  1. I am thrilled that I found this thread. I have laughed all the way through it.

I had this happen to me for the first time this morning. I didn't know if I should call 911. It lasted about 30 minutes. I hope to have learned my lesson and will chew, chew, chew from now on. The excess gas has been a problem also. My boyfriend just laughs - although we have been together for 14 years, I don't think I burped or the other in front of him. Yeah, I know - I'm a little weird about those things.

    Here's to smaller bites!

  2. I have been watching TV the whole afternoon because today is my last "vacation day" before to come back to work tomorrow and I can not count how many food commercials I have seen!!!! I'm so happy that I'm not hungry at all with the band but media did affect me a lot before with all theirs cheese, double crust, etc commercials LOL, so my tip of the day for you pre-ops out there: do not watch TV!

My last day also, and thought the exact same thing! Im amazed at all the food commercials. I'm glad my appetite is still suppressed from surgery.

  3. I feel for you. Here is what I have done: I use the Oh Yeah ready made Protein Drinks found on Amazon. strawberry and banana are my favs and at 32 grams of Protein - I'm half way there. I then made Turkey meatloaf muffins (turkey, egg whites, finely chopped bell pepper and onion and Tomato sauce). I keep them in the freezer for frig until I'm ready. I heat a couple of muffins with marinara or jarred spaghetti sauce. Once heated through I put it through the immersion blender until it's the consistency of Soup. It really tasted OK and I feel I am eating real food. One turkey meatloaf muffin is 60 calories and 11 grams of protein. I eat two at a time. For a bit of delicacy I picked up a seafood bisque at the grocery store, watered it down with 1 can of skim milk and purred it a little more with the immersion blender. That has been yummy also. I hope these ideas help. - Amanda

  4. I understand that the band is inserted without any Fluid, yet I know my appetite is significantly less than what it was before surgery. I am day 4 post-op, my diet is partly full liquid and partly mushy. I haven't eaten whole foods yet, but think I will be able to tomorrow. I'm drinking plenty of Water (liquids) between meals and I'm making sure I get at lest 60 grams of Protein everyday. But I'm still only eating 600 - 800 calories a day. What is causing my appetite suppression if there is not fill in the band? Did others experience this? How long does this last? Your experiences are appreciated - Amanda

  5. My surgery is scheduled for Thursday. I'm excited but very nervous. How many of you gained weight in the anticipation of surgery? I have gained 10 pound upon my decision. I am more disgusted with myself now than I was when I finally admitted I needed help. I told my family tonight about my decision. Nothing like waiting until the last minute. But of course I'm blessed with all good wishes. I will continue to come back to this site for encouragement as I begin my journey.
