  1. Hi all,

Ok so for the last few months I have noticed I'm having on and off days.. For example one day I can. Eat or drink, the next day I can hardly eat at all..

I was wondering if this had something to do with my periods?

I'm not 100% sure because it's only since Christmas time I have started to become regular where as before it was hardly ever!!

I have made an appointment to speak with my dietitian to see what she thinks but just wanted someone else's opinion?

I'm also going away on Saturday and I'm really worried about flying. The flight for this one is only about 3 hours but 3 weeks after this I fly to Mexico and that's 11 hours!? Any suggestions for flying with it?

  2. Hiya!!

Yes It was really good thank you! I got second place so I was absolutely made up!

I made a picnic for everyone with sandwiches

And for me I had a flask with homemade Soup in it and some cracker breads and Just a tub with chicken in, but to be honest with you I didn't really eat much because I hardly stopped all day.

And by the end of it all I was too tired to eat ????

It was a great work out! Haha x x

  3. Hi all,

So tomorrow I'm going ploughing with our horses all day and I need to take my own food.

I really struggle to think of ideas that are good for me and the band when I'm going out like this. All I can think of is sandwiches but I don't want to take bread as it can get stuck!

I'm trying to stay away from Pasta and rice too..

Since my op Iv really gone self-conscious and the thought of people stood around all day watching me petrifies me but I know it's something Iv got to do to get over it...anyway... Because I'm so worried I thought I would take some soft foods with me?

Any ideas on good soft food?

  4. I had my l band fitted a year ago this month. (Privately) After my surgery the support I was given from my surgeon was great, I spoke to the nutritionist once a week. After my 3rd fill that was it I haven't spoken heard anything from my nutritionist, I have tried to get in contact a few times regarding different things. She had put me on a diet that she set out and I didn't lose any weight. I'm not blaming them for me not losing because at the end of the day I know it's down to me but I'm still learning and I felt like they just dropped me after I had give them my money.

Does anyone know of any good nutritionists that work with the band or any good advise??

    Thanks in advance x

  5. Hi all, just wanted to know what everyone's portion sizes are like? I'm 9 months post op and think I might still be eating too much as I keep going for the "full" feeling or until the plate is empty rather than when I'm satisfied. Iv never really weighed or measured out food as I always use small plates ect but think it's time I did so. Any advise on Portion Control would be great :-)

  6. Hi all, I was banded in June 13, after my surgery in the first few weeks I lost around 2stone but since then nothing! In august time I was prescribed aunti depressants as I got so low that I physically couldn't be around anyone other than my close family. If I was around anyone other than basically my partner and about 4 other people I found myself self harming but not being aware I was doing so. I'm now still on the tablets but finding I can now start to leave the house without the worry or stress I have been getting but still feel slight anxiety. I'm now 8mls in my 10ml band but I don't feel as though it's working for me or maybe I'm not working for it? I have trouble eating.- I feel like I have good days or bad days.. I can eat one thing fine one day and the next there's just no chance. I have had food stuck a few times and iv had to make myself sick to bring it up, which I know it can't be healthy for me to be doing that so I find it easier to go with softer foods. I haven't eaten meat since my surgery as I'm scared of getting stuck and the pain I get with it. Has anyone had problems like this? Has anyone had to fight depression along side eating problems? All advise would great x

  7. I'm really struggling for ideas for Breakfast.

I can't eat bread so toast is a no go. Iv been eating cereals but I'm getting really bored of them. I'm the kind of person that can eat something for so long then I'll get bored and never eat it again.

I'm not much of a big eater in the morning so I normally have my breakfast at 9-30ish when I get to work so I can't do too much cooking.. Any ideas?

Also ideas for main meals would be great as I love to make new things :-)

  8. Hi all..

I had my 3rd fill taking me unto 7ml on Monday... I have been fine and had no problems at all until today, I feel like I can't even drink with out it coming back up and having the most horrendous pain in my chest and back..

Any idea on what's going on?

I haven't eaten anything today because I had a mouthful this morning and brought it straight back up?

  10. I had my band fitted in June and I have struggled with getting a loss. I speak to people that have had a band and they have lost loads. I think it's because i haven't treated it as a diet more of a I can eat what ever just not as much! If your really craving something like chocolate maybe try eating something healthy than you know will fill you and then have a little bit? I have tried it a few times an it satisfies me because iv had the thing I am craving and it feels more than iv actually had.

