  1. To all of u that had plastic surgery ( Tummy Tuck, arms etc). How much weight had u lost? Still

Losing or at ur goal ? Does insurance pay anything? I've only had my lapband since end of may but have lost 70 pounds and I can relate to the post if "flying with wings" my arms are driving me crazy and I know I will want to look at TT and having my arms done for sure. Feels so good to be thinner but looking at my naked body still scares the hell out of me!!!! Lol.

  2. I keep pinapple juice on hand in case I get stuck. Don't know what it is about pinapple juice but a couple of sips seem to do it for me!!! Hasn't failed me yet. I've only had a few usually from chicken or beef not chewing enough times .everytime I eat I try to remember how miserable and hopeless I feel when I get stuck and it motivates me to CHEW CHEW CHEW!!!

  3. When I get a fill my dr sticks the needle in and has me sit up and start drinking Water as he is filling the band. I tell him when I can feel it coming up and he gauges how much to fill with my feedback making sure I can swallow , drink fluids etc. I have never had the above problem. So sorry to hear so many do. Has to be miserable!!!!!

  4. It's very normal to have second thoughts and think " oh maybe I can try this on my own again " but for me I weighed the pros and cons. With the PROS winning hands down. If u make this commitment it's important u are disciplined and follow instructions from ur surgeon.

I too was 240 pounds 5' 4 " ish and 4 mos later down over 65 pounds and enjoying life again !

I came into this knowing it was not going to be easy and its just a tool. Couldn't be happier. No more sleep apnea, blood pressure back to normal and currently off my R/A meds.

Goodluck to u! And remember there is risks and failures to everything we do.

  5. Someone asked me if I had a girl or a boy? **** ive had a hysterectomy 15 years ago and my kids are on college ! Go figure . Always notice that men will compliment way before women. Amazes me that women I havnt seen for ever will not say a word like they can't tell I'm down 70 pounds!

I would never be like that. I'm always the first to compliment someone and cheer them on for their hard work!!! Some people :-(

  6. I've only had one fill since my surgery on may 29th. Went in to dr last month thinking he would fill me but said my weight loss is so good ( what he sees in bypass Pts not lapband) and just wanted me to continue as I was doing. He said he doesn't fill every time . I work at my weight loss . Can't say it's easy all the time but didn't expect it would be. Will keep on keeping on. Not an option for me to have gone thru surgery and not lose weight!

  7. Animal lovers are great !!!!! So sorry for ur loss :-(

U gave him a wonderful life and lots of love and will see him again someday. I'm a daughter of a veterinarian , so of course was born a softy for all animals !!! Lost my 200 pound 13 year old mastiff not long ago. It is losing a very important member of ur family . Keep ur chin up!

  8. That is craziness!!! First of all ask to be numbed up prior to fill. Couldn't imagine not being! Ouch. Also u paid for ur lapband surgery to be successful and work with u as a tool. Can't help u if ur dr can't fill it properly . Maybe he was embarrassed cuz he could'nt find it and was hurting u. Soooo sorry. I would be ur own advocate and insist to get in couple of weeks. Goodluck!!!!

  9. Agree with all the above. Record record record! I think it is so important to track every single thing that goes In ur mouth . I use "calorie counter", but tons of good ones available. Plez don't compare ur weight loss with others as we are all so different with the rate of loss. Keep on keeping on , stay the course and don't get discouraged. Any loss is going in the right direction. Good luck!!!! :-)

  10. I'm 3 mos postop . Typically day for me "smartstart" Cereal or egg in morning , 1/2 turkey and Swiss sandwich on whole wheat with some fruit and carrots for lunch, chicken or tilapia , green Beans for dinner , string cheese for Snacks. I take alot of supplements: B12, mag, zinc, d,c,calcium, iron, biotin , Multivitamin. Track my eating on "calorie counter " and am down 56 pounds! Starting the "couch to a 5 k" workout with extra on elliptical. Hope that helps. ( oh and have only been filled once )

  11. I relate to "go walking " I have only had one small fill and averaging 4.5 pound loss a week and not hungry. Every time I go for follow up my dr. Says no fill needed. He actually says the amount of weight loss I have had in short period of time is more like what they see in G Bypass not lapband. So I'm very satisfied. Everyone is soooo different.

  12. I'm sorry to here ur struggles . I'm a nurse and have a few suggestions u might go over with ur primary care. Inner ear infections can linger for awhile and literally make u crawl across the floor. U might call ur dr and let him know ur not tolerating the meclizine very well and see if they might prescribe a scopolamine patch. This is for motion sickness, altitudes, etc. helps with dizziness and nausea just tiny fits behind ur ear. Won't make u tired. Might be worth a try. Goodluck!!!!

  13. I'm lucky in the fact our whole family goes to the gym together at nite. Since getting banded my family is on "the plan" too and we are all committed to getting healthy. We do our own thing once we get to gym but find if we all go together its part of our nightly routine and we hold each other accountable .
