  1. I am currently 4.5 months post-op and I have lost 80lbs. I lost most of that weight in the first 2-3 months, and for the last several weeks I have just been STUCK! I am getting so defeated and discouraged. I don't know what I am doing wrong or what to do to jump start my weight loss again! I don't want to stop losing weight, but I don't know what i am doing wrong!? Did anyone else have this problem!? How did you get past it. This has been a serious stall that's lasted almost 2 months!

I would love to be 80 lbs down; been six months and only 42 lbs down so far !

  2. Didn't know pineapple juice was a fix.....when I'm truly stuck, I cannot drink anything, because the passage is blocked, clogged up - stuck....sipping anything, such as Water, overfills the pouch, causing it to "Run Over"...in other words it will come right back up having no where else to go..... Least that is how I always did it...... I know many people who use Papaya Enzymes....carry it with them everywhere they go.... When I worked in the ER, and people came in with stuck meat, we would mix tenderizer with warm water and have them sip that...it worked!

I have heard tenderizer works too ! Pineapple Juice is a GOD send !!!

  3. Okay deep cleansing breath, I'm including my FACE in the pic this time! Look at my husband's pics! Can you believe it? Dang man is at 70% of his excess weight lost, I'm at about 54% of mine. pics are day of sx, 8/2/2013 and today, 11/11/2013 We are all so hard on ourselves btw. I saw mine and went, "eww! tummy rolls!" My husband saw mine and said "You're looking skinny babe". He saw his and said "My stomach shows." I saw his and said "...."well, I can't tell you what I said on this site but I'm sure you can guess :-p

    YOU GUYS LOOK GREAT !

  4. I am 2.5 years out from having my lap band. I lost over 120lbs in the first year. Since about the beginning of year two I have been struggling. I had an overfill and had to have Fluid removed. Since then I've had fills and unfills. I've put back about 40lbs. I have also been struggling with acid reflux severely at night. I had an endoscopy. Tried different kind of acid reducers, not eating 4+ hours before bed and it still doesn't go away. The only time I do not experience the reflux is if my band is pretty much unfilled (less than 2cc) which means I have no restriction. Now I know some of you lose weight without the restriction but for me the only way I lost the weight was restriction (and exercise!). Now that I have none, I am thinking why have the band? I saw my surgeon this week. After listening to my concerns and reviewing my history. He is recommending I have the band out and look into having the sleeve? Anyone else thinking about the sleeve or have any feedback? I am truly confused and overwhelmed. I tend to think why have this foreign object in my body if it is not helping with my weight loss anymore and only causing me issues. Anyone else thinking about the sleeve or have any feedback? Thanks in advance!

I have heard drinking Alkaline Water with a Ph of 9+ will eliminate all excess acids ; you can even Google it as they sell Machines for this for home.

Also note Cancer cant live in an alkaline body!

  5. Tell her to stick in in her ass. Seriously. I had one friend who I knew would not be supportive as she had been vocal about WLS in the past. (Naturally skinny chick had NO RIGHT to voice her opinion, IMO.) Before telling her (and I only told her because I do love her, she is in my immediate close friend group and I had told everyone else), I let her know that I was sharing something with her that was important to me and that if she couldn't say anything supportive, I was kindly asking her to not say a damn thing at all. She complied. :D

I agree as I have shared with those who love & support Me. I have one female friend who lost 160 lbs on Bypass and is constantly telling me to switch over ! So tired of her mouth !

  6. 7. Hi everyone. I was wondering if others have this issue. Are there foods that you just CAN'T eat? For me personally' date=' I cannot eat, french fries (a good thing), hot dogs and some ground beef. If I even try, it gets stuck and my tum is irritated for the rest of the day. Just wondering if this is normal.[/quote']

Breads, Some meats & white meat chicken

  8. Hello everyone! Until I hit puberty' date=' I was as skinny as a rail. Once I did hit it though, I gained weight and kept it on. I guess i was never really "fat" even though I was called fat by classmates and the like, but I've always been bigger than I wanted to be. My mother passed away after a brief battle with cancer last year, and that sent me into a really bad funk where I gained a lot of weight. My wife and I also welcomed our first child near the end of 2012. It was certainly time for a change. I started this journey at 6'1, 349 pounds. I lost 10 pounds leading up to the surgery, and have lost another 20 since my surgery, which was at the end of June this year. I am currently at 319 pounds and heading in the right direction. I look forward to interacting with you all and sharing the experience together![/quote']

    CONGRATULATIONS & NEVER LOOK BACK

  9. I wonder what everyones views is on this. I personally tell everyone I am going for LapBand' date=' I'm a naturally lazy person so if I start losing weight drastically with no gym membership, I don't assume people are stupid.

