  1. Yeah only a few select people know I am having surgery- my aunt because she's my ride to and from the hospital, my primary doctor and of course the medical staff at True Results, all you wonderful people, and my son only because he went with me to my second appt. I am using vacation time for surgery also so I don't have to use fmla so work won't even know! I was going to try and do surgery and take the next day off but they only do surgeries Thursday and Fridays so I requested 2 wks off due to reading many post on here about being uncomfortable for a couple wks post op.

I got completely shook to my core by my so called support system so I can't and won't trust them to be here for me, and support my decision. They will only tell me how stupid and dangerous this is, but to me it's stupid and dangerous not to have the surgery!

Ok off my soap box :)

Ps I have gone to my boss and nothing was done.

  2. I think the keys to success is understanding what the band is supposed to do' date=' not supposed to do, and what will be expected of you to be successful with it. Too often I read about people struggling, or worse even dealing with complications, because they are over-filling their band expecting it do all the work for them. That is not the case. Education is crucial.

I also think it's important to have a good nutritionist. We didn't get fat by eating healthy and definitely not by eating healthy portions. Band or no band, we have to learn to eat healthy and a nutritionist is the best way to do that.

On a personal level, I think tracking calories and measuring portions is crucial. I've lost over 200 pounds in 17 months and I'd have never been able to do it without the accountability tracking calories provides. Measuring my portions assures I don't accidentally over-eat. For me, both are so important.[/quote']

What an inspiration! I am just starting my journey and my goal is to lose 200lbs so I am defiantly listening to what you have to say having been where I am and being where I want so desperately to be one day!

  3. sounds like your mind is in the right place. GOOD for you. I know when i was waiting for that last month to go by' date=' it was dragging a** and then bam, it showed up..it will be that way for you. hang in there[/quote']

Thank you! I know it's going to be a huge life change but I am so ready! Tired of being fat an not able to move without pain! I went and bought some Atkins meals, the steam veggie packs for the microwave, Pure Protein frosty chocolate, and a food scale! I had a Naked chocolate banana juice for Breakfast and had pizza at Peter Piper pizza for summer days so dinner will be another shake or juice! I want to see how well I can stick to this meal plan!

  4. Seen the nutritionalist today and my weight went up 6lbs which takes me up to a BMI of 55 :( I need to lose 2-3lbs a week until surgery. I was told if my BMI is 50 or higher pre surgery then I will be on a 3 week pre op diet( 2 shakes and a sensible meal) and the post op diet is 4 weeks(1wk liquid 2wks mush and 1wk introducing solids) :) I asked how likely it is to get my surgery Sept 19 and was told that's a great date to shoot for! I'm very excited to start my journey and just wish it was September already! I need to work on eating slower and smaller bites still and I went and tried to get a food scale but they don't carry them so I will try a different place tomorrow! I already bought my gas x :) I am trying different Protein drinks now so I know what I like when it time to only being able to drink the Protein Drinks.

How is everyone else doing today?!

  5. So like the title says- Summer needs to hurry up and fly by like it did when I was a kid!

I have my second(need 4) Ins required weight loss visits on Monday June 10. I cant wait to get to September! I am looking so forward to getting healthy! I have several health issues and most will get better with weight loss

Pseudo tumor cerebri with severe papilloedema

    High BP

    Anxiety

    Heart attack at age 31

Severe lower back and leg pain

    Depression

Also when I did my required blood work they said I am pre diabetic :(

I have to have this surgery! I am a single mom of two and I have to be here to help and watch my children grow!

  6. I've had other surgeries while on my period and the doctors and nurses could care less! I even had an angiogram where they go into the artery in your groin O.o I had on the "sexy" gauze "just had a baby" panties the hospital supplied and a pad and since they were in "that" area they cut the one side away and did their thing :) no embarrassment all the female nurses know what's up and the doctors have seen worse :)

  7. I can't wait for my day to come! I hope summer flies as fast as it did when I was a kid! :) September can't come fast enough!

Hope all is well with you Stephanie and you keep us posted on how you are doing! Thanks for the list of things to have for after the surgery!
