  1. Good to hear you are feeling a little better. Sound like you could have some gas pains. Mine were wicked! Aghhhh! My large incision is to the left too. I am three weeks post surgery and feel great physically. Looking forward to getting some restriction this Thursday because I have none!!

    Ange

How is your energy these days? Have you started exercising yet? I haven't but I'm going to tomorrow. I have to go back to work on the 9th so need to start building up some endurance. Today is my last 'rest' day so I'm going to enjoy.

  2. Hi everyone' date=' western Nebraska here. I had my lapband done several years ago and had wonderful success then I had complications that ended with 3 surgeries and replacement of my port. But I AM heading back to the weight I was before. I had another fill last Monday and am really feeling like I am finally in the sweet spot again.[/quote']

I'm from western Nebraska as well!

  3. I have fibro as well. I just restarted my cymbalta. I took it for a while but gained 20 lbs. I was comfortable restarting it because I have the band. My fibro is worse when I don't sleep and after anesthesia. I have chronic fatigue as well (although people blame it on me working 60-70 hours a week and working on my doctorate full time, which I don't agree). This has been a tough recovery.

  4. You are not alone. I have always used my weight as a joke. My husband told me that he hoped I didn't leave him when I was skinny. I reassured him that I wasn't going anywhere. I would hope my personality will change for the best because I will have more energy. I understand all the questions but the bottom line is that you are doing it for you and for your health.

  5. Thank you Healthydnp & Brittani87. Yeah' date=' I just started full liquids after a week of clear liquids. And I've really been wondering if I did the right thing or if I'll ever be able to eat again. My diet said I could have really really soupy oatmeal so I had some this morning, thinking it would be good for my body to get something like real food, and that made me soooo sick. I was so nausea that I couldn't get out of bed for hours. I'm supposed to go back to work on Monday and I'm scared to death because of how horrible I feel. Am I just expecting too much too soon?[/quote']

I really needed 2 weeks to feel good. I had a lot of 'what did I do?' Moments but as you feel better they will be less. Take the phenergan an hour before you try to eat. So you won't be nauseated when you do eat. Give it a try.

  6. Im having pain on breathing in in chest. Also have little deep cough that just burns in my back where lungs are. Almost feels like a muscle spasm that moves up. Had surgery yest. Is this normal? I also have fibromyalgia and my entire body hurts from that today' date=' surgery always triggers more pain with that. I also can just not relax, ive been up since 6:45 yest. Help![/quote']

Are you taking your pain medication scheduled every 4-6 hours? Walking, coughing, and deep breathing will help the pain from the gas they used to inflate your abdomen. The muscle spasm I had too. It is where they attached the port. Heating pad will help.

  7. How's everyone doing? I'm 8 days post-op and im still having a hard time. Need to know if anyone else has felt like this. I feel really weak from not eating but then if I have something I get nausea and just feel horrible for hours afterward. I had my first follow up today and the Doc said everything looks great but I don't feel great. Is this just me?

It's not just you. It took me 2 weeks to feel better. The first week I really questioned if I did the right thing. Are you still on liquids? Did they give you any nausea medication?

  8. Hello to all from Joe in NYC. I was banded two weeks ago today' date=' and had my first esophogram and first follow-up appointment. Things are going well, down 25 pounds in a month - I did 2 weeks of Protein drinks pre- op. I'm scheduled for 1st fill in two weeks. Looking forward to getting to know everyone.[/quote']

Hi Joe and welcome. Congrats on your weight loss and band.

  9. I was banded 8-6 and had this thought a lot for the first week especially. I still have moments of panic like what was I thinking? However I have enjoyed watching the scale go down. I am a nurse practitioner and have sent numerous people to the surgeons to have this procedure. I can now empathise with my patients and could be good support when they have those 'uhoh' moments. Hang in there and get online when you have those times. This website is great.

  10. Well ' date=' I'm an official bandster! Surgery went great. I'm a little sore but nothing too bad. Have not has pain med since just after surgery. I also had a hiatal hernia repaired so I'm staying overnight in the hospital. Overall I'm thrilled at how well things are going. Fingers crossed that it continues! ð[/quote']

Good for you! Make sure that if you need the pain meds you take them! Keep us updated on your progress.

  11. Well' date=' tomorrow's the day! I finally feel like I'm ready. Between getting all the pre-op stuff done and trying to get as much done at work as I could, I've barely had time to think! Getting ready for this surgery has felt like a second job LOL! I'm SO ready to be on the other side and start the next phase of this journey![/quote']

Good luck we will see you in the other side!

  12. I'm home and feeling more rested in my own bed!

Gas pain has subsided which is great. The port incision is quite sore but the other cuts are perfect' date=' no discomfort at all.

Keeping up with pain meds and have just made myself a smooth chicken cup a soup! Yummy![/quote']

Glad you are feeling okay keep it up!

  13. No one knows your journey or story but you. People that call you a cheater are jealous they didnt do it first. If the lapband helps me keep from getting my feet amputated or to stay off dialysis then A cheater I shall be. Good Luck!

Thanks I totally agree. Extra weight is extra weight regardless if it is 60 lbs or 100 lbs. I am excited to have energy when the weight is off. How is everyone's energy so far? I am 2 weeks out and get tired easily. I had 2 other surgeries at the same time. My overall goal is to feel better and live better.

  14. I think so. I just am one of those people who usually doesn't like to air all of my business' date=' I like to keep my personal issues personal unless people ask, but I don't hide it. I have told a few people post surgery and they have been VERY encouraging and supportive! I know this was one of the hardest decisions that I have made in life, but I needed to do it. One thing a lot of people do not understand is that choosing to do lap band is not an easy path and I hope to educate them that this is not an "easy weight loss fix" for me. This is a tool that will help me in this lifelong battle that I have had. I will still have to work very hard at weight loss. I think unless you have gone through it, you will never truly understand. That is why I am so thankful for all of you my fellow bandsters!![/quote']

I agree that this was a big decision and one that none of us took lightly. I think it is hard to judge people when they haven't walked in our shoes. Having been called a cheater and then knowing what I have been through physically and emotionally I think alot of the criticism stems from people not wanting us to succeed. Where my bmi was 33 to begin with people often told me that I didnt need the band. However the weight still has caused me health problems. I too am thankful for everyone on this site.