I know a few people who have either done band or sleeve and they don't tell ANYONE about the surgery they just make people think they lost weight naturally on their own.

What does everyone think about people who lie about going for surgery? Does everyone you know, know about your surgery? What about the surgery embarasses people that they feel the need to hide it?[/quote']

I tell people the truth; don't care their opinion !

  10. Hi slkesler. I have constant pain and even with all the weight loss' date=' am still in need of not just knee replacement, but hips as well due to an auto-immune issue. The only exercise I can do is in the pool for obvious reasons. I swim, or if I can't swim, I dog paddle. I also do strengthening exercises. Not to lose weight but to get my legs stronger for the upcoming surgeries. Good luck, I so understand and feel your pain.[/quote']

I pray GOD Heals You !!!!

  11. The only thing I will take with a restricted band are gel type capsules since they slide down' date=' and chewable Vitamins, if I have to take prescription pills I will crush them or take them liquid form.

I had a pill stuck with my old band about 7 years ago and ended up in ER from work, vomited about 10 times before finally dissolved and it was a small round hard Iron pill, I made a mistake and drank a cold Protein shake after I took the pill which anything cold will further constrict the band.

Thought I was going to die, it was cutting off my breath since it was lodged in my esophagus.

That that point since...Big pills scare me with a restricted band.[/quote']

Wow, glad you are ok now !

  12. I'm aware we are NOT supposed to drink our calories' date=' but every now-and-then I still replace a meal with a Protein shake. Am I cheating myself (and the band)??[/quote']

MY Dr told Me to take in a minimum of 90 Grams of Protein each day! I USE Protein powder with my NUTRIBULLET with Veggies & fruit with The Protein Powder. I know I was previously not getting 30-40 grams a day & The Dr told me to step it up to loose weight. It has not helped at all!

  13. Thanks for the reply and link. I agree' date=' I start out riding pretty empty (coffee and half cup of oatmeal) most of the time... depending on what I'm planning on doing...group vs solo ride. I usually stick with Clif bars while riding solo. First one at about 70 minutes, then half another one every 30 to 45 minutes. If I miss that first one. ...i really feel it at 2 hours. I took that Protein I mentioned 30 minutes before a couple rides. It's not for me before riding. But. .... before running, I think I really like it. I'm only doing 5km the majority of the time, so it's boost time is great for that. 20 grams of Protein works good.... just MUST give 30 minutes.... or else tummy ache![/quote']

Catfish have you heard about the 29" & 32 " Men's Bikes Walmart is selling now ? Big Wheels indeed !!! ???´

  14. What do you do for exercise if your knees hurt? It really hurts to walk!

I go through the same pain 24-7! Hoping losing weight will help! Swimming & Biking are what I plan to pursue! Up until 2007 I was walking 5-10 miles a day then broke both legs, gained 100 lbs and been in pain since! My drs want to total replace both knees !

  15. Pinky' date='

I lost 50 lbs w/ the band before getting pregnant than getting into a MVA that put me into rehab for 8 months. I never gained the 50 back but I was at a standstill because I was not even trying to eat correctly (stress and diet don't mix well with me). In Jan 2013 when my symptoms started to resolve I felt motivated to start losing again because 190 lbs was not my ideal.

First thing I did was review the rules and get back to basics. I made a grocery list of lapband friendly foods and started focusing on minimizing calories and upping Proteins. I also came back to this site and come on here daily for support and to keep my eye on the prize, if you will.

Additionally, I started to get fills again. It had been 3 years since my last fill. Well with 50 lb loss, a pregnancy and 30 more lbs lost since Jan I got a fill in May. Just got another one few weeks ago to tweak me back to green. It has helped incredibly.

With time, my habits became second nature and less about mental will.

I am at goal and getting cosmetic surgery to finish the job in October.

It's just about recommitting, refreshing yourself on the rules, and getting support to rally you through. And get to green if you are not there![/quote']

    Great News !

  16. :) I got to feeling this way too. In fact struggled with it for about a year. Except I got a fill that was to tight and I didn't go back. I kept getting sick and I felt like you' date=' tired of it. So I ended up just eating whatever I wanted to and I gained 30lbs. I don't recommend that at all. I am just now, this week in fact getting back into it. So while I don't know the "fix" I have shared your feelings and at least you know you're not alone. Getting back to this site helped encourage me. I I I I :)[/quote']

Keep plugging & know everyone here is for you amen !!!

  17. Have you reached a point where the band is getting old to you and you are not loosing anymore weight? what have you done to start all over? act like it's new to you and exciting? because now im just tired of it and not too happy with it. Kinda bored and annoyed with it now lol I need to find motivation first! So im looking to see what you all have done :)
