    Baffled!

MammaJamma42, I will try adding more protein shakes in inbetween meals. In a way, I feel like my body is starving/in shock.

    Baffled!

Any of the food I am eating is approved on the mushy stage of my diet. My mushy stage started at day 10-14 after my surgery. My stomach was able to tolerate it, so I was able to start it. The fish is really the only solid food I am eating. When I do eat that however, I chew it so well and take such small bites that it becomes a mushy paste.

    Baffled!

That explains my dad's weight loss. He was over 400 pounds. Unfortunately for him, he has gained back some of the weight he lost with gastric bypass and is now back up to 315 after 8 years.

    Baffled!

Jenwebber-I don't use myfitnesspal even though I have it. I find it more confusing than loseit. I was supposed to see my surgeon on Monday, but he canceled my appointment and I wasn't able to get into him until October 29th. By then I will have my first fill. I know I need to drink more Water. As for walking, for my (and my DDD chest) walking is too strenuous on my back and actually makes me work harder than the ellypitcal. I am doing just a low impact on my machine. I'm fine for 15 minutes--just gets me sweating, no straining. It's a relief to hear that other people out there went through the same thing. I've had family heckling me about not losing more weight. My father went through gastric bypass and dropped a ridiculous amount of weight quickly. It was just disconcerning to be working so hard and eating so little and see no results.
  6. I'm 9 days post op and my port sight hurts still too. It especially hurts if I sleep on my stomach at night.
  7. Hi there! I am 9 days post op and I gained 2 pounds as well. I feel as though as soon as I started the mushie stage my body was starting to switch out of the starvation mode it was on during the liquid diet. I think all our bodies need time to adjust (i hope) to the band. I mean, if I'm eating 700-800 calories a day, there should be no reason that I should gain weight right? It's impossible. Try adding more physical activity in your day? Today I went grocery shopping and felt like I had a work out because since surgery I've barely walked more than 50 feet in one day. You're not alone! Nicole
  8. Does anyone else get gas pains every night? I can set my watch by it. I get a sharp pain on my right side that goes away while I sleep. At first I thought I pulled a muscle, but when I got it again the next few nights I knew what it was. I determined that if I eat a high Protein dinner I get them. I am 7 days post op. Will they go away later on or will I have them forever now? I've tried walking, moving around, and gas x strips to no avail. Has anyone had success with beano?
  9. What does full feel like with the lap band? When I say full, I mean not to the point where you get the tightness in your chest. I'm having a hard time telling or maybe even just scared.

    The urge to binge

I was day 6 today. I read on another drs website that his patients could have cream of wheat. So today I thinned it out and had half a cup for breakfast and the rest as a snack later on. I was fine and satisfied.

    Spooky October-Challenge

Name, real or screen: Nicole Goal weight for October 31st: 335 Weight on October 1st: 359 Age: 27 City/State: Connecticut Dietary goal for October: learn how to use my new lap band Exercise goal for October: use my elliptical 10 min every other day Personal goal for October: drink more water Date banded: 10/2/13 Total weight loss since banding/pre op diet: current weight 344 (10/8), total so far 25 pounds! Favorite Halloween Activity: dressing my dog up
  14. I will probably be banded in October 2013. I am looking for someone to see me through the pre-op diet and post-op life style process. I have been going through the process since May of 2013. I am currently waiting for my insurance company to approve the surgery. I am a first grade teacher from Connecticut and am 27 years olds. I live with my boyfriend and my dog Buster. I have no children and basically live for my job and my students. I am having a hard time understanding the dietician and the stupid weight watcher like point value system diet she wants me to follow (the government plate crap). I need someone to talk to when I want to eat instead of eating. Thank you
  15. Sugery went well! I will be happy to never have surgery again though, haha. I finally am starting to feel normal today. Still a little sore around the incisions. Gas pains are my worst enemy this week. Discovered last night that a heating pad helps tremendously.

    Baby food?

Is baby food considered a full "liquid" or a mushie? I am on the puréed strained soup full liquid stage. So far tomato soup is my jam. The dietician wrote down that I could have 3 tbsp. of cottage cheese as well. So my question is can I have puréed baby food?

    Baby food?

I HATE jello to begin with so no worries there. Perhaps too many Jell-O shots in college? Haha.
