Hi there! I've never done this before, so I'll introduce myself. I have been married for 31 years and have one son who is 26 years old, married, and gave me a beautiful grandson 6 months ago. I absolutely adore my grandson and LOVE being a grandma!!!! I am SOOOOO happy I had the surgery and have not regretted it for even one single moment since I had it. My only regret is that I didn't do it at least 10 years ago. My doctor here in Tulsa is great - Dr. Ladd Atkins. I love this forum and everyone on it. It has been a lifesaver during the time before and since my surgery! smile.png

  5. Can I just say a HUGE thank you to hazelsbliss, carolinagirl, cheryl2586, 2muchfun, and the other voices of reason who actually advise listening to your doctors and following their advice!!! When I first started reading this thread, I started to panic! I could not believe we were being advised to go against what all our doctors have told us regarding drinking while we eat. I just want to let you know that I appreciate all of you standing up and having the nerve to go against someone who seems to think they're the authority on all things lap-band. Please never stop doing what you're doing to help us continue to learn the truths that we need to know during our lap-band process! :)

Down to 255.6!! So excited I had such a good week! Eating solid food again too!

  7. I ordered the Body by Vi shakes before I did my pre-op liquid diet, and I wasn't impressed. I invested a bunch of money in an assortment of all the flavor packets and add-ins, and although they did taste pretty good, I couldn't tell that much of a difference, and didn't have as much Protein as the protein powders you can buy anywhere. I can send you the rest of one of my bags if you want to try it first. Not sure I'd bother getting enrolled in it though. I still haven't called and cancelled my subscription (which is another pain in the butt). You can't cancel your subscription online, you have to actually call. :(

  8. Yep, definitely sounds like vertigo! You must have done the Epley Maneuver. I used to have to do that occasionally too. Then I'd try to stay upright (sleep in a recliner) for about 24 hours afterwards to give those crystals time to settle down again. I feel for you, sweetie - there is NOTHING worse than vertigo! It is the scariest thing to lay on a bed and feel like the whole world is spinning and you're going to fall off! SO glad you found some relief! :)

  9. Are you having vertigo or dizziness? They are actually two different things. I had BPPV for years following a car accident, so I learned the hard way all about it. Vertigo is when everything around you seems to be moving or spinning, but it isn't really. Like if you were laying on the bed and rolled over and the whole room felt like it was spinning around you. Dizziness is when you stand up and get light-headed and feel for a moment like you could maybe pass out. It sounds like you're having dizziness. That could be caused from low blood pressure, especially if it only happens when you stand from a sitting position, or it could be pain meds, if you're still taking them, or even some antidepressants will cause that. It took us months several years ago to figure out the my mom's antidepressant was doing that to her. She actually did pass out a couple of times! I would ask your doctor again about it. There has to be a reason for it. Good luck!

  10. So, I don't hide it. I flaunt it, actually. I was banded 9/11/13. I've now lost 44lbs. I FEEL so much BETTER!!!!! I no longer take blood pressure meds...big victory. My arthritis pain is creeping back in, but I am finding creative ways to manage it since I've not been cleared to start my meds for that again. I just had two cortisone shots this week in my right foot...not fun, but necessary.

I move easier. I breath easier. I sleep more soundly. I smile more frequently. I have to wear a belt now. I have to check for saggy butt before I leave the house (my pants are getting way too big). I need new underwear (sorry, but I do...it's creeping in places it shouldn't).

I'm finding creative ways to stay on the meal plan my doctor and nutritionist have for me. I'm venturing out to restaurants and special ordering without shame. My favorite neighborhood place, where they know me by name, helps me figure out what to order so I can continue coming in. They love the challenge, too! They have yummy meatballs, marinara and steamed veggies, by the way.

I went from telling NO ONE about my surgery to telling anyone who looks at me for more than 2 seconds. Strangers now know my secret...lol.

I love this site. You guys rock.

This is not to say that my journey has been easy or bump-free. Figuring out that the b/p meds needed to go was rough. My "system" went haywire and I'm still figuring out my new "normal" when it comes to the way my bowels work now. It's a "fun" journey of self discovery.

But the best discovery I've found so far is the fighter in me. I want this to be successful so it will be.

So, I hope you each find your happiness like I've found mine.

You are SOOOO awesome!! What a wonderful attitude! Very inspiring!! :)

  12. I've been on myfitnesspal since my pre-op diet, and it is great! My doctor isn't that concerned with calories, but he does want to make sure I'm getting in enough Protein every day, and I like how it tracks all of that for you, plus your weight. It's so great too for tracking what you eat, with the bar code reader and all. I just love it! If anyone gets on it, add me as a friend! I'm MammaJamma42 on there too. We can help support each other there and here! :)

  13. I was banded July 18th, and I've lost 47.6 pounds so far. I've had two fills of one cc each since my surgery, the last one being a couple weeks ago. I'm still really tight from the last one, and haven't been able to progress much from Soups and liquids yet. Not sure whether it's because I also had plication or what, but small fills really seem to affect me more than they do others. I'm still thrilled with my progress though and haven't regretted doing this for even one second! Only wish I'd done it 10 years ago!
