    How Much Are U "eating"?

oy, not the refried bean debate! Sounds messy. I think we all have different lists geared to what our surgeons and/or nuts recommend. Yes, refried beans were definetly on my list. And yes at 10-14 days out. Point being, I'm asking a question. I don't need/want my food policed. Right up there with friends and family saying, "should you be eating THAT?" Drives me nutso. No offense to Laura-ven, you are always most helpful. Sorry if I'm coming off a little b*tchy, IM HUNGRY!! ????

    Let's Talk Fashion

My favorite of all time are Joes Jeans. They're pricey but sometimes you can find them at TJ Maxx or Marshall's for like $50-60. My second favs are 7 for all mankind. They made my bootie look perfect! Again, great if you can find them for less than the $200 they average for at Nordys. I love Miss Me too but the plainer versions. I don't need my rear end bedazzled. And lastly, my go to for cute designer jeans while still losing is Guess Jeans. Especially if you have an outlet store or a G by Guess store near you. They also carry them at Macys. Skinny jeans, tall heels and a cute shirt is my go to outfit for a night out with hubby.

are you trying to be helpful? I say if it's not on your list, don't eat it. And don't worry about my list.

    How Much Are U "eating"?

Thank you for your replies. I've been eating really slow trying to take notice of my "full" signs. I've been taking my ppi twice daily hoping to get a handle on this hunger. It's rough but sooo glad to be at puréed food stage. I can also still gulp water although I try my hardest not to. I guess I was expecting this to be like when I was banded. Full foods can't come soon enough!
  5. I kind of can't believe it. Only 6 months ago I was uninsured and ended up in the er not even able to swallow saliva. My first appt with my surgeon was 7/12 and my band was removed 9/12 and as of 11/5 I am the new owner of a sleeve! The buyers remourse is subsiding and I'm moving around better. I just can't kick these hunger pains! They're brutal. I told my dr to remove every bit of Grehlin that he could because I never wanted to feel hunger again. Unfortunately I think they're slow going. I'm on full liquids now and I sware I can't get satisfied. I'm trying to keep up on my liquids but it's hard because I spend more time eating Protein shakes, Soups, puddings and jellos. I am still taking anti nausea and omeprazole hoping that would help curb my hunger. It's not. Am I supposed to feel satiety at all during this liquid phase? Or do I just deal until I move on to puréed and softees next week? Not gonna lie, it really sucks! But I've lost 6lbs since Tuesday and the best part is knowing they're never coming back! So excited to be a loser with ya all ! Kayla

At The End Of The Day...

Most people think it's so simple. You got surgery, you lost weight. That's why I laugh about it being "the easy way out" there is NOTHING easy about this. You might have been ready to make the change, you might have had no complications. But it is and will always be a lifelong battle. But you're right, no one will walk in your shoes or know what it's like to be in your head. And sometimes that makes it easier but sometimes it makes it harder. I liken it to addiction. It is a conscious effort that you have to put forth every single day in order to succeed. It's a long road, all uphill, and one can just hope that in the end... It was worth it.
  7. I'm not overly concerned with the actual surgery but i started my liquid diet Friday and have cheated a little every day. Yesterday I cheated a lot. Half a breakfast sandwich, a bag of cashews and a bunch of popcorn. I'm so nervous even though my liver isn't fatty anyways. Whoever thought of this clear liquid diet has obviously never been on one. 23 more hours!!!!

    Anxious About Surgery

Sweety if you weren't nervous, it would be weird. But you've done your research, you've chosen your surgeon, you are getting together your diet for pre and post op.... You're ready!! It's normal to be nervous. But just think of what an improvement this will be to your life. To be honest, a few weeks before surgery I started online shopping at stores that only carry "normal" sizes and piecing together outfits for my new and improved smaller figure. Then I saved them in my favorites and can't wait till I'm ready to buy them! That really helped get me excited and overcome the anxiety. You are going to do beautifully and you are making the right choice. We are so fortunate to have the ability to have this surgery it really is a blessing. You'll do great! Good luck.

    January 2014!

i had 8 weeks in between my surgeries and gained 2 lbs and believe me I was having food funerals right and left. I wouldn't worry about any gain. If you do gain, it's going to be minimal and after you get sleeved you'll lose and it will NEVER COME BACK!

    Surgery tomorrow! Freaking out

glad you are doing better. I'm hanging in there too. Feel like my belly is going to rip open every time I stand up but if I support myself I'm ok. Plus I'm hungry! Like really hungry. And nothing helps. What does it mean when your iv is infiltrated? I had a huge air bubble in mine and alarms started going off everywhere. Scared the crap out of me. But I'm sure you agree, each day gets a little better. Have u weighed yourself yet?

    Back to work

Just something else to consider.... My doc recommends about 4 weeks off to recover from the sleeve. He says realistically you only need about 7-10 days to recover from the actual procedure but he recommends the extra time to really plan for success and adjust to my new way of life and new way of eating. He really wants me to get used to planning out meals, measuring, weighing and making good choices as your diet changes those first few weeks. I am unable to afford that much time off but I think it's a great plan for those that can. Really set yourself up for success. I had my surgery on Tuesday and I'll probably go back next Thursday (9 days off). But I'm not going to push myself. As of this moment I can't even stand up straight because my big incision burns and pulls so much but we will see! Good luck to u all!
  13. I have literally been starving since I woke up from surgery. And nothing helps quench the feeling. Sometimes I can minimize it with water but the feeling never completely goes away. I'm taking anti nausea medicine and a ppi but I really feel this is honest to goodness hunger. The hospital dietician says it's impossible but all I want is a giant cheeseburger or even some raisen bran or oatmeal. Anything to get rid of the warm gurgley hollow feeling in my tummy. This above anything else is making me feel extreme buyers remourse. Like what did I just do to myself? Am I ever going to feel normal again? At this point, I feel like happy satisfied fat would be better than this. I miss food.

