  3. Me too! (but I bought the paperback via Amazon) My surgery is July 17th and I start pre-op diet today (07/08).

Dr. Reilly with True Results Houston?

Thanks for the feedback. I'm starting pre-op diet tomorrow and surgery is on the 17th. I'm nervous but realize that I'm more nervous about it "not working" than having the surgery. I'm ready for that if that is what needs to happen to get me back to thin, but I have been struggling for 20 years (post my diagnosis with having PCOS) that it just makes me nervous. I know that is no way to think... but its the truth. I have my pre-Op appointment with Dr. Hollis on Wednesday. Very interested in this meeting!

    PCOS

Thanks everyone for the feedback. PCOS really stinks - makes losing weight similar to a pushing a ball up a hill - so I'm hoping that this WLS will do the trick as it seems to have with so many others. I'm ready!
  6. That's great progress and so glad to hear you don't have to use pain meds and/or aren't miserable. Thanks for the insight! Continued success and comfort on your progress.
  7. Hello! I'm new here tonight. I scheduled my LapBand for 07.15. I'm nervous but ready for this to happen and to have a new start. I'm using Dr. Scarborough (Medical Center) - he's the only one I consulted with (recommended by my friend) but I'm hearing so many good things about TrueResults here... wondering if I should check out TrueResults first? I'm self pay ($11,100). Any tips? Any Houston LapBanders? Any July surgeries?
  8. Hello everyone: This has been such an informative group. My surgery is scheduled for mid-July and I am reading a lot of recommendations on various posts about what helped post-surgery --- I was hoping for a concise list of items (i.e., heating pad, body pillow, liquid Tylenol, liquid Gas-X, sugar-free popsicles, etc). Anyone care to share what helped them the most post-surgery? Thank you in advance!

List of post-op items you recommend to get before surgery???

Thanks Sol: thanks for the advice. Six days out? How are you feeling? Are you in a lot of pain? Hunger pangs - I though the LB got rid of those?

Dr. Reilly with True Results Houston?

ReddFoxx: I just selected Dr. Hollis and my WLS is scheduled for July 17th. What was your experience like with him? What are you incisions like (large, clean, etc) - I picked him because he has 25+ years experience and also I hoped that after that many years his expertise is great and his scars are minimal. Thanks!

    PCOS

Thank you both for sharing your stories with PCOS and your successes. I just read in a book where the WLS can reverse PCOS - which is so good to hear in that it has seemed like an uphill battle and "which came first" the PCOS or the weight. Clearly the weight but then I think it just became a vicious cycle. I'm hoping to lose 45-50 pounds and keep it off.... forever. It has robbed me of the last 20 years and I'm not about to let it rob me of any more. My surgery is scheduled for the 17th. I've proven to myself that I can do routine exercise (was even doing Crossfit five times per week) and eat well (Paleo lifestyle and cut "bad" carbs) - I just need this boost to get some results.

1 year bandiversary, 110 pounds gone!

    What is "plication"?
  13. I made an appointment with True Results on Friday and though I was REALLY WARY of going there (mainly because the commercials are so cheesy!), I am actually going to go with Dr. Hollis. It was between Dr. Hollis and Dr. Reilly (and both had great reviews on here from other people in other posts) but I chose Dr. Hollis just because he has 25+ years surgical experience among a bunch of other memberships/accolades. I was actually pleasantly surprised by True Results - they were all very nice, did a much more thorough exam of me that first appointment (EKG, physical, full medical history, blood work, breath test, etc) and I met with several people from my Patient Advocate (who had it done by Hollis 4 years ago) and a Nutritionist (who had it done 6 years ago) during my appointment and I just felt comfortable with the process. I had to move my scheduled surgery with Scarborough from July 15th to Hollis on July 17th - which wasn't bad at all. I just didn't want to move it too far back as I was already mentally prepared to have it done that week. Also, even though I'm self-pay they are going to check my insurance just to see if anything can be covered by them - which would be a nice treat. Not only were they more attentive and thorough at TR than Scarborough - its also a little less expensive ($9,888 vs $11,100 - which doesn't matter, I wouldn't make a surgical decision based on that small difference) but TR includes in their cost 12 monthly visits/fills whereas Scarborough only includes the first 90 days and that is just a "visit" not necessarily a "visit + a fill". TR just appeared to be more thorough and had better personal care than Scarborough. Thanks to this forum for giving me good tools to make me investigate/check out other doctors. I think I made the right choice. Now July 17th can't get here soon enough!

How soon after band can i start training?

I'd like to start Crossfit again as soon as possible. Its pretty brutal though - so I'm guessing it will be at LEAST 6 weeks post-op before I can return to CF class?
  15. Hello! I'm new here (tonight) and my surgery is July 15. I start the pre-op shakes-only on July 7. (Returning from vacation on the 6th and doctor said I only needed 1 week pre-op shakes because of my size?) Glad to find this forum and to read about other's experience (and successes) and to see other July dates on here.
