  1. Is it because we are experienced with chew chew chewing with the band? I don't think I ever take a whole 20 minutes to eat. I am 7 weeks post revision from band to bypass, so I'm not eating that much anyway. I can't make 4 oz last 20 minutes.

I have almost identical story, first lapband then bypass. I am 4 weeks post surgery and I have no idea what to eat.

I don't want what they want me to eat, I just don't feel like eating. I like to eat apples, greek yogurt is also OK, but I don't care for cottage cheese. Can you tell me what you ate? You are doing so well.

  2. I have almost identical situation. I lost around 90 lbs. with LAP BAND.

Then it was removed, health reasons.

In 5 months I gain 50 lbs. Pre-op I lost 20 lbs. two weeks after bypass I only 10 lbs. My family thinks I lost a lot.

I can go without feeling hungry for a long time. My BMI is 33.1

Maybe I'm not eating enough??? What to do, is this normal, my doctor thinks it's all good, not to worry.

I guess we just loose less weight if we are light :)

  3. Don't be. I had identical situation. Lab band surgery 3 years ago and removal this year in March. My was leaking and created a problem. i was twice in the hospital. After 5 months without band i gain 50 lbs!!!!

my doctor wanted my to heal first and is office people started to work I didn't have to do anything they took care of it.

They contact the insurance and they approved it.

Last Tuesday 9/15, I had a bypass surgery. It feels great, no pain, love it.

I'm sure you also will be approved, don't worry, talk to your doctor.

    Good luck

I'm so depressed! Don't I deserve a 2nd chance? The removal of my band was approved but the bypass denied. So if I have the band removed, I'll gain a bunch of weight and then where will I be? I've already gained 11 pounds just since all of the Fluid was removed from the band. I am beside myself. I don't have the kind of money to self-pay. Should I fight this? I'm told I need 6 month weight loss documentation -- but the only thing I have are invoices from Nutrisystem where I tried them for 2 months approximately 6 months ago. Will that qualify? I just don't know what to do. Any advice?

  4. Not to confuse you, I had lap band removed last month and I'm waiting for revision surgery, sleeve I'm trying to find out all I can about it. :)

Just eat their products an don't deviate in any way from the diet they give you each time you go back. You will be fine. Remember it's a must for you to drink 64 loss ozs, of Water and at least 60 grams an over of Protein. That is the key to weight loss. Not much fat, an barely any carbs. That's hard but it's an entirely different way of eating. No more sweets.

what about Vitamins? Do you take any? Any recommendation?

  6. I was not so lucky. I waited 1 year after the band had been removed. 1st surgery the suture was not closed, so another surgery two days later and again not closed. Then I got a heavy infection in the abdominal cavity. Another surgery to put in a stent. Did not sit properly, so another stent was placed on top of that one. Did not work either, so both came out and another one was put in. Meanwhile infection and inflammation got worse and worse. Many more spectroscopic measure, Water in the lung area, 5 drainages and one that had to stay in for 3 months until finally the stent could be removed.

I was in the hospital for 3 months, came out 66 lbs lighter but so weak that I was in a wheelchair, then in a walker and now finally I can walk by myself. Still very weak and burnt out.

From all the antibiotics I had numerous other problems and my CRP now is up again to 150 (normal is <5) and I have pain, can still not really eat properly. So I do not get enough Protein which I need urgently.

    Hi Elia1981,

after reading your post I'm so scared to have a sleeve surgery, had my band removed last month and I'm having a lot of problems with infections, but on the outside. My family don't want me to go thru the surgery, but I know I have to, I don't want to regain my weight, I am so confused and don't know what to do???? Any advise???

  7. I also had horrible scarring and adhesions. My surgeon was going to do a revision but once he got in there he felt it would be better to let my stomach heal and return to a semi-normal shape. I had to weight four months for the Sleeve surgery. I had the band for 9 years though, and apparently the damage was extensive. I am also surprised they still do the Lap-Bands, and surprised anyone would want it.

Did you gain any weight during that four months and how did you feel after the sleeve surgery?

  8. I am six weeks out of revision surgery (January 29th) and down 55 pounds at this point (way more weight than I ever lost with lap band). I saw my surgeon for a one month follow up last week and am amazed at the amount of damage that was done to my stomach by the band. He told me that the band had adhered to my stomach and was eroding through. He said there were small holes throughout my stomach where the band had attached itself. He was able to fix everything in one surgery (thank god...no way I could have done two surgeries) and I have been on the mend for a month and a half.

