  1. I have found that the best shake that is highest in Protein and very inexpensive to make is EAS Protein Shake Has 26 grams per scoop of protein and less then 3 carbs Is available from BJ'S wholesale at cost $25.00 for about 75 shakes I like it made with Water but my wife likes it made with skim Milk. If you do the math it works out to about 33 cents per shake and that is really cheap and the product is tasty. I would highly recommend it . The product is also Available at most Vitamin stores like GNC and Vitamin World but I have found the price to be much higher there.

I have only been banded since may 14 and have lost about 26 pounds so far. I know alot of the weight was Water weight but also watching what I eat. My Dr would be very upset if I was eating Mashed Potato's or for the matter any high carb veggie. He wants low carb only veggies and prefers as close to Zero carbs as possible until you get to goal weight. Also be careful with BBQ Sauce. there are alot of hidden sugars and carbs in most bbq sauces. I am diabetic and since my procedure I have been able to control my blood sugars to under 100 for the first time in 5 years.

  3. Hi Sunsett

Sounds like you have had you share of problems with the 2 leaks you mention on your post. Is there anything that you or your Dr believe is the cause of these issues ? I am trying to walk 21/2 miles per day but the problem is that w/o the Aleve I cant hardly move the next day after the walks. I guess I should try and reduce the amount of the walk and see if that helps with the pain. I have a Dr that doesnt believe in Pain med hardly at all and when I told him and showed him the swelling in my knees he said take 2 Tylenol that should help ...But it doesnt help at all. I do believe the exercise part is very important and I want to be successful but I gotta find a solution to the knee swelling. I am going to have a replacement after I loose 100 pounds so hopefully that will make it easer to walk.

  4. M advise is be sure to take small sips w/o a straw and small amounts of food when you are able to take in food. I didn't realize how small... small was until i kept complaining of pain and my Dr kept telling me I was taken to large of sips . Also I find that drinking the foam or not waiting until the foams settles gives me alot of gas. I am not talking about the pressure in the chest gas but rather intestinal gas. I advise that you let the foam settle before drinking Protein Shakes i Have not in able to bulge since the procedure ..Is that normal ?

  5. No I haven't weighed since the procedure on the 14th. I go tomorrow for first follow up visit. I feel like I have shed quite a few pounds based on the way my clothes feel. I will be very disappointed if I haven't lost at least 15 more pounds. I need to have watch and jewerly resized because they fall off since I started the diet. I figure alot of that first weight loss was Water weight now for the real stuff! i have gone from probably 3000 calories to less the 900 per day so if that doesn't work nothing will .

  6. My Dr requires 3 days after surgery total clear liquid diet. Day 3 until day 22 total liquid with the exception of 4 oz or pureed fruit and some yogurt. Day 23 until day 60 soft puree diet. Does this program appear to be consistent with what others are doing? I am having a difficult time with the liquid diet and find that I am actually very irritable and not real pleasant to be around right now. I know there are some major life style changes to go through and I am trying my best. Why do they require such restrictions for so long ?

  7. I have been trying not to take the pain meds. I thought they were for pain associated with the surgery. Like incision pain and bruising from the procedure. I didn't think they would actually make swallowing any better. I have taken them only at night because I find it hard to sleep w/o them. I try to be active during the day and haven't used them in the daytime

  8. Well I must admit that considering everything I am felling pretty good. I was out and about and walking around local BJs wholesale less then 24 hours after procedure and went out again today for about one hour. Still painful to swallow anything much more then a 1/2 teaspoon full of liquid but I do think that the pain is less today then yesterday and as long as that continues I will be happy.

How long after a procedure should I expect bowels to begin working again. Been 3 days since surgery and 15 since beginning liquid diet and not moving since surgery? Just don't want to get bound up !!!

Dr wants mer to drink at least 100 oz Fluid per day ..that isn't going to happen at 1/2 teaspoon intervals

  9. i WAS BAND YESTERDAY AND CAME HOME AND ALL WAS FINE. sLEPT GOOD GOT UP A FEW TIMES AND AWOKE THIS MORNING AND TRYED TO TAKE A SIP OFD Water AND WAS AMAZED AT HOW MUCH IT HURT GOING DOWN. i READ THAT WARM FLUIDS MAY GO DOWN BETTER. I TRYED TO TAKE MY DEBETIC MEDS BY CUTTING pills INTO 1/8THS BUT THAT DIDNT SEEMS TO WORK EITHER. EVERYTIME I TRY AND TAKE A PIUECE OF THEM FEELS LIKE SOMEONE HITS ME IN THE GUT WITH A SLEDGE HAMMER ..IS THIS NORMAL?
