if you are looking for negatives, you can find them, if you're looking for positives you will find them too. You will be the biggest factor in this equation. It will only work if you work it. The same with all wls surgeries. I have a friend who had bypass and lost 40 lbs and never another. She recently visited her surgeon and asked about lapbanding cuz her son, daughter and husband have been successful with it. He did tests and told her theres nothng wrong with her pouch, she's eating around it. You can do the same thing with band and sleeve. Do your research with the thought in mind that its a tool and if you do your part, it will work. I've lost 82 lbs and am keeping it off. I have no regrets.

    HELP NEED INPUT PLEASE!

This is all weird. If you haven't had any fills except in surgery, how do you know you can't tolerate fills. And the fills just go into your port to your band. As for the pain, why are you having it? Mine is not comfortable if I lean against it or put pressure on it too hard, but other than that, I don't hardly know its there.

    Post surg, Before first fill

I would suggest that you develop a pattern/plan as well. It may take 3 , 4 or more fills to get you in the green zone which means months. I wouldn't want to waste that time. Focus on chewing, small bites, resisting snacking, portion control, the works

    Knee injuries?

I've had 3 minuscus repairs and the good thing is after surgery it's immediate relief. I believe we have a lot o wear and tear on the knees due to our obesity, but I think the biggest issue is that we go from sedentary to highly active very quickly. Our body doesn't have time to build the muscles we need to do this.

    Getting annoyed and being sensitive.

I love the way you described nurses. I've been one for 22 years and I totally get it. You do become very close. Almost too close. As for having to tell your manager, your HR was wrong. As for your name being on the surgery schedule, it didn't have to be. You were a pt and you had the right to confidentiality. Your friends mean well I'm sure. They have gotten comfortable in the unit just the way it is and you are threatening to change it, even if its just you youre changing. They will come around and become supportive as you show progress. But, remember, they are women, and they will also gossip. I guess that has helped me to stay on track, some of my coworkers anticipation of my failure. They don't do it on purpose, its just their nature.

    Seeing Success!

My surgeon gave me a folder with most of this information. I didn't get a chance to read it as my schnauzer son got hold of it. I had to learn much the same way all of the things we're supposed to learn. I experience easy days and hard days, the main objective is keep focus and not let yourself surrender to the "rut". As justwatchme says, follow the rules and it works. If wonder off the trail, I see it taking me places I don't want to be.

    Recent clinic visit

I have spoke to my surgeon about the same thing. My surgeon still says the lap band is the best thing going. I'm not knocking anybody's weight-loss surgery, to each his own. I think there are a large number of people out there who are noncompliant. Then they want to blame the band. Not always the case, but many times.

    Slipped band!

Sounds like you are doing what you need to do to keep from regaining/what would have kept you from gaining in the first place

    So frustrated!

My surgeon says that exercise accounts for only about 10% of wt loss, the rest is food.

    Newbie

Not saying you wont be able to handle magic mountain at 5 days postop, but you're probably going to wish you hadn't. I was fully functional at by day 6 but wouldn't have felt good doing what youre talking about doing till 2 or 3 weeks.

    Am I too tight?

    Definitely merits checking out

    Just curious.

I haven't found anything I can't eat if I want to. But, if you plan to lose weight there are several of these that you should avoid. Remember it's these things that that put you where you are. My problem with these things, if I have one, I've lost most control and will inevitably have more.
  23. I wanted a faster loss in the beginning. I expect 2 to 3 lbs loss per week. Then my doc convinced me that 1 lbs a week would be healthier. After the first few months of 1 1/2 to 2 lbs a month, I settled in to 1 lbs a week and did the rest of my journey like this. Once the weight was gone, it was gone. I'm now at goal. It won't happen over night, but it will happen. Like taking a trip, enjoy the stops in between. This will give body time to adjust with your losses.
  24. The band is removable but as long as its working and not causing problems why would you. The port is the only part of the band that is observable from outside of the body and all you see is a small rise and that's not usually til after you lose your weight. I'm very thankful for the band. You don't tell what your weight loss is or your anticipated goal. There are other surgeries as well and one of the others could be just as good for you or better.. I think all of the surgeries have merit, but I chose the band for my own personal reasons. Don't overthink it while youre doing your research. That's easier said than done.

Great to see this thing is really working for everybody. My last fast day, I totally blew it at the end off the day. But, I figured afterwards, I still had less calories than I do on a no fast day.
