  1. Hi All,

I had lap band surgery around 16 months ago and I'm down about 120 lbs (10 from my goal). I'm 25 and looking to make a career change and was really interested in seeing if their are any careers out their dealing with the Lap Band (besides a surgeon). Was just curious if anyone has an opinion or suggestion feel free to comment. Also not opposed to going back to school to obtain another degree. I live in Illinois and currently have a marketing degree.

  2. Just shy of 15 months since I had surgery. I'm about 20 pounds from my goal I've lost 110 so far. It was the best decision I have ever made. As mentioned before it should be viewed as a tool or aid to help assist in weight loss. If your looking for a quick fix or have no interest in working hard to achieve your goals then this isn't for you. I owe my life to the band and thanks to what it's done for me my quality of life has improved drastically. Nervousness is all part of the experience. Good luck with your decision.

  3. Hi All,

Today is 6 months exactly since I had lap band surgery. It was the greatest decision I've ever made. I'm 24 years old and 6'2. 2 weeks before pre op I was 330 lbs. Today I'm proud to say I weigh 247 lbs totally 83 lbs lost so far. My goal weight is 210 lbs and I hope to be there by May. There's no greater feeling then making the decision to become healthier. I went from being lazy to working out 5 days a week and playing basketball one night a week. There's no better motivation then seeing the scale continue to go down. Hopefully 6 months from today I can say I'm at my goal!

  4. I just got banded today.. I play roller hockey on a somewhat competitive level.. Was wondering if there was anyone else that plays sports here and how long did it take till you were able to get back into playing? Also did you notice any differences with hydration/ playing with less in your system?

It took me 2 weeks and I was back to playing basketball and slow pitch softball. It's all about how quickly you heal. I tend to heal rather quickly.

  5. Banded on May 21st 2013 (Weighed 330 2 weeks prior to surgery) today I'm 279. Got my second fill yesterday and I think I'm perfectly in the green zone. In my opinion the green zone is the place where you have to be conscious of chewing and if you eat too quickly you get the stuck feeling almost instantly. On average I can eat about 1 hamburger patty per meal. Feels great my goal is 120 pounds so I'm almost halfway there.

  6. I have my first fill today and I'm pretty nervous. Needles don't bother me I think it's just not knowing what to expect that's making me nervous. I had the band on May 21st. I started to diet a couple weeks before that and I'm down 40 lbs as of today. I'm ready for the weight to start melting off.
