My stance on the haters is this... it's my body, not yours. I'm doing what I feel is necessary to get to a healthy weight to live MY life healthily. I often think of these opinionated people and wonder if they have health conditions ie: diabetes, high cholesterol, or any condition that they take meds for. How would they like someone telling them not to take their meds? Just avoid the fat and cholesterol based foods, and exercise more, etc... They would look at you like you're crazy. They need those meds for their health. Well, this is the same situation, they choose to take medications for their health, and we choose to use a medical device for our health problem. Ahhh okay, I drink some of those too, the grape, cherry and peach. Now I mostly drink the Hawaiian Punch Lemon Berry, found also at Wal Mart, and equivalent to Crystal Light.

What is your 'peach ice mix'?

Were you cathed during surgery? If so, that's the most likely cause of your kidney infection. Some cross contamination likely occurred. It's good news that the infection is resolving though. Best wishes

If you're recently banded, it's very common to feel the stitches that attach your port to your muscles pinching and pulling a lot. If it's really bad, maybe you should call your surgeon. But the discomfort does subside as you heal from surgery. I don't feel anything anymore.

It helps to eat slowly, and pause between bites, and notice your body getting fuller, especially in the beginning when you have less restriction. You feel fuller with less food. It's difficult, I know. I am still struggling with this, but it's part of the learning process of utilizing your band to it it's maximum potential.

Ugh that sucks! How much is in your band now, and how much was taken out?

I don't crave sweets. When I stopped eating simple carbs, and even extremely limiting my complex carbs, it helped break that horrible sugar craving

Hey Laura and welcome. I didn't have any of your symptoms, but are you staying hydrated? Is water making you have the sensation to vomit as well? I wonder if your surgeon tried you on some anti-nausea meds if that would get you past this issue until your swelling goes down and you're body gets accustomed to eating again? I would ring your surgeon if you can't stay hydrated, decrease urination, or your symptoms worsen. Best wishes and a speedy recovery

I'm losing inches and not weight. Yes it's a step in the right direction, but it would be nice to see the scale reflect my efforts. I've lost 4 dress sizes since my surgery in August. I'm not giving up, but just wishing the scale will catch up to my inches lost lol

My favorite chicken salad recipe is chicken breast, celery, halved red grapes, pecans and plain greek yogurt / mayo (ratio of yogurt & mayo is 3 parts yogurt to 1 part mayo) It's really good on salad greens

Call your surgeon! And in the future, call your surgeon ASAP if you start vomiting in the future. I've decided to have Emetrol at home in case of any nausea or vomiting, until I can get meds from my doctor. Best Wishes

I've only had one fill so far, I have 5 cc's in a 10 cc band. I'm curious as to how much fill you received this time? How much fill did you have prior to this last fill? My doctor is aggressive with fills and I get my next one mid November, so I'm curious if your WLS is aggressive too. I'm hoping to avoid this same sort of issue in the future. Thanks and best wishes

Terribly sad! I think this woman is brave for putting her story out there in public. Too many keyboard warriors bullying this woman still as she's lost weight. People are cruel. I want to ask each of those that replied, 'What if it was your loved one that may die from obesity? Would you be singing a different tune about WLS??' It shouldn't matter what method you take to get to your ideal weight, as long as it's healthy.

Keep fighting, advocate for yourself. I would talk to the insurance coordinator at your WLS office, she has probably seen this problem before. Insurance companies need to realize that this surgery would benefit not only you, but them as well, since you're not extremely over weight, so if you nip it in the bud, you could save them big $$ by not developing comorbidites in the future. I agree, mushies were difficult for me to stomach, I'd rather be on liquids the whole time. Mushies seem so unnatural...poor babies with their baby food LOL
