I did not have to change anything. Been on celexa for several years and its a very small pill. My dr. Did not have any different instructions for that med. continued to take . I'm actually a psych nurse so I'm very familiar with these type meds. So if u have any specific med question I can try and help. I know some of our patients who have had bariatric surgery switch to a "capsule " immediate release med so they can open capsule and sprinkle on applesauce or whatever. Just depends on the medication .

Wow!!!!! Beautiful!!!!motivates us all. Thanks for sharing . -
I usually stay at 700-900 calories a day . That's really all I can. Very satisfied with that . Typical breakfast scrambled egg with Lil low fat cheese and a few bacon bits or whole wheat English muffin (1/2) with low fat peanut butter. Lunch cottage cheese, pickles and few reduced fat wheat thins , supper tilapia , green beans maybe a little whole wheat pasta . Snack sf Popsicle and string cheese..

"This to shall pass". I was on liquids only for 4 straight weeks and that last few days I barely could gag broth down!! But then u get to scrambled eggs and cottage cheese stage and I mean they NEVER tasted soooooo good.

Surgery in 2 days... nervous :/
Lori45 replied to girlgetsLB's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had the exact fear!!! Was banded may 29th and did fine. Just think how many of these are performed everyday with wonderful outcomes ! The percentage of something happening is very low. But I tried to look at the big picture of continuing as I was with all my health problems and possibly having a stroke or heart attack etc. that made the decision to have surgery and fear of going under all worth it!!!! Everything in life has risks but just think u are making the decision to get healthier so u can be around longer and enjoy ur family !!!! Goodluck -
I had a little higher BMI at 39-40 but my dr said that is really a "sweet spot" to be at and have a successful outcome because you usually don't have alot of excess skin after losing . That's what I'm hoping for anyways!!!!

For me started in October 2012 with preop testing ( EGD , upper gi, psych eval, lab, mammo, letters from primary and rheumatologist, seminar, echo, EKG and precert to insurance) surgery finally was may 29 2013. It was so worth the wait and insurance headaches. I have lost 36 pounds and only 6 1/2 weeks postop ! Was back to work in a week and exercising in 2 weeks. Goodluck to u!!!!

As long as u shower with antibacterial soap and pat them dry ( make sure to always keep incisions clean and dry) u should be able to keep them open to air, this will also be good for healing. Just be aware if they get red, warm to touch, or have drainage and or fever starting call ur dr ASAP . Hope that helps Lori RN

Daily Calories... I dont understand
Lori45 replied to SolracSpree's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 6 weeks post op. consume around 600-900 calories a day and the upper end of that is stretching it for me. Have not had a fill yet. Eat 60-80 grams protein day . Make sure to get protein in first then might have a little healthy carb with my fruits/veggies. But I too watch my carb intake and find it keeps me content and not hungry (along with band of course). I'm averaging 4.5 pound loss a week. Works for me. Thank goodness we are all different!!!! What works for one may not work for another. -

I did well during pre op diet just having EAS shakes or Atkins (already ready u just drink them) , chicken broth ( from Campbell's soup) fruit Popsicles , sugar free jello. Just rotated from sweet to salty. U will be fine 1/2 a chicken breat won't effect ur liver. First thing my surgeon and husband told me in recovery was that my liver was one of the biggest he had ever seen!!! Bringing people in OR to look at. ( told him I was so glad I could be so much entertainment lol). And my surgery went fine and he went thru with it having to hold it out of way. And I didn't cheat once in my preop, u will be fine. My liver may have been due to being on methotrexate (chemo drug) for R/A.but he said I definatly need to lose 100 pounds to get liver down. Hope that helps. Lori -