    18 Hours away from surgery.

you're tellin me! Well one was 6 years ago when I got my band. Then one in sept when I had my band out. And now this one. Fun stuff... Not!

    pre-op diet starting Nov 8Th

Good luck. I'm telling you now, it ain't easy! My surgery is tomorrow and I've been on clear liquids since Thursday. My head hurts, my tummy is growling and all I want are some French fries. Ok seriously, I'm obsessing about fries. This is my 3rd post in 10 min about some darn fries. I'm starving!!!! But what helps is thinking about being slim and sexy and healthy! And all the cute clothes I'm gonna buy. Best wishes to you! Hang in there, it will all be worth it.

    Surgery tomorrow! Freaking out

from what I've heard, flavored sponges are a lifesaver after surgery. I'm pretty sure I had them when I was banded. 13 hours from now, I will hopefully be happily sucking away on one until they allow me some broth or jello

    18 Hours away from surgery.

I'm being sleeved at 9am tomorrow. 5 days of clear liquids....who am I kidding? I've cheated every day. But less and less each day. I will really kick myself if my surgeon won't sleeve me tomorrow. But this is the 3rd preop liquid diet I've had to do. The second one in 2 months and it doesn't get any easier. My head is pounding right now and I'd sell a kidney for some cheese fries with ranch from Outback right now. What is it they say? "Nothing tastes as good as skinny feels?" Right now... I think whoever said that has never been on clear liquids for an extended period of time.

    January 2014!

Ps, my band worked great for 3+ years and then it slipped and I gained 80 of my 124 lbs back. I know a lot of people that have had the band but only a couple that haven't had an issue.... Yet. It should be taken off the market

    January 2014!

omg outback cheese fries with their ranch dressing. I'm literally salivating right now. My surgery is tomorrow and I've been on liquids since Thursday. I wish I would've thought to go to Outback last week!

    November buddies where are you?

Tomorrow (11/5) is my day!! Wish I could say I aced the clear liquid diet but I've cheated...a lot! Getting super nervous. Not so much about the surgery itself but about me failing my sleeve. Donuts....cookies....candy....cake.... Some days I wouldn't eat if not for those things. I hope I can do this. See u on the other side!

    Surgery tomorrow! Freaking out

Ooh good luck to you!!! I really hope they remove every ounce of Grehlin from my stomach so I'm never hungry again.
  22. I'm still preop. Surgery is on Tuesday. But I've heard a lot of people say their tastes have changed since being sleeved. I thought about this tonight as I had a Peanut Butter twix with a glass of milk. I am hoping and praying my very sweet tooth goes away. So does anyone have an experience they'd care to share? Did you become lactose intolerant or were you a major sugar fiend and find your tummy doesn't handle sweets well? Or did you love potato chips and end up that even the smell of Lays makes you queasy? And please please please tell me that one of you was a Starbucks addict and after being sleeved, you can't even hear the words,"triple grande iced salted caramel mocha, 2 pumps mocha, no whip" without throwing up in your mouth a little?!? Thank you!!
  23. Are you working with a therapist at all? If not, I might suggest talking to one to help work through your feelings. I don't know about this first hand but my sister is adopted and has tried searching for her birth parents. It does become quite the emotional roller coaster. And you have to be prepared for not finding them or them not being happy to be found. And even if you found them and it was a happy reunion, are you prepared to hear why they decided to place you for adoption? In the best case scenarios, you will probably still feel a little anger, resentment or rejection just because that's human nature. Only you know if you're strong enough to handle that without having food as a comfort. It can be scary and overwhelming at times. I wish you the best of luck and for the best possible outcome no matter what you choose.

    Night Binging

what do you gravitate towards? Sweet? Salty? Savory? I like the hot chocolate idea but not so great if you're dying for some French fries. How about some string cheese? Edamames? Some hi fiber cereal with a little milk? Eggface's site has some great snack ideas and they look delicious! Just google "world according to egg face". I've also found that a lot of times, I mistake thirst for hunger. So when I feel like snacking, I drink a glass of water first and usually I don't feel cravings after that.
  25. My surgery is scheduled for 8 days from now. Im going through the range of emotions from being really excited, to dread to ...you name it! My latest thing is what if it doesn't work? I've been on a few conversion threads as I am lap band to sleeve and I see sleevers converting to other surgeries because they failed to yield good results with their sleeve. For instance, one lady didn't lose ANY weight and when they did some sort of sleeve test, they were amazed that her sleeve was able to stretch to almost normal size. I've heard of others not having success as well and it scares the heck out of me. This will be my 3rd surgery (band in, band out, sleeve) and I am not able to have a bypass. Anyone else's sleeve just not "work" ? Im already nervous that my banana-tummy will be larger than norm because I had the lap band and had a prolapse. But my surgeon uses a 34F Bougie and hopefully all the swelling and other crap caused by my band will be gone by surgery time. Thanks in advance.
