  1. My husband knows I get on here and is glad I have the support. I don't go to a local support group but am so glad I have this site. I can get on when I cannot sleep or when I'm having a hard time. This is my place to be sad, happy, and vent. Always nice to know there are others in the same place I am.

  2. I'm glad that this topic came up because I was a little nervous after surgery. I had to wait 2 weeks because I had my tubes tied and my uterus ablated the same time I was banded. I was worried about being on my back because of our stomachs rubbing. I am most comfortable with him behind me. I am hoping as I lose weight my sex drive gets better. Has anyone noticed a difference with weight loss? I wish there was a viagra for women.

  3. I know I shouldn't have but ate a few bites of watermelon within 3 min.had to throw it up. 1st time for that but I know I'm rushing my full liquids. I suppose there are strings in it. Dummy that I am the referral gas pain moved also to my upper back. Aaarrrhhh. I should have learn it 1st time around.

Hope work goes good tomorrow. You're a pro. Did you say you were a nurse? What type of work do you do? Good luck...be strong!!!

I am a nurse practitioner and have a full practice. I will hit the ground running tomorrow. I go weeks to months without a day off. Hoping my stress level does not get out of control and I can continue to get healthy. There will b a lot of questions from patients and staff. I know people mean well but don't want to have to explain myself. I haven't tried watermelon but it does sound good. I can see why you wanted some. Are you nauseated still after throwing up? Or was it a one time deal and done?

  4. This last bit has just brought tears to my eyes! I'm so happy for you' date=' and I realise that's exactly how I want and need to feel like that - proud of myself for taking control. I'm only in the very early stages of the decision, I've had my first consult with the surgeon and other specialists but I actually took a bit of a break because I had second thoughts - I convinced myself that there was more j could do, I should try again and reassess in another six months. I'm now starting to re-book appointments because I've been feeling anxious and upset. I went to Bali last weekend and I swam once. ONLY because my friends begged me to join them. I was so uncomfortable and it made me so upset. I'm 22 years old and I should be loving life and I'm scared that for every time that I give myself another six months to try a new diet, ill wake up one day and have spent all the happiest and most free years of my life in 'fat jail' where I don't enjoy anything....

I have been silently watching this forum for a few months and this is my first post. I am so thankful for it and for all of you who share your stories and help me work out how I'm feeling.

In response to this thread: one of my biggest concerns/ fears is who to tell. My immediate family already know about my plans (my mum has been banded many years ago) but other than that I think I want to keep it entirely private. Being quite young, my friends and people I associate with aren't mature enough to understand that this is for me and my health. And as a lot of you have said, I don't want (or need) any kind of that negativity in my life when going through something this big! :)[/quote']

I am 36 and I think about all the years I have yo yo dieted and I had wasted in 'fat jail' (I like that). My surgeon said that I was going to wish I did this years ago. I think you are smart doing this at your age and having energy and health to enjoy. I was banded 1 month ago and have lost 20 lbs. It doesn't sound like much but makes a big difference in how I feel. Good for you.

  5. I've had no weight loss at all in the week and a half since I moved to mushies. It's pretty frustrating' date=' especially when I'm not allowed my usual diet "staples" like grilled chicken and salad. I'm going to keep trying to up the Protein and Water and work on getting more exercise, and just keep waiting for the number on the scale to move! In a positive direction![/quote']

I would bet that you are still losing inches. I like to see the scale move too. It will catch up but the plateaus are frustrating.

  6. I started at 264 and now 219. Surgery was 4-22-13. I am having trouble feeling it and seeing it. I mean my clothes are loose and I see it a little. I cant wait until my brain catches up. i wonder how others see me? Can you tell a difference? Just a little or alot? I am serious' date=' I am not being an attention *****. I dont need you to say "you look great"...Just whether it is noticable I lost weight.[/quote']

I am still going to say it you look great. I see a big difference. I think you are right your brain needs to catch up.

  7. I feel human and in very little pain. It has been since preop on 8-8-13. It was feeling like it was going to be a long haul...but you all have been so supportive. Thx. To day a little gas...get my 1st fill on 9-2..and start mushies in a few days. I thought I wouldn't make it but I have and I'm looking forward to the next steps. Thx again.....be safe...stay strong in your faith with the Lord....He'll see you through.

