    The lovely 3rd week stall

Ha! Did you actually think you could hide from the infamous three week stall? 😂

scared...what will happen when I'm an old lady??

My bariatric center recommends three meals per day and one or two snacks if needed, and strongly suggest that we do not graze between meals and or snacks. The early days and weeks post op are the only time we have to sip constantly, due to swelling in our stomachs/pouches it just can't accept more than an ounce or two at a time. One of the reasons weight loss surgery is so liberating is because (once fully healed and eating solids) we establish a normal routine with food, the only difference is we eat less than non-wls folks. The whole idea is for life to normalize and not be a slave to food any longer. Best wishes!

Should I edit my goal weight.

Who would laugh? I can't imagine anyone here laughing at goal weight struggles, because most of us have either been there or will be there at some point. I asked my Dietician about goal weight and she told me that no one in their practice cares about goal weights, as in no one there expects every patient to hit "healthy bmi" she said the only purpose bmi serves is for insurance purposes (in their practice). I asked about a goal weight because during the entire process no one has given me a goal weight to reach. She told me my goal weight will be where I am happiest at. So I thought that was good advice. Each patient has different struggles with what caused their obesity, and obesity and weight loss isn't always cut and dried. so it's nice to be involved with a practive that treats us as individuals. So if you are happy with your weight, that's most imporatant. Also, as lizonaplane said, you may want to give medical weight loss some thought if you do want to try to lose more. It's geared mostly towards people that are slightly overweight. It might be the tool that you need to lose a little more weight. I know glp 1 agonists help with appetite suppression and have few side effects, and they might work with your current meds (no interatctions). And topiramate/topamax helps with carb cravings. Best wishes! 🤗

    Arthritis medicine after vsg

If you find out that you can't take nsaids or Voltaren gel, you might want to ask your surgeon about full spectrum CBD oil. I have RA and that's what I take now since I'm off of all nsaids. There's CBD topicals too, and they work very well for breakthrough joint pain.

Am I being a big baby

Good idea. Just be aware of the symptoms of blood clots and call paramedics if you get those. Happy healing! 🤗

Am I being a big baby

No you're not being a baby. You just had major surgery and everyone reacts differently. I am concerned about your legs swelling tho. I'd reach out to my team and let them know what's going on. They need to triage you asap due to the increased risk of blood clots and other reasons that could cause your legs to swell.

    Gas pain....omg....

I'm happy the heating pad is working for you, just don't put it over top of your incisions (I know it's unlikely because that's not where your CO2 gas pains are, but FYI) until they're healed properly. You might have less sensation due to the nerves being cut so you could burn yourself without knowing, and the heat can cause increased blood flow to the incisions resulting in bleeding.

    Gas pain....omg....

I think the fact that my hospital does abdominal nerve blocks is what saved me from that acute post op pain. Wow that leg surgery seems brutal. So sorry you dealt with that! The labor pains produced this sort of euphoric high, I can't explain it. Probably my body's way of dealing with pain/shock, lol. I think it's called birth euphoria. I definitely experienced it.

    Gas pain....omg....

Haha yeah. I had a fleur de lis tummy tuck a couple years ago and it wasn't painful at all. Huge incisions, muscle repair, major tissue dispruption and it really wasn't painful. But the gas is definitely a bit uncomfortable. Idk I might be a freak of nature because I even did labor without drugs when I had my son.

    Gas pain....omg....

I've had three surgeries where they used CO2 gas, they were all robotic, and one more upcoming for my revision soon... I've had gas pains with all except one, my gallbladder removal surgery. I'm not sure what the difference is. The same surgeon that removed my gallbladder also placed my Lap Band, and I had gas pain after the Band. I can only hope that my RNY revision produces no gas pains, and the surgeon who removed my Lap Band last year will be doing the RNY surgery, so according to my statistics for myself, this next surgery for revision should produce no gas pains. 😂 Who am I kidding, lol. I know I'll have those gas pains, lol.

    Cancelled Surgery

My current surgeon actually told me that my weight loss probably was more to do with my behavior changes, etc than the actual Lap Band. Lap Band has is well known as an epic failure, doing more harm than good for the majority. So now I'm looking forward to an actual weight loss surgery that is more powerful and one that can get me to the finish line (goal weight). So I guess it all depends on which surgery we choose. I know the DS is a very powerful weight loss surgery. If you compare Lap Band to DS, one is not very powerful and the other is the most powerful, and all other weight loss surgeries fall between those two as far as how powerful they tend to be.

    Cancelled Surgery

True, weight loss surgery isn't for everyone. It's not a one size fits all sort of surgery. But it's better to find out before you have surgery than after. If you're going to give diet and exercise a try again, maybe medical weight loss can be a tool you can use, the same way weight loss surgery is a tool that others use. There's all sorts of newer medical weight loss options now, it's not like the phentermine only options from years ago. There's new drugs like glp 1 agonists (Saxenda, Ozempic, Rybelsus, Wegovy) they're often prescribed to help with appetite suppression. Best wishes!

  15. I'm not sure if you will get any responses right now about Renew Bariatrics, but if you use the search tool here on BP you can find threads from the past, which might give you some insight about your topic... Best wishes. https://www.bariatricpal.com/search/?q=renew bariatrics

    Gas pain....omg....

What kcuster83 said. And it's moving upwards since it's near your shoulder and neck, that means it's almost gone. So that's the good part. At this point since you're walking already all you can do is comfort measures like changing from sitting to reclining positions and warm/hot showers and using heating pads. Hang in there, it's almost disappated now!

    Absolutely hate myself now

What country did you have your surgery in? I know Mexico doesn't require psych evaluations, that's why I'm asking about it. It's difficult for me to imagine if your surgeon required a psych evaluation that they approved you for surgery with all of the things you're typing about on this forum. Surely a mental health professional would've seen the red flags that you weren't quite ready for surgery at this point. And my taste changed after my surgery. Things I never wanted to eat before surgery became my favorite things afterwards. So hang in there, maybe this will happen for you as well. Best wishes.

    Gastric Bypass in Tijuana?

This sounds about like my thinking when I chose the Lap Band. I can now see it was a waste of time and not powerful enough to get adequate weight loss. I know now I should've chosen RNY from the beginning.

    Gastric Bypass WITH stomach removal

I hope you have success with your surgery. But honestly if it were me, and I didn't get the surgery that I hired my surgeon for... AND he or she removed part of my body that I didn't agree to. Well, yeah I'd find an attorney. That's just not right at all. I wish you the best! And keep us updated as to which surgery you have. I'm genuinely curious now.

I just read this other thread. It sounds similar to what you've described. I've never heard of this before today.