What is amazing is that I had no symptoms of anything that could be wrong. No fever, reflux, etc. The only time I suspected anything is when I would go for fills and the band would be unfilled and I could actually feel it pulling my stomach (worst feeling ever).

I'm glad you are feeling good, I had my band removed last month, but no revision surgery yet. My doctor wants my stomach to heal first, I don't know how long it will take? I had similar damages done to my stomach, but I had fever for about two months, first I thought it was just a flu, but my fever was not going away even with the antibiotics. I had a pain by my port area. After the surgery all my wounds started to get infected, not a nice thing.

How long it took you to heal after the removal and how long you waited to have the revision surgery, any problems?

  9. My symptoms were pain in the port area, every time I ate it felt like the food is not going down to my stomach, felt like its was going to the side, inside my port, or the wires, the area was painful and sensitive. When the doctor check it on the xray he saw it too, it looked like a big leak. I never had any coughs or reflux, but I do have Barrett's and was taking my meds.

At this point they left me without anything, I am so scarred that I'm going to gain the weight I lost.

Liz If you don't mind me asking, what were your symptoms? You mention fever, anything else? Let me tell you I am freaking out! Now it seems like I'm starting to
experience things that I have not experienced before. Could just bestress related or avery cold storm that has come through.

I am now experiencing night coughs and reflux. I am sleeping with 3 pillows to keep
things down and my band has tightened up so much that I have to sip Water very slowly at times.

I am very grateful for the band and will miss it! I am also scared about the next chapter.

  10. Hi guys,

your posts help me a lot. Just last week I had my band removed, saw the doctor on Monday and had a surgery on Wednesday. He said I have a huge leak, a hole in my stomach, infection and the rest. I was also running fever for about 2 months, no doctor knew what is going on, antibiotics didn't work. So I had an emergency surgery. Stayed in the hospital for 5 days. My doctor is telling me he will do the sleeve surgery after about 3 months, when my stomach heals. I still don't feel good, still have a slate fever every day, I am on full liquid diet, but day by day is better. Going back to the clinic next Monday.

I had my band for about 3 years, always had a pain by my port, but the weight loss was good, about 85 lbs.

I loved my band, I'm a little scared about next surgery, but I don't want to gain the weight!!!!

  11. I have found that if the Water is at faucet temperature (not refrigerated) and my band isn't tight' date=' I can drink water just like I used to. I guess everyone varies, but I do avoid ice, etc because it causes my band opening to tighten up due to cold.[/quote']

I'll try it today, don't care about icy water but...... I had a fill yesterday, let's see if I can feel the difference ;)

  12. As I was reading everyone's comments I was gulping down a Water bottle. During my pre op I have been trying my hardest to not drink so much while I eat' date=' but I'm infamous for it. 3-4 glasses of whatever the beverage is during my meal. Soooo I've been trying my hardest to take it slow. All in time! Best Wishes.[/quote']

    How are u doing now?

  13. "Port Pains"??? What are you speaking of woman? omg.. my husband didnt' mention this. I am scared... :(

Don't be scared  I can feel my port, they told me its attached to our muscles and when I exercise I can feel it, and I left it like that. But when I lay down I can feel it and if I drink fluids before I lay down it kind a "hurts" Next week I'll see the doctor and I'll ask him again, OK?

  14. I was just reading one website http://drsimpson.net/fills/Lap-band-problems/food-stuck-pain/food-stuck-pain-after-eating.html that's were I got my idea. I'm so afraid of stretching my pouch, when you taking about the pain in your left shoulder I have one still, one year after my surgery and one more pain I have maybe some of you have it as well, my port "hurts" Every time I drink more Water, more then a sip, about a 6-8 oz I can feel my port right under my skin, on the left side and it hurt, it gets hard. Maybe it sounds funny, but I always had it and they told me it's OK Does any one else is experiencing same symptoms?

  15. Do you know if you can have your pouch stretched and your food can still get stuck? Sometimes it feels like it, I have symptoms of stretched pouch, pain in the left shoulder but I can't eat much and some food gets stuck. I have that pain very often ever since the surgery so I never thought it's a problem. I have an appointment with my doctor next week but until then did some of you experienced something similar? Please help!
