  1. I am 6:30am in thurs too!

Meanwhile my husband just committed the ultimate atrocity. He brought McDonalds home and then fell asleep so there was a quarter pounder in my living room. There was 4 seconds when I thought "I'm just gonna have it" but insist give in. And I didn't want it sitting somewhere teasing me, and since I'm so mad he brought it home I gave it to the dog. Serves him right.

That is hilarious!!! Bad Dad Dog treats!!! You know I feel your pain I had to go to Miami three days before my surgery for business! There was so much activity at the hotel because of the Championship Win, food and drinks were in abundance and I wanted to CRY!!! So instead I retreated to the room and mixed my Protein drink with water!! I was very bummed!!! LOL

  2. I couldn't agree with you more Royalrags ~ It was hell going through those two weeks, but now that I am 3 weeks post op I see why the surgeon requires it. My mental attachment to food is gone, I look at it in an all different way. This week I started on soft phase of food and boy am I enjoying it, but it doesn't take much to fill me up and give that feeling of satisfaction. How are you doing so far post-op?

Kim I hit my two week post OP today This surgery has been super easy I almost have to check if I got it done but my port is definitely there so I know I did!!! LOL... Today starts the Mushy/Pureed foods I love refried Beans and mashed Potatoes so I think I should be able to survive for the next two weeks adding yogurt etc.. to the mix! I am extremely excited about all the new changes to come! I get my first fill on the 17th what about you?

  3. Mashed potatoes, refried Beans, cottage cheese, apple sauce, and mushy lasagna. Mushy lasagna has no Pasta. It is ricotta cheese, spaghetti sauce, garlic powder, and mozzarella cheese microwaved. VERY TASTY!

This was actually very helpful for me I started pureed stage today and I still have not eaten because I am a little afraid to eat the WRONG thing!! so off to the store I go to buy can refried beans! and ff mozzarella

  4. Agreed ladies. I was banded a week ago tomorrow. I have to drink slowly too. Try and befriend me and we can support each other. If you think or find any good recipes for the puréed and soft foods week' date=' let me know. Thanks.[/quote']

I'm one week out of surgery yesterday I am so over the liquids and Soups and yogurt not that I need more food I need more of a variety!!! Bring on the mushy stage!!

  5. Day 6 post op- today my husband had to go back to work.. I left with 3 kids.. 2 under the age of three. I wasnt ready and i knew i wouldnt be.. i have the shakes and im physically so tired the time cant move fast enough for him to be home. felt good moving more but i feel as over did it and hurt and shake all over.. im upset that no one listened to me as i wasnt ready to be alone.. :( is it bed time yet..

I hate that you are not getting along better!!! I am not sure why everyone has a different outcome after surgery, I have been out and about every day the more I go the more energy I get, However if you are feeling Crappy see if you can get a sitter/ Nanny for the next week or so to help out while you are recuperating! Care.com is a good site to check for Nanny care I hope you feel better and you can always vent to me if all else fails!!!

  6. Good luck - you will get through it. Pre-op is very difficult but so worth it, believe me! My pre-op was two weeks long and I saw so many changes in myself I can see why the surgeon required it.

I just got surgery on Tuesday and my pre op made a huge difference in how I am handling my post op eating!! I am happy I had those two (some days excruciating ) weeks of Liquid Protein Only... Focus and mind over matter I have to say got me through every day trying to focus on the big Skinny Picture!

  7. I use to love McDonalds Sweet Tea As a matter of fact I had one at Urgent Care in February when I was diagnosed with Diabetes and Blood sugar level of 594 and spent Two weeks in Stroke Unit at Hospital........ I have not touched another Cup since! I do still love ice tea and Bought a big jar to make sun tea and mix with splenda and it tastes just as wonderful!!! Also before I got banded I found a great bunch of sugar free cookie recipes in the diabetes cookbooks you can make some and freeze some!!! The point is you have options!! I am no expert I am new to diabetes and being banded but I do know there are options out there and I think you can and WILL succeed!!! You have the band now let it help you help YOU!!! Good Luck

  8. Doesn't sound like a stuck episode.

Don't be afraid to try all "carbs" or other foods (meats, etc.) .... don't go into this journey...saying "I'll never be able to eat this or that ever again." I can eat ANYTHING except rice or apple skins.

For me rice and apple skins don't get stuck they just feel strange going down I don't eat them. If you do have an "episode" with a particular food don't be afraid to try it again at another time in a few days or weeks.

Remember... you have the band for life... you should be able to eat a well balanced diet from all the food groups and ENJOY your food.

Don't forget to make sure if you finish what you have in your mouth before you take your second or third bite.

I couldn't go through life without my Pasta, steak, roast beeft... or a sandwich now and then :)

TX...if you have any questions or would like to chat on the phone I have free long distance and would be happy to call you.

That is super sweet of you to do that for him!!! Pay it forward!!! Kindness Counts for something in this world!!

