  1. My port is hurting today. First pain I have felt in about a week post surgery. Wonder what I did to make it hurt.

  2. Mine is front and center about an inch below my sternum. About the place they would do compressions for CPR. Hmmmm.... Tomorrow will be two weeks post op. Today is the first time I can feel it. It is really sore today for some reason. Normal?
  3. I made it through a 30 minute workout last night. Feeling good and finally moving the scale again. :-)

Post-Op Roundup - how is everyone doing?

I was banded on the 24th. Things have gotten back to normal except I am still on my two week post op liquid diet. I am getting more hungry ready for some real food but at the same time I am ready to get some fluid in my band and get the ball rolling. The weight loss has come to a stall since my appetite has come back. I can complain because I loss 20 lbs in 3 weeks, but now it has made me a scale monster. I weight myself every morning and get disappointed now. How soon is everyone getting their first fill? I go for my post 2 week appointment the 11th. You think I might get one then?
  5. Feeling 100% again. Not so ready to go back to work tomorrow though. :-)

1st thing to eat post op

I am doing creamy Soups and muscle milk. I am also a little nervous about eating much. Today I am 1 week post op. I still have 1 week on liquids. I am more nervous about stretching the pouch or slipping of the band. After the long fight to get here I don't want to screw it up. I don't have much of an appetite yet. So I guess that's a plus.

May 24 2013 - the start and a wish list

I hope everyone is recovering well. Today is my first day I feel almost 100%. I did a lot of walking yesterday and finally defeated the annoying gas pains. I cleaned house today and started cleaning out my clothes. Goodbye fat clothes! I usually store them, but this time I am not going back! It is time to pull out some of the smaller clothes I have. I have so many different wardrobes. I'm guessing most of you guys do to if you are a yo-yo dieter like me. Hey I guess it beats having to buy clothes when do don't plan on staying that size long. Hope everyone is doing great! Oh I found a site mybariatricpantry.com great food and super fast delivery. I got my vitamins, some yogurt, oatmeal and soups. Just the stuff I need. All high proteins.
  9. Feeling so much better today. I am actually able to drink without all the nausea and gas. I have lost 6 lbs since surgery. Looking forward to June 7th so I can EAT some mushy foods. This drinking meals is getting old. Lol

I love it! Those are on mine too. Throw away elastic waited clothes! Ride a roller coaster! Wear makeup without sweating it off the first hour. There are sooo many! Good luck tomorrow. 12 hours to go before banding. Yay for the May 24ers! Hehe!

    Low Blood Sugar

I had to quit taking both of my diabetic meds. I got some light cranberry and apple juice and drink a small glass of it when I start to drop. I have been hanging around in the 70's but doing alright for the most part. I go in for surgery Friday. My two weeks are almost over. I know the first few weeks are also going to be a challenge with my sugar, it is kind of a change dealing with low blood sugar instead of high. Good luck to you. It really does get easier.
  15. Today is my last day of work!!! My husband and I are getting a room in Texarkana tomorrow for my surgery on Friday!!!!! Wooohooo!!!!

    May Surgery Dates???

My doctor's instructions are no mushy foods until the third week. 2nd week are cream soups, so you still have time to heal. Maybe next week you can enjoy it. Best wishes for a speedy recovery. :-)

    Low Blood Sugar

I am also having a hard time keeping my blood sugar up. I have stopped taking my januvia and glyburide. I am on day 8 of my liquid diet and have had to take some glucose tablets to keep my sugar from bottoming out. I try to spread my shakes out to where I would be taking one around the time my sugar is crashing. My sugar is hanging around 86 as a high which for me is very low. 125 used to be a low number for me before the liquid diet. If you find out about any pointers I am open to any suggestions. I have a week to go and everyone is tired of me snappy and moody.

    PCOS getting better?

Hi ladies! I wish I would have known about the lap band sooner. I had a total hysterectomy when I was 28 because of PCOS and endometriosis. When you treat one it makes the other so much worse. I had two surgeries before my hysterectomy. One to remove all the endometriosis and the other was to drill the cysts and try to jump start my ovaries to ovulate. Between all that and all the fertility pills it made me almost crazy. When I had a period for 4 months straight of heavy bleeding I finally went to my doctor and told him to take it all out. I couldn't do it anymore. I found after my surgery that when I did get off the hormones I have been the happiest, less moody in my life. I have come to the conclusion that my body wasn't used to the hormones so when I was taking them or injecting them in my body it was causing my moods to swing way outta control. So now my moods are controlled, the bleeding is no longer, I still have the major facial hair problem and the weight problem. My surgery date is set for the 24th of this month. I am ready to tackle it one problem at a time. I would love any pointers and/or issues you have found that may relate.
  19. Chasity I grew up in Katy! I went to Hutsell Elementary and Katy Jr High. We moved right before I started high school. I went back and visited a few years ago and can't believe how much it has grown. It has become an extension of Houston now. Before it was a few subdivisions and a lot of rice fields. lol How is your pre-op going? I am craving some meat!
  20. I think I got this pre-op down. One week almost down one to go...

    May Surgery Dates???

My lap band coordinator was telling me about anchors and balloons. You have people that will be balloons in your life and lift you up and support you. Then there are anchors who will always discourage you by little comments like oh one cookie won't hurt, or you shouldn't loose anymore weight you are looking unhealthy. She said if you know about it up front you can be ready to respond to the anchors and stay strong. I know my sister is jealous about me getting the lap band. I really wish she would be excited for me and be part of the journey and maybe one day soon she can get it done also. We just have to remember the balloons and anchors and surround ourselves with balloons. :-) Good luck!!!
  22. 3 days down... Excited I get to eat a small salad tonight. :-)

    I GOT APPROVED!!!

I hope everything goes great!! Let us know how it goes. Best wishes!
  24. Don't be embarrassed, be proud you are taking the steps to change and become a healthy person for you and your family. I felt embarrassed at first and didn't want to tell anyone, but you know what? I am doing this for me and my family. I want to enjoy going on vacations and doing things on the weekend without having to sit down and rest or being embarrassed about my weight. I want to go ride roller coasters without worrying about the bar not being able to lock over all my fat. I would love to go to the beach and not be so self conscious the whole time I can't enjoy myself. To me those are more embarrassing than getting the lap band. You should be proud of yourself for getting the help you need to make the changes in your life to become a healthier person. Let people know so you have more people in your corner to talk and support you. There are more people than you know out there that are supportive of the lap band, and most of them know someone close to them that have had it done. I was amazed when I opened up about it. I am getting support from people I thought would be very judgmental. They are proud of me for choosing a healthier lifestyle. One step at a time... we will become a slimmer, healthier person!!! Good luck!!!
