  1. In my 1st 6 days, I probably didn't eat 6 sugar free popsicles. It does get better and you will be able to eat more, it just takes time. Just keep drinking your liquids so you don't get dehydrated.
  2. Recovery time? What recovery time? The doc was moving too slow for my taste so I just finished my sleeving myself. Go up and did a PX90 workout!!!!!!!!!!! Seriously though, I have a desk job and went back on day 10. But I probably could have gone back on day 7.
  3. Good luck on your journey. I am very happy with my sleeve. It has "cured" my constant hunger problem. I noticed a long time ago that no matter how big a meal I had, I'd be hungry again in about 2 hours. I rarely ate "bad" foods, I just ate large quantities of food - like grilled chicken breast, lean pork loin, tons of vegetables. The sleeve stopped that nagging sensation. I don't have the feeling of hunger anymore. It is still possible to eat bad foods and take in excess calories, many on here report that they initially still have problems with food cravings after the sleeve. So I would think about where your calories are coming from and where your hunger feelings initiate - in your stomach or your head. You will have to make the commitiment to make better food choices. The sleeve will cut the amount of food you can eat at one sitting, but it won't control what kind of food you are eating.
  4. Hang in there and stick with it. Your weight gain could be attributed to several factors, including the replacement of glycogen stores. Many people on here say your body stores 4oz or water for each 1 oz of glycongen stored. If you stick to your 450-700 calories a day, your body may fight to hang onto every calorie it can. But eventually it will have to burn those calories for fuel. I was stuck for about 8 days during my 3rd week. Weight wouldn't come off at all, then I had a MASSIVE POOP and was down over a pound that day. :-P Since then, I know that I've had at least one other week where I was stuck at a certain weight for the week, then the weight just started falling again.
  5. Hoping you have great success on your journey. I liken WLS patients to any other addiction groups like AA/EA or drug addiction. Until you've experienced the control food has over your life, you can't relate to it. So just do what you need to do to get better. I have never felt the need to tell anyone that didn't need to know about the surgery. But if I'm ever in a position that I have to disclose, I'm just going to tell them that I had my gall bladder removed or had a hernia repaired. And if they ask about the dramatic weight loss, I'm going to tell them that Oprah inspired me! :-O Sorry I wasn't able to write this out any clearer, but the right words just wouldn't come.
  6. I get heartburn as well, and I'm not on any antacids. It's just an on-off irritation. Mine seems to happen late at night. I'll wake up and feel the burn. I've noticed that sometimes it will go away after eating. So maybe it's my stomach's way of telling me it needs a little food.
  7. I know how you feel. I could lose a whole person and still be fat as hell!

Congrats on your success and such a pain free recovery. At 6 weeks I am just getting back to my former levels of energy, so take it easy and don't over stress your system. I felt like warmed over death for the 1st week and in no mood to post to my blog.
  9. Congrats, your looks are SMOKIN!
  10. Can you ask the low cost doctor if you can talk to some of his patients? If they've had a good experience, a few should want to recommend him. I know that I'd be happy to tell people about the great experience I had. If you can't get them, then I'd have to go with the pricier doctor. After all, this can turn into a life and death situation.
  11. Don't be worried just yet. I've gone through the same thing about 3 times in the past 6 weeks since surgery. My weight will drop constantly for a few days and then for 4 - 6 days I'll stay at the same weight. I think my body is going through a process of adjustment. It's not use to being on such a low calorie diet.
  12. Sorry to hear you are in pain. food tolerance is different for everyone. I'm sitting here eating ground up chicken mixed with salsa and refried Beans with no problems. But this morning I tried scrambled eggs for the 1st time in 6 weeks. Within a minute of the 1st bite, my stomach was rebelling. I had read on here that rice is one of the foods that will swell in your stomach. Don't know if that's true, but when I do try rice, I'm going to be real careful on the amount I consume.
  13. mnbaileygirl, I have the same thing - depending on what I eat. I'm 6 weeks post-op and still have trouble with chicken, or anything with sucralose or alcohol sugars. I tried some Gatorade G4 today and my stomach didn't like it one bit, but I was able to eat sunflower seeds and a peanut power bar with no problem. For each food, I have to go through a testing process to see if my stomach is ready for it.
  14. kcinpa, How bad can it be? After all it's not like they are cutting out 85% of the persons stomach or anything.
  15. I watched the video. I rate the device at about 11 on my ICK! o meter. Gives a whole new meaning to the term "pre-chewed food". We could do an infomercial for the new "make your own baby food at home" device. Why buy baby food when junior can get it straight from the tap!
  16. Really? That's weird, why would you want to be green and yellow? Hope you're doing well post-op.
  17. My moment was when I was wheeled into the pre-op waiting area. But even then it was a little surreal. The whole time I lay there I was thinking, "What would they do if I just got up and walked out of here?"
  18. Good luck, hoping for the best for you. And you're right, for the 1st week I didn't want anything to eat. I lived on sugar free popsicles and sugar free Jell-O. And not much of either. I drank lots of ice cold Crystal Light. I tried drinking chicken broth, but it just didn't taste very good after surgery. I liked it a lot pre-surgery. Once I was on full liquids, I pretty much switched over to Cream of Mushroom and Cream of Chicken soup.
  19. Here's the secret to eating slower - Bloons Tower Defense. This game will get you so obsessed you will forget to eat! Take 2 bites, play a round, take 2 bites play a round, take 2 bites play a round, then try to figure out why you can't beat this level, try a new tactic - THAT didn't work. Okay, try a different weapon and placements, OH GREAT!!!!!!!!!! Now there's a new bloon that I wasn't ready for - it's camoed and armored. And don't get me started on the MOABs. Just what I needed - a blimp filled with bloons. Damn game, it doesn't have a God mode - so I can't cheat! GREAT! Now my food is cold!!!!!!!!!!!!!! http://ninjakiwi.com...-Defense-5.html
  20. From what little research I've done, I would think the weight gain was mainly from Water. As your body converts your food to glycogen, it takes 4 oz of water for every 1 oz of glycogen your body stores. And after WLS your restricted diet reduces your glycogen stores. It sounds like you had a small carb fest and your body took the opportunity to easily convert the carbs to glycogen. I had watched on Sleevers journey on Youtube and he correlated his weight loss directly to his Protein intake. On days of increased protein and decreased carbs, he lost weight. On the high carb days, his weight loss was slower or non existent.
  21. Congrats on getting your date. How are you feeling? Nervous? Excited?
  22. Me too, I am still anxious about eating too much. I've come close and felt pressure and discomfort, but no vomiting. So I eat sloooow. It took me 30 minutes to eat a medium banana today.
  23. My doc told me, if it's sugar free and non carbonated it was okay to drink post-op. I haven't tried either one, I'm a lemonade Crystal Light kinda guy. :-)
  24. Sounds like hogwash to me. I want pictures for proof!
  25. Congrats on your success. 5 weeks for me. The weight is coming off slow and steady.
