  1. My wife was not initially in favor of me doing this. She said to diet and it will be OK, well why would it work now when it did not work for years!

What had a big impact was when I told her at my Psych review that the Doc said it was a shame that I had no support from anyone! She felt that. I also told her that I want to live longer for myself an FOR HER! I told her that she knows that my health problems will be made worse. Now down about 18 lbs. and being able to still go out to dinner together(I have to make good choices). She is happy for my surgery!

  2. First of all this is not ez!

You are a normal person, just one that has a weight problem!

As for friends/family they may be afraid for you or for themselves.

What I mean by that is the operation (afraid for you), and then you have a good chance of being a different person (afraid for themselves) !

  3. I was not happy a while back because my weight lose stopped only after 2.5 weeks (after surgery). So I stopped weighing myself so much. Had trouble with amounts I was eating (ate to much), but now I think I'm getting the hang of how to do this! At least at this point! I have been on regular food about a week and here is how I see how to work with the band. I have not counted calories but try to eat good food, of course Protein first, then veggies, sometimes a carb, even a small desert . 3 meals a day and maybe a bit of yogurt (greek). THATS IT!

Weighted in this morning (after about 2 weeks) 2lb loss. and feeling good!

One question though; At dinner time I can not feel satisfied, I was thinking about drinking more water/crystal light. Doc told me no liquid .5 hour before and 1 hour after a meal and it's after the meal I think I need to drink more to feel satisfied? What to do?

    TIA

  4. I'm 4 days preop and I feel so sad I see a lot of people happy, excited, and ready. Why do I feel this way? I feel like my lifes not gonna change. I don't have enough support at all my husband plays on the game and all I wanna talk about it lapband. He dose'nt wanna talk about it because he's tired of hearing about it I can just tell. Just sad please help me with words of encouragement. This would really make my frown turn upside down! Thank you!

I was not sure myself, and afraid. My wife was not real happy about my wanting this. She was fearful, but came to terms with me wanting to save my life for the both of us.

Being fearful that your life won't change after WLS is common. We all have failed trying to keep the weight off. Thats why we are all here.

Does your doctor have a support group, he/she should and I would go to meeting or two!

I am not that far along and I'm a bit apprehensive still! But I put my faith in my Doctors hands and hope far a day that I'm healthy and not morbidly obese!

  5. Just started regular food as per Doctor

That's pretty normal.. try to stick with the portion size your nutritionist and doctor both advised you on. How far out are you from surgery? there were days i needed to have a Protein Shake between lunch and dinner to just help.. some days i feel like i'm in hell and i go for a second fill next thurs! Best of Luck

  6. I'm in Bandster Hell. Being that I could not diet before the lap band successfully. Now I have to wait for 4 weeks till my first fill (Aug 27). I have the same diet problems as before being banded. I can eat anything I want, I just eat slower, I don't make real bad food choices but portion sizes are not optimum, less than before the band though. I will call my Doctor, but want input from the forum.