    Great job Donna!

  8. What type of things are you doing? BTW.......I get first fill in 3 weeks. Yippee maybe I'll start losing weight. I'm taking the bad weight gaing pill every other day. Maybe that will help. After my fill or right before it I'll be on reg meds. Hope they all go down ok. Stay safe....be strong.

I am taking 5000 mcg of Biotin, 2 mvi a day, Iron once a day. I also bought some have loss Shampoo and cream. If it makes my hair thicker good for me, if it starts growing new hair so when I do lose it then I will be happy too. Hair loss typically starts at about 3 months after surgery. I'm glad you get your first fill soon. Hopefully they will help. Let us know how you do with your fill.

  9. I worry about hair loss as well. I'm planning on asking doctor at my next follow up if I should be taking Biotin which I understand is a Vitamin for hair/nails.

I take a Biotin, 2 Multivitamins, and an Iron a day. I eat at least 60 grams of Protein a day. Iron has a lot to do with Hair loss as well. We are at risk for iron deficiency because of the smaller amounts of food and being female. I also ordered some Hair growth products. Crossing my fingers that my hair at least stays as it is.

  10. It seems we are all going through a bit of a low where no weight is coming off' date=' or even creeping back on! I am just SOOOO frustrated with it, as I'm sure you all are too... The last three days I have just given up. I have eaten anything that I wanted. I have stayed away from the treadmill. I have not counted calories. And everyday I have told myself that I will turn it around tomorrow. But the next day comes, and my frustration takes over and I make bad decisions again. Another bandster buddy told me that it is normal because our bodies need to adjust to the sudden weight loss we had after surgery, but three weeks of staying the same?? All I can think of is that even though I'm eating healthy, maybe I'm eating too much? Aghhhh. I really don't know how to turn this around!![/quote']

I definitely thought I would be down more weight. My husband thought I would be more as well. I keep telling myself that my body is adjusting and I should only be losing 1-2 lbs a week not 5 (I wish). I eat mainly Protein. I don't do well with carbs so I eat a lot of eggs, meat, cheese, and take my mvi twice a day. I am more worried about Hair loss.< /p>

  11. My only worry is the 3 day clear liquid diet. I get supper crabby when I'm hungry :)

I think this part really concerns my husband too. He's already talking to me about trying to sleep through the 3 days and giving me suggestions what I should do to not think about the hunger.

Most everyone goes through a "withdrawal" from sugar and carbs. You can get headaches, be irritable, and a little nauseated however staying hydrated and using some sea salt in your drinks tends to help. The good news is that uoi shouldn't have major cravings after surgery because you have already gotten all the bad stuff out of your system. Tell him maybe he needs a hotel room for 3 days :)

  12. That would be awesome' date=' band buddy...lol

I'm also 5'2"...hearing your results after a month makes me even more excited.

    How are you feeling?[/quote']

I had my band Aug 6th and the first 2 weeks were tough. I had several periods of 'what the he** did I do?' It is good now and I have learned what the lifestyle entails and it gets easier all the time. Any problems or worries?

  13. Okay' date=' this is my first post and I'm going all out.

I saw some threads like this where people who are scheduled for surgery during this month can chat with one another. I'm scheduled for the 13th and couldn't be more EXCITED!

My highest weight was 195, I'm currently at 180. My BMI is 32, my goal is for a healthy BMI. I'd have a permo smile if the scale ever read 120 :D

Anybody else out there getting banded this month? I'm interested in hearing your goals, wants and wishes.[/quote']

We had exactly the same starting weight! I was banded the 6 th of august so almost a month out. I have lost 16 lbs and it has made a huge difference in how I feel. How tall are you? I'm 5"2". I would be glad to be your band buddy.:)

  14. Hey ya'll' date=' got a question...since moving to mushies last Wednesday, I have not lost one ounce. I weigh exactly the same as I did then even though I'm eating practically nothing (less than 800 calories/day). Is it common to "plateau" at this point? It's kind of frustrating considering I was losing really well up to now. Any thoughts?[/quote']

It is the weight loss does slow down even though like you said you are not eating much. You should still lose bit it is not unusual to lose 1-2 lbs a week.