  9. When you eat untoasted bread or something your body can't handle. Only been on solids a few days and found myself nervously eating at a funeral service yesterday. I ended up eating some regular sandwich bread and about a third of a tortilla wrap. To this point I've only eaten toasted 45 calorie wheat bread.

Had no problem getting it down. Honestly if it weren't for the incisions across my chest I'd start to wonder if I really had anything done. But late last night (and all day so far today) I have a pain across my lower left side and into my mid abdomen. I'm extremely nauseous and having diarrhea. It hurts to even bend over. It reminds me of he first day after the surgery.

Any clues? Did I get the bread down and now it's just siting there? Any thoughts or advice would be appreciated. My surgeons office is closed the entire week for the holiday. If the pain and issues persist I say you go to ER!!! Do not think twice about it JUST GO!! There is no such thing as a minor issue it is better to be safe and overreactive than SORRY!!!

    Thanks.

  10. I bought Unjury unflavored Protein because I could stomach another Protein Shake. Dreaded the thought of it. Well $50 for the stuff and it's the exact texture, color of my vanilla protein I had. I have tried adding it to the stuff they say ( yogurt, your fav beverage, Soup blah blah.. It's nasty. Period. Don't waste your money. Can't mix It with anything cuz the scoop is such a huge amt that you have to mix in a freaking 1/4 or 1/2 cup of something, it just does not work!

I think it may be a per person acquired taste thing because I have only used Unjury in all flavors for my pre-op and now my post op (okay the chicken soup BLAHHHH) But I like the way they taste and mix in my milk Water coffee and yogurt I ran out of unflavored and had to go get some from GNC which is there version it actually isn't bad either!

  11. Hi everyone. 4 days post op and not feeling to well. How is everyone else doing?

I had surgery Tuesday 25th and honestly I have yet to have anything going on! I am very comfortable the pain is almost non existent, I feel pull when I laugh cough or sneeze but that's more like when you do a bunch of sit ups type feeling! I started drinking Proteins and yogurt and pudding yesterday so far so good!

  12. I am 3 I am 3 days Post Op (banded on Tuesday) my original process was going to be overnight however I checked in Pre op at 11:00 Rolled into surgery at 11:45 surgery was complete by 1:30 and I was leaving hospital by 4:00, I actually drove myself to hospital and had to have my bestfriend take me back next day to pick up my car, I do not think I am a typical case but if your surgery goes well you may not want them to leave because they may need to ask a question etc... I hope all goes well and Congrats I could not be more excited about my future outcome!!!

  13. GOOD NEWS! Tricare approved my surgery.....on my pre-op diet.....surgery is a go for 8 July! Hope my experience is as easy as RoyalRags....! Lisa

Yaaaaay Lisa that's great!!!!! Congrats! It should be a piece of cake!!! I'm still feeling fabulous! When they give you the pain meds or any meds you need to crush them up to take them! Otherwise you feel them also your throat will be a little sore from the breathing tube sugar free iPopsicles are perfect for that I'm taking tums and Pepcid although I have no symptoms but it keeps them away so it doesn't hurt!!!

I have been going all day and now I'm resting with a heating pad to ease swelling and gas!!!

  14. Actually be glad your doing that... I know sounds weird but I've had colon cancer and had colorectal surgery. A couple of years later I needed a complete hysterectomy due to a genetic reason (I should be as famous as Angelina Jolie, lol) my doc made me do the cleanse which totally pissed me off but I swear my recovery was SO MUCH easier than this surgery and I swear it was because I was so bloated from all the gas and then constipated from two weeks of Protein Shakes with little to no fiber! Hope all goes well today for you! It will be so worth it in the end!

I'm ALL DONE GUYS!!!! This is how my day went...... I arrived and checked in at 11:00 immediately got started and was originally scheduled to stay overnight HOWEVER...... I went into surgery at 11:45 in Recovery by 1:30 and released by 4:30!!!!! I am sitting here typing feeling like a million bucks I came through surgery with flying colors and they found no need to monitor me overnight...... I am so blessed!!! Lets see what The morning brings.... and I say bring it On!!!

  16. I had lap band surgery 2 yrs ago. Currently, I weigh about 10lbs less than I did before I had the surgery. I never had any restriction. If my band had been made any tighter, eventually I would have damaged my esophagus. I went back to my doctor, and she says I can do a revision to bypass surgery. I took the nutrition classes, but have not yet gone to the doctors for my clearances. I had no fear when I had the lap band surgery done, it just didn't work. I am so unhappy that I am not losing weight. Should I go ahead with the revision surgery, or just be sad for a lifetime?

this is very interesting what does your doctor think? can you try eating different?

  17. Excited for you....good luck tomorrow...and keep us posted when you can! Lisa

Thanks Lisa!!! I am excited and nervous however I have no time to focus on it because I had to take this Colonoscopy Cleanse drink that has had me in the Bathroom since 3:00 this afternoon!!! My Doctor is serious about making sure that the stomach and bowels and colon are EMPTY!!!! I have to arrive at hospital at 11 and no eating after midnight!!! I think that I am being tortured into losing weight this is bananas!!! :P
