    OMG! Not 1 Sympathetic Comment!!

Terribly sad! I think this woman is brave for putting her story out there in public. Too many keyboard warriors bullying this woman still as she's lost weight. People are cruel. I want to ask each of those that replied, 'What if it was your loved one that may die from obesity? Would you be singing a different tune about WLS??' It shouldn't matter what method you take to get to your ideal weight, as long as it's healthy.

    Denied for the 3rd time

Keep fighting, advocate for yourself. I would talk to the insurance coordinator at your WLS office, she has probably seen this problem before. Insurance companies need to realize that this surgery would benefit not only you, but them as well, since you're not extremely over weight, so if you nip it in the bud, you could save them big $$ by not developing comorbidites in the future. Best wishes to you

    discouraged

My WL Surgeon gave me appointments for my check ups and fills a whole year in advance. You may want to inquire to see if this is possible for you. Best Wishes
  4. I agree, mushies were difficult for me to stomach, I'd rather be on liquids the whole time. Mushies seem so unnatural...poor babies with their baby food LOL

    Ugh post-op emotions!

Sorry to hear of your loss. And that can't help the emotions of having an operation either. You're only a week out from surgery, your body is going through the healing process, and you don't feel like your old self. There's no wonder you're emotional. I was too. I wondered what in the world I'd done..etc. But with each passing day, I'm happy with the decision I made. The pain beneath your ribs may be gas, and it helps to walk to relieve the pressure. But, as always if you're unsure about anything with your recovery, always call your surgeon. But what you're feeling emotionally is to be expected due to your loss and recovery from surgery. Do you go to a local support group for Band patients? You may want to consider finding one, it helps to talk to someone that is going through what you are now. Hang in there, you've made a wonderful decision to get healthy! Best wishes to you!

    Protien Shakes

Since this was a protein shake thread, I wanted to share this recipe for pumpkin protein shakes. It's my fav now. Perfect for fall, and it's convenient if you make the shake starters. http://bariatricfood...e-starters.html

    Obamacare may deny WLS?

AMEN!!!! You just said everything I was about to type out, lol. I know many Canadians (esp retired Canadians that Winter here in Florida) cross the border for healthcare, because they know they can't wait for the Canadian health care system to care for them! Their lives depend upon it. So terribly sad!

    Obamacare may deny WLS?

This totally sucks, I think this will cause our nation to become more unhealthy. We are already an obese nation over all. I was never a proponent of ObamaCare, can't people see what similar government health care programs have done to countries like Canada? Not to mention how it will affect future health care employees like doctors. Very little incentive to be a doctor in the US now. The physician hopefuls in college are probably second guessing their choices to become a physician. I know I would. Doctors are already under too much bureaucratic stress as it is, with ObamaCare it's only going to get worse. Patient care is only going to suffer more in my opinion.

    How common are complications?

Well, that's a vast array of complications. Any procedure will carry a risk of complications, that's just life. With banding becoming more popular, there are more and more 'band patients', so the amount of cases with complications will increase, but the percentage of complications are still very small. This is where you and your WL surgeon should discuss YOUR health and weigh the options if banding would benefit you and your health or not. I think in most cases, it would help most obese patients. There is probably a small, select number of patients that are more at risk than your average band patient, due to breathing and cardiac complications, etc. In my opinion, banding was well worth the risk, although that risk was small. I've had no complications. Best wishes to you! “Fear? What has a man to do with fear? Chance rules our lives, and the future is all unknown. Best live as we may, from day to day.” ― Sophocles, Oedipus Rex

Losing weight but no fun to be around.....

My WLS told me this could occur and to be prepared for it if it does. I'm not sure how or if it would affect men. I mean, they do produce estrogen like women, just not as much. But I would agree with Mis73, you should make your doctor aware, and ask for a full work up. Best wishes

    I'm confused

My post fill diet is: 24 hours liquids, then 24 hours of mushies, then regular food.

    Lapband to gastric bypass surgery

Oh, so they do them, but you wouldn't choose to have a plication? I thought in your last post you said they didn't perform them anymore. I must have read that wrong. Cause I do know several people that have had them recently, and have done beautifully with the band and plication together

    Lapband to gastric bypass surgery

How recent did they stop doing Plications? Cause my band buddy just got one 7 weeks ago As a matter of fact I know several people who have gotten them recently

    Lapband to gastric bypass surgery

Right, I was just wondering if my band had to be removed due to complications, if it would be possible to get a plication only, in place of the band.

Sounds like you're off to an excellent start, and you have a great attitude! And I agree, lying flat wasn't comfy for me either. Hope it continues to be an uneventful recovery!

    Lapband to gastric bypass surgery

Now that you mention that Bayou, have you heard of LB to plication? I wonder if that's possible? I like the idea because it's still reversible.
