  1. don't worry I agree with Brad, very common! I am 2 weeks 2 days post surgery. I have begun to add small solids to my diet, but I have to chew them till mushy. With that being said, I am seeing that because I take so long to chew, it takes longer to eat, thus makes me not hungry fast! It is still very early for both you and I, don't be afraid to ask questions, everyone on here is very nice and lots of advice to offer. I have had a few outing with friends and at friends houses, and what I do to keep me from eating is I get up and walk around, I drink lots of Water, and engage in conversation. Changing your diet is one thing, but changing how you do things will also make a huge difference. I haven't lost any weight for days now, but I am loosing inches. It will be about the same until you get your fills and find out where your restriction level is. Keep up the good work and hang in there:)

  2. My surgery center required my husband to stay just in case of any complications. Given that we were about 1 1/2 hours from the center, it was kind of mutual anyways. I checked in at 8am and was out by 1pm I think, could have been earlier. As far as when you get home HAVE SOMEONE THERE WITH YOU! I honestly thought I would just sleep, but the pain got bad and I actually needed the initial help for the first 24 hours especially with my dogs. My husband had the day off which was great, but he was going to take it off regardless.

  3. I was 204 before surgery on 05/01/2013 for my consultation, which was not my highest of 212 a few months before that. Day of surgery 06/13/2013 I was 194, and today currently teetering between 188 and 189 depending on night or morning, but have lost more inches than pounds. I am 5'2, oddly enough I didn't get a goal weight from the doctor yet? However I am goaling towards 135, but I am sure from others who are roughly about my height, that will be lower for the doctors goal for me.

  4. Thanks everyone! I just found it so weird. I checked the claim status and it is a rather large amount and shows as processing with services being covered so I am awaiting for the billing department to call me back with any answer. They billed it twice because I was seen on Monday for the endoscopy which was approved by my insurance and then again on Thursday fro the surgery (I had a hernia repair along the lap band) and given the amount, it has to be for both as it was more than my severely broken ankle surgery from February.

  5. I agree here. I felt the same way the first couple of days, not as much, but I was like what did I do to myself, HOWEVER, I am 2 weeks post today and I feel great!!!! The pain subsided, I got the hunger under control by following the book I was given The Lap Band Solution by Paul O'Brien. I followed the first and second week liquid/food transition and I was worried, but it all worked out just perfectly. I realized last night that I am smaller, I am no longer a night snacker, Coca Cola means nothing anymore, and I am below my calorie intake, but only because my body has adjusted and I am not hungry as often. PLEASE hang in there, you will be so happy with the results!

  6. I was denied through my insurance for the surgery, not sure why, but I ended up going ahead as a self pay as I could afford the payments with adjustments. I just received a claim paper from my insurance that they were billed for the surgery and it is being processed???? Anyone else have this problem? I am so confused. If the insurance covered it than why am I self-pay? I contacted the billing department and she is going to call and find out what is going on.

  7. Thanks for the encouraging words. I am trying to keep my spirits up about it, it's just very hard. I just got to the 100 lb lost mark now down 30 . Your totally right though I just gotta get my fill and get back to work on losing again!! I know I can do it I have this amazing tool to help me. Thanks again

Keys words Joleng "I gained nearly 30 lbs & I just got to the 100 lb lost mark"!!! Now that is progress girl! You lost 100 lbs my friend, that is the statement to focus on. I know 30 lbs may seem like a lot to gain back, but that means you are still down 70 lbs! Don't beat yourself up, Celebrate the progress that you made and the fact that you know that you need to fix it and you are doing that and that is the part that matters:)

  8. I have stayed steady at 188 since about a week, not upset about it at all because I am only 2 weeks post surgery and no fill yet. However, my clothes are looser and the husband says that I am looking thinner, not by much he says he see it. So my questions is, is it possible to loose inches versus pounds? I never ponded that thought before? Thanks to anyone who can answer this!

  9. I agree everyone is different. I too work from home and leave for about 2 hours a day to go to the courts, my home job is basically a desk job, but honestly I had my surgery on a Thursday and wasn't up to actually working till about the following Wednesday because of the gas. It all depends really on your body, if it tells you that you are not feeling well than listen to it:)

  10. My doc had a very conservative feeding plan to transition from liquids to solids. I remember introducing both mushies and solids a week prior to when I was supposed to. I never had any signs of reflux, regurg or the band being excessively tight when I made the decision to transition earlier. I had no complications and when I learned of others plans I realized my docs plan was indeed (too) conservative. I never cheated on food choices or portion sizes, just the start dates to transition foods.

I completely agree with you! I do what my body says I can do. I didn't begin eating steak, I am still only eating mushier foods, but I chew everything completely and watch my portions and keep any eye on the calories through My Fitness Pal.

  11. I transitioned earlier to more mushier foods, but not bad foods. I chose to do so because the hunger was overwhelming and I was not feeling well not having a sustenance. I am feeling great now, eating good foods, using My Fitness Pal with a lot of my fellow band buddy's. By the time I get my first fill, I will be well prepared for the foods is the way I look at it:)

  12. Hello my fellow banders! I was curious to know if it is normal to be stuck at a weight loss, mine is currently 16 lbs. and hasn't budged for days now. I haven't had my first fill and won't have my first appointment till 07/24/2013. I just want to make sure that this is normal is all. I am currently 1 week and 4 days post op. I am not expecting much weight loss until after the fill, but just curious?

  13. Thank you all for the compliments! It was hard, but yes I feel so good that I was able to just say no thanks! The only other thing that is bothering me is that I am stuck at the same weight loss of 16lbs. Given that I haven't had a fill, is this normal or should I being doing something? I began exercising yesterday, mostly swimming because I am still recovering from a severe ankle break from February.