Or pick a day and have a treat day rather than little bits hear and there. So instead of bits of "junk" in the week maybe say Saturday go out for tea or have something that you have craved in the week and a glass of wine?

Keep your head up and keep smiling! We are all in this together and we will all beat it! X

  11. Hello!

Ok..To start you do not need to apologize' date=' that's what this site is for

Tips on slowing down. Put your fork down between bites. Don't get your next bite ready to go whilst you chew. Chances are you are going to put another bite into your mouth before finishing the first. This is also helpful because in order to appreciate when you are satisfied (aka not hungry aka full < I say full so I won't exclude it) you need to evaluate after every bite. It's not like before where when you ate alot suddenly you feel like you are carrying around a baby. Rather, you are alloting time for the vagus nerve in your throat to be stimulated by your growing food pouch. This nerve than in turns sends a signal to your brain to say you are full. If you speed right past that, it's more likely you'll overshoot that and get to the uncomfortable stage where you stretch out your band. Now with that being said, if you are new and you don't have alot of restriction, this may take awhile before you can actually appreciate a fullness in your pouch that makes you feel satiated, so be patient it will come. Other tips for slowing down, don't talk or get distracted while eating. I can't even eat w/ my kids. More than likely they'll ask questions, or I have to tell one or the other to stop doing something etc. I've noticed I would hurry to swallow so I can speak in time. Bad news and not a good idea. So if necessary seclude yourself until you get a real handle on this. Instead of carrying around baby utensils, take time to precut your food and than you can use a regular fork. Just be sure to pick up one bite at a time. A smaller utensil doesn't accomplish this, and I agree, is not flattering at all ahhaha. I know there's tricks we do in privacy, but I really tried to acclimate to real life circumstances and trained myself to eat accordingly.[/quote']

Haha ok ill ditch the baby utensils! Thank you for the advice on eating alone. Iv never thought about that and how talking to others while eating dose affect concentration. I shall give it a go! X.

  12. Can I ask what was used to close the incisions?

I had glue and I did have a lump under one of mine. I had it checked and it was just the glue so was nothing to worry about. It's gone now but if you are worried then ring your clinic nurse or surgeon. They are there to help you and guide you and will probably have seen all kinds like this before x

  13. I'm really sorry, I feel like I only post things when I'm feeling low and need to moan at someone, I don't really have anyone I can talk to you see as only a hand full of people know about my band and those who do aren't the most supportive about it.

Anyway.. I was banded in June and since then I have have 6cc put into my 10 band. I haven't had any problems really. I have only been sick once and that was my own fault because I didn't chew properly and rushed, before my band I always eat on the go so not used to taking my time. I'm still really bad at eating slow! Has anyone got any tips for slowing down? I did buy myself a egg timer that times 30seconds but as I'm always around people I feel stupid because they don't know. I have also got myself a baby's knife and fork set which is ok but I do get some strange looks!!

This is going to sound really stupid but can anyone explain what feeling full feels like? I really do feel stupid for asking this. I'm really bad at picking food thought out the day rather than having large meals so iv never really felt full. This does worry me quite a lot.

I have millions of more questions but I don't want to bore people with them.

Again I'm sorry for the moan!!

If anyone would like to talk and have a moan back please feel free!!

    X x

  14. I'm at 6 in my 10 band. I can eat and eat bread, rice, pastas with no problems. I do have trouble with meats and I guess I have started to avoid as much meat as possible as I know it hurts. I have only actually been sick once and that was chicken but apart from that I can eat what ever I want. Stick with it. If you find it hard to eat but don't want to have to give up then maybe look at your bite sizes. Or look for alternatives I used to eat a lot of bread. Now I try and choose a wrap or pitta as my dietitian said they can be easier to digest.

    X x

  15. So I'm now 3 months post op. everything is fine my band has 6 in it so I'm feeling it.

I have had half a tooth fall out on me today when eating.. Iv got an emergency appointment tomorrow. I was just wondering as normally if I was to have a filling or anything I would be put under local anaesthetic. With me now having a band will it effect it in any way?
