What are your staples?
Where do you find the greek yogurt popsicles and is the curry chicken from costco premade in the cold food section? I have never seen it, I'll have to look for it.

RECOMMENDED MUST HAVES?
Haven't had my surgery yet but I'm gathering things also. I have an electric mug warmer since many people have said it can take an hour to eat a bowl of soup in the beginning. I also purchased small silver forks and spoons from bed bath and beyond rather than plastic baby ones. A digital scale as others have said and the magic bullet works really well

Chicken or fish Lite Mayo or regular mayo
I have not been sleeved yet but I already plan on using full fat fats such as mayo, butter, sour cream. I figure if I'm only eating 2 ounces of protein with a tsp. of mayo or other fat it should be ok. We will see though. I'm going to be living off protei fruits and veggies a little flavor would be nice.

fascinated by changing taste buds!
I haven't had my surgery yet but I read over and over in posts that people don't like foods they once liked before having surgery. Is there some scientific reason for this or what? It's really a strange phenomena. Not just things that are no longer good for you like sweets but all kinds of foods.

single incision anyone?
I was reading the advertisement on the forum about a single incision gastric sleeve procedure, has anyone had this or is it too new? That would be great and will probably be the norm in the future for VSG.

Pills
Are you just talking about vitamins and supplements? I was told I would need to take them the rest of my life.

So im curious....
From what my surgeon told me I don't think I will ever eat a six inch sub again. From what I understand my stomach will be able to eventually hold a cup of food ( a few months after surgery) but she said it will probably be less.

I have this exact same insurance, only my husband works for boeing. I called the number on my insurance card and asked where I could view the insurance policy for bariactric surgery online so that I could see the exact requirements. If you have a bmi under 40 but at least 35 you need 2 comorbidities, the ones they accept are: high blood pressure, disilipedemia ( high cholesterol), diabetes, osteoarthritis, sleep apnea or coronary heart disease. I have a bmi of 35 and have had high BP for 15 years and had a sleep study recently where they diagnosed me with moderate sleep apnea. They require you to see a nutritionist and get a psych evaluation and if you have your surgery done at a blue distinction center of excellence will pay at 100%. This is all they require and your surgeon's office should set up all these appointments for you. I don't know what a hba1c blood test is. Now this is for my husbands employers insurance. Other bsbs policies may be different.- To tell people or not to tell people: please answer
If a person takes off work and then returns and starts drastically losing weight I think most people will figure it out on their own. Of course it's always up to you to tell or not.- Eating slow
Living in the moment is so hard with everything we do in life, it just takes practice. One of my favorite books is The Power of Now by Echardt Tolle, it's all about how to live life in the moment. I think this will be one of the hardest parts for me. We need to savor what little food we do get!- 5 mo questions
Thanks for the great information!- 5 mo questions
You look great! 50 pounds is a lot in four months. Keep up the good work!- How many nights at the hospital for you?
My surgeon said one but I kind of want to stay two just to feel more confident. One doesn't seem long enough to me for having 85% of an organ removed! I don't know if it's an insurance thing or what or if I could stay if I wanted.- Can't stomach anything without nausea, HELP!
I haven't had surgery yet but I did read a couple of posts that said thinned out cream of wheat helped them when they couldn't eat anything else, I know i'ts not great protein wise but maybe it's something you could get down- Hello everyone!
Hi, my name is Lynn and I'm a new member. I started this process about a month ago and things are moving fast. I am probably looking at an August surgery date. Paperwork will be turned into insurance next week. I see that there are several of us from Washington who have joined recently. I am so glad to have found this site, it is such a wealth of information, I'm pretty much addicted. I want all the information I can get before I do this. My doctor is Dr. Chock from Northwest weight loss surgery, curious if anyone else went there or is going there. Just wanted to introduce myself and thought we could give each other some support while going through this journey!- Home from surgery
Wow, you've been through a lot. I'm glad everything has been fixed correctly so you can be successful.- Ugh! Approved waiting on date!
I feel your pain. I still have 4 more appointments to go before they will schedule mine but they are all in the next eight days so I don't have too long to wait but I agree it's torture! I have major insomnia and I'm sure it's because I can't stop thinking about this. My surgeon is hoping to have me scheduled in August but she said the hospital we are going to is really booked so I am soo anxious to get it scheduled. I'm off till September and don't want to have to take off time from work just when I'm supposed to be going back.- hair pieces for hair loss that look natural?
This is great information, thank you so much. So many of the wigs and hair pieces are so thick and just don't look natural. Now I need to find some wig shops in my area and start looking. I don't mind spending a little for something I will probably wear daily, at least to work. How was your hair loss? I hear it usually lasts for a couple of months then stops but it is going to be the worst thing about this whole thing for me. I wish I had hair to spare but I don't.- IPhone app for tracking diet, exercise, wt. loss, pain, mood
I'm not sure about pain and mood but "my fitness pal" is an awesome app for tracking food and weight and exercise, It seems to have almost any food you can think of already in its system. I definitely plan on using it after my surgery. I'ts also free!- Good tasting chewable multivitamin?
Where do you find the sublingual B12? I hate needles but like you said an easy fix. How often do you get the injections? How long do they stay in your system? does your primary doctor do it? I wonder if my insurance would pay. I know, so many questions but I'm curious about this. I like gummie vitamins, I wish they could make a complete gummie, I wonder why they can't. Thanks for the info.- hair pieces for hair loss that look natural?
Thank you, what is ulta? A store?- hair pieces for hair loss that look natural?
I keep reading about hair loss and I know it will happen to me. I already lost a ton of hair once when I went on the atkins diet and lost a lot weight quickly. I have very fine and already thin hair so I am trying to prepare ahead of time for this. I am thinking of purchasing clip in crown hair pieces to help with volume but don't want them to look fake. Does anyone know of a good brand that looks somewhat natural? - No Co-Morbidities and BCBS IL PPO
