I'm sorry you are dealing with this from you BFF. It was the exact oppposite for me. My BFF has always been skinny and I was always fat. She never looked at me different and always supported me losing weight. When I decided to have surgery, she was and still is my biggest supporter. She supports my weight loss journey, we work out together, and she even supports my Health & Wellness new business.
If you two have been friends for over 25 years, I think you should talk to her. If she is jealous, its ok; let her speak her mind and give her a chance to explain how she feels. It doesnt really look like you two have had a conversation about it. Now that you are on this weight loss journey, and were able to get the insurance paid through insurance, support her weight loss journey too. This is the time you BOTH have to be supportive of each other. Its a hard road and its so much more fun with a partner.

First I'd like to say hello all my beautiful sleevers! Congrats on your victories small and large! This past year has been one of the most challenging years I've ever experienced. Add to that a life altering surgery (sleeve) and u have a powerful combination. It's had it's up and downs but thankfully my weight has been the major DOWN! I'm 10 pounds from goal and yes I've been a slow loser but slow and steady wins the race!!! I'm beyond thrilled my results and my confidence is higher than it's ever been! Yet I remain humbled by all my life experiences. I've been so inspired by so many of you and you have been my accountability partners in all that! For that I thank you dearly and sincerely! Stay focused and keep your eye on the prize! Love every piece of you flaws and all! Xoxo.

I am a runner. I've done a few 8k's and mudders. I never thought I would say I love running. I would not count on how many calories you intake and make sure you eat enough Protein after your runs. i would use a tracking app like MyFitnessPal to track how much calories you burn during your runs and make up the difference later in your meals. Before a run, I usually eat something light about an hour before, then after a run, drink a ProFit Protein shake to recover my muscles.
My suggestion is to not worry about the calories or track your calories burned to make sure you are getting 1200 a day.
PS- Congrats on the running. Its a huge accomplishment.

So a few months ago I started walking, then jogging, and now I am running. I typically run 3-5 miles three times a week. I am working on increasing my mileage and am planning on a half marathon this fall.
I am finding that I am struggling to balance the banded life with the running life. Before runs you are supposed to eat foods high in carbs and lower in Proteins....but that goes against everything I have been doing to be a successful bandster. And my nutritionist wanted me at 1200 calories a day, but with my longer runs I get HUNGRY!!!! I am planning to go back to see her and talk about it.
Is anyone else dealing with a similar problem? Any suggestions for me?

I am not a fitness instructor but I know that I took a class at my gym called willpower and Grace. It's the best class! It wiped into shape ;I believe it's due to that class that people refer to me as "tiny"

The health Club I go to...has pictures of all the "trainers" on a wall, along with their bio's....thay all have a BS degree in fitness, phys-ed, athletic training, etc.....
Many have coached HS Sports, or have some other experience....
Having said that...my friends wife instructs 2 group classes...not sure which, and she has no degree at all....but she does not do any one on one personal training...that may be the key....liability...

After 5 years banded, I want to become a certified fitness instructor but not sure what to study. I was thinking of teaching Spinning or Barre, since these are my 2 favorite classes.
Who is a fitness instructor and can guide me?
What is your favorite group class at the gym?

Fit4Me got a reaction from Wendydarling19 in Banded 4 days... Liquid phase is killing me!
This is the worst 2 weeks ever but its all mental. A couple of months ago, I did a 10 day liquid cleanse and the first 3 days were the worst, but once I didnt focus on hunger, I was able to complete my full 10 days. And that was only drinking Water with lemons, nothing else.
You can do it. Mix up your taste buds and make sure you are getting your Protein shakes in. When you go from eating whatever you want, to a restriction in 24hrs, it gets frustrating and I feel your pain. I wish I would have know of more things to eat during that phase. I lived on gatorade, Protein Shakes and broth.
I suggest you invest in a juicer and nutribullet. I still live off both of these items and make a juice or smoothie every day.
juice some fresh fruti and veggies (for energy), make Protein Shakes (not too thick, no ice) using almond milk, Peanut Butter & banana (for fullness). Or try with fruit but not any with seeds. Eat sugar free popsicles. Also, eat all types of Soups as long as you stay away from the chunky stuff. If you can, make your own Soup to help with the high sodium.
Believe me, you have way more options than you know. You are probably scared and like all of us, not sure what to eat because we are used to soild food.

I'm very frustrated and hungry :,( I am on liquids and I just keep feeling hungry no matter what I consume. I know this is a short time in the long term goal but I just wish I could at least be on puréed right now. I can feel that whatever I eat is going right through. As it should because I'm only on liquids and have no restriction in my band yet. I'm just venting. A lot of it is head hunger but this is rough! I guess it's also good because it means im healing well and the stomach swelling is going down.

i am having a preop checkup tomorrow after having a MRI that was showing my gallbladder in pretty bad shape from previous attacks. i so agree with you about having right sided pain checked out. i think i passed a pretty big stone sept. 2011. i remember that date because i was already in the hospital for my heart but they were giving me pain medication for pain in my right side. all the tests for my heart required me to be on all those crazy little tables turning this way and that way. i remember crying out in pain. over the years i had pain there and my doctor did a abd. ultrasound but it was negative for stones. so i lived with the pain until now. i can't exercise because of it. the pain goes right through my body front to back. i have a swelling or mass above my port. it hurts my back when it is press . so... i am having my gallbladder removed and praying the back pain will no longer be there. It would be such a relief. thank you for posting. i needed to read your story.

Well, after 5 yrs since my Lap band, I finally had to have my gallbladder removed. At first, I thought it was kidney stones. I had 3 episodes of pain and finally the last one, the pain would not go away. The pain started on my back, and then went to the right side of my stomach near my port. On the last pain episode, my port was poking out so large and it scared me really bad. It turns out, I had a stone blocking the entry, the size of a river rock. I haven't noticed any difference since my gallbladder was removed. For those worried about this, don't be. The worst thing is the pain.
I ended having surgery the week of my best friends wedding. I was the maid of honor and had to fly to Miami for the wedding. Lets just say, I got out of the hospital on a Friday at 7am, and was at the airport at 11am drugged up. I almost didnt make it to her wedding and it would have been a huge regret.
Lesson of the day: If you experience pain, go straight to the ER or see a doctor. Don't wait for the 3rd time like I did.
I know this is a common procedure in WLS patients and I'm now a statistic too. lol

I was 26 when I had mind done and I carried most my weight in my stomach! I was 296 pounds when I had my surgery! As soon as I was cleared for work outs I stared core workouts because I was told that if you build up the muscle the skin attaches to it! I also started as soon as my wounds were healed palmers with extra elastin on my stomach twice a day! I have lost 120 pounds and I do have a little skin but my doctor assures me that if I keep working it will get there! The one other thing I have done is the It works body wraps! It has helps detoxify my skin and snaps back faster! I am very happy with all my results and my stomach which I never thought I would ever say!

If you don't know whether it's kidney stones or your gallbladder, you need to see your doctor ASAP. If your baritric surgeon isn't a general surgeon as well, then you need to see your family doctor.

Well let me say this.... Beginning 1/1/14, I will have better coverage, at half the premium (with NO SUBSIDY) and similar deductibles as I have now. The coverage on my daughter will be even better because hers includes dental and eye care.
I completely agree that this will be a wait and see, but what it looks like now, for me at least, this will be a huge benefit. I'm sure it's different in different area's and how many carriers are offering coverage, obviously, the more carriers, the more competitive the pricing will be.
