  1. ME....and looking for local support! Lisa
  2. Hey....thanks for sharing your story! I asked my surgeon and he was totally against that procedure. Not sure why, but I know he wasn't happy about it. Not sure why Tricare doesn't cover the sleeve either. Seems much easier than the full by-pass. The lateral plication with a band is basicially the sleeve with a band..! I guess I will just get the band and work it to best of it's ability! Thanks again.... Lisa
  3. I am keeping it positive too! I feel pretty confident it will be approved. Looking forward to the pr-op diet......! I am, Tricare North too carolinagirl! So ready to get this going! Have a great days! Lisa
  4. Good to lnow! How is the pre-op diet going? I find that the times I sub a meal for a shake OR drink one before a meal....I eat less cause I really feel full! Lisa
  5. Good Morning....you and I have the same surgery date! I would love to support each other through this! So excited for us! Lisa

Hey txflea..... So glad that you are doing well. I have been told to expect liquids for 2 weeks post op then the next two weeks soft/mushy foods! That seems different from your Dr. How are you getting around? What kind od exercise can you do so soon after surgery? Sorry for all the questions.....getting ready for my surgery and learning what I can through you! lol Hope you have a great day....Lisa
  7. I am in your same situation......I have done all pre-op, pre-admin, start the shakes on 25 June and a surgery date of 8 July. AND I found out yesterday that my pre approval for surgery hasn't been done yet but said it was being submitted yesterday and should by complete within 14 day! WEL....if my surgery day comes and I don't get approval...I am going to be one pissed off woman! lol. I don't understand why Tricare doesn't cover the sleeve....!! This is frustrating. Keep me posted on your situation...Lisa
  8. I am also Tricare Prime (North). I have an appt today and I am going to make sure all the preauthorization has been done. My PCM referred me to Bariatric surgery with a low"ish" BMI due to Hypertension and boaderline diabetes. It is my understanding that Tricare will only approve bypass OR the band! For the lady at Keesler.....(That is where I am from and I worked in the medical center for years)......they do bariatric surgery there. BUT....my best friend just got the sleeve at a private office on the coast. I would be happy to ask her who she used if you'd like! Lisa
  9. If you search Lap Band Plication on YouTube....you can see the actual surgery. It is not the overlapping to hold the band in place...! Much much more.....it actually kinda reduces the remaining stomach in half...creating almost a sleeve result. Curious to ask my surgeon about it. Thanks for the replies.....I appreciate it... Lisa
  10. I have an appt today with my surgeon. I didn't realize there were these two options. Not sure if my surgeon does the plication (I will ask). It seems (after watching videos) the the plications part of the procedure acts as a gastric sleeve with a band. Can someone explain this to me before I have my appt this afternoon. Is the band alone as effective as the bad with plication?? Now I am full of questions....! argg.... HELP... lol Lisa
  11. Thanks for all the great input! I appreciate you all
  12. I am having surgery on a monday and returning to work the following monday. Prepared to take a few more days if needed! So excited for us! Lisa
  13. Thank you both for the info! I do have a desk job....so I will allow myself a full week and then listen to my body! Thanks again...Lisa
  14. Ok....to all the seasoned bander on here...I have a few questions 1) My surgery is on a monday (8 Jul) and I was planning on returning to work the next monday....is that feasible? 2) One question I forgot to ask the NP at my last appt. Did you have to stay overnight or was yours done as same day? Thanks again for all the support. You guys have no idea how helpful this sight is for me! Lisa
