  1. Hi had surgery June 15th and had 1st fill 1.5cc mid July. I have lost about 19lbs since start I do fine it very slow as I didn't lose for 3 of these weeks but didn't gain I suppose I shouldn't complain because it is suppose to be slow also if it wasn't for the band I would still have that 19lbs on my ass.... I still get a lot of head hunger and find I can have a little of the nice things without feeling to much guilt. I have upped my excercise and try to do 5k walk 3 times a week I feel much fitter and more healthy as I can't eat bread ( best news ever) it won't stay down no matter how much I try. Also I started to lose weight again when my husband hid my scales and I only get them now on a sat morn I was becoming obsessed and when I didn't lose I comfort ate which is my problem.

  2. Hi all have been doing well but in the last few days I have found the hunger pains returned reading on hear that is to be expected. Only keep healthy foods in house so should be ok. Also my husband has hid my scales as I was getting a little obvessive lol he brings them out on a sat morning haha I have scoured the house daily for them but he is right. I have 16 pounds off so pleased so far. Another 70 to go.

  3. I am having my surgery next week. I live in Canada. Let keep in touch and see how it goes!

Hi all the best to you on this exciting journey. My husband and I are going to Canada on the 1st of sept as a delayed honeymoon. We got married last year and due to other issues we had to delay honeymoon till this year. My 1st goal is to have 2 stone off before Canada .

  4. WOW!! Thanks everyone for all the reassuring words. This makes me feel a lot better. Like I said' date=' I have cheated but it was with good choices, like a salad with no meat whatsoever, and fat free low calorie dressing. I am so glad I found this forum, it means the world to be able to go through this with people that have been there and know what you are going through. My surgery is Friday the 21st and am so excited to get this done. Please keep me in you rprayers.[/quote']

Best of luck for fri had my surgery sat 15th at day 4 post op still a little sore but well worth it I am 2 lbs from my 1st stone off. ( Includes pre op diet time) This is enough to keep me motivated my pre op diet contained no shakes all healthy foods so don't panic about one slip up. Keep up the good work also I worried about the anaesthetic also but a walk in the park.

  5. I had my surgery on Friday and although its not constant' date=' I do get this tight feeling in my chest every so often. I'm pretty sure my band is wide open and I'm on liquids, but could I be doing something wrong (drinking too fast or too much) or do you just think that is common post op soreness or just swollen insides?[/quote']

Yes I think it is still to do with post op swelling and trapped gas I don't have a sore shoulders but I do get pain between the shoulder blades on my back went for a few short walks yesterday which seemed to help going to try a longer walk today. I think drinking a lot is important to keep hydrated .

  6. Hey tracie' date=' so how did it go... My surgery was on the 13th as well... All went well, nurses, doctor and staff were so supportive , professional and kind. In the us , I was not eligible for insurance so I pay privately as well. I started my first visit in mid may... And a month later I had my surgery.. Even if I was eligible with my insurance I would have had to wait 6 months to be approved... Anyway hope All is well , Ron[/quote']

    Hi Ron

I also had my First visit mid may and done a month later. How are you feeling since the surgery. I got home yesterday and I feel like I have been hit by a bus very sore around the chest area and I would have a very high pain threshold so a little worried that I can't take deep breaths easily. Other than that I am not hungry and I hope that feeling lasts forever.

  7. Tracie' date='

I've been to Ireland 18 times. I have family all over Galway (well my late husband's family anyway).

How do they handle the Lapland in Ireland? I know they have socialized medicine but I know there is private pay as well.[/quote']

    Hi dawalsh

I live near Galway a beautiful part of the country. There was a few ways to get the lap band done here the public system which would be free has a waiting list if about 5 years. ( in which you could have a lot more problems before surgery date comes around) 2nd the people who are insured can also get it done in private hospitals if they meet certain criteria. Then there is the private clinic in which you pay yourself this is what I did at a cost of 7500 which includes a full year of refills and check ups.

  8. I paid for it privately as a public patient you could be on a 5 year waiting list or if you are insured ( I am not) you can have it done under some policies I think you have to meet some criteria. It cost 7500 privately and this includes one year of follow up fills and check ups. I have a 10cc band with my first ck in 1month. I live near Galway it is a beautiful part of the country.

  9. Hi

Is it the insurance company that make you wait 6month and jump through a load of hoops that is madness if you are ready and know what you want and need why are they making you wait. I am in Ireland decided 6 weeks ago I was ready for this had my op yesterday. Mind you I don't have insurance and paid for it myself but I hope it will be worth every penny. I have about 5-6 stone to lose here we go at the beginning.
