  1. Thank you for the suggestions! I tried to make an appointment a couple weeks ago for spring break, and apparently everyone has the same idea because they're completely booked! I told them the situation and they put my name down in case someone cancels so hopefully I can get in. As far as the rules, I haven't been following pretty much any of them the last few months, I know it's horrible! I was doing really well at first, but since I haven't had a fill my band is completely empty and it's doing me no good right now. I really haven't been following them because I'm just as hungry as before I had the band, but I know some of it is emotional/bored eating as well. The closest doctor to me is 2 hours away but it's still better than 4 hours.

  2. I am in desperate need of a Lap Band guru and mentor. I had my Lap Band surgery in July 2013 and am failing miserably. I've only lost 15 pounds and I don't know what to do next. I haven't had a fill because TR in Houston (where I had my surgery) didn't tell me that they don't do fills on fridays, and I live 3 hours away from there at college and can only get home on fridays. I haven't been able to stick to the rules at all since like September and I don't know what to do next but I don't want to give up! Can someone please help me?:(

  3. I had my surgery in July 2013 and am sad to say I've only lost 20 pounds :(. I know for sure I'm not doing my part like I should be doing, but I also haven't been able to have one fill since my surgery. My doctor's office told me AFTER surgery that they don't do fills on Fridays, and since I go to college 4 hours away from my doctors office, it's pretty much impossible to be there on a day other than Friday. How hard is it to switch doctors for fills/aftercare? There's one closer to my parents house that does fills on Friday and also has once a month saturday fills, and also a TR office only 1 1/2 from my school that I could do a weekday appointment at. Can you do fills at more than one office? Since my surgery was entirely covered by insurance, what do I need to do with them to switch?

  4. I haven't heard that. I'm 2 weeks out and have vomited once. It was absolutely no fun so I definitely will try to avoid that in the future. On a side note, I specifically asked my doctor about vomiting because I don't live close to his office so I was worried about stomach bands and such, and he said while they advise to get an unfill if you're really ill, he's never personally had a patient slip their band from vomiting, and he's had a lot of patients. So that gives me a little piece of mind!

  5. I feel the same way! I can eat the same amount I could pre-band, but I do see some differences because I did throw up today when I ate too fast and a few things feel tight doing down. I actually like feeling those things because it reminds me that the band is really there! When I really do eat really slow and take small bites and chew a lot, I definitely eat less just because I'm not shoveling it all in before I even know I'm stuffed. I feel satisfied, but not full, and feel like I've been eating for a while so I'm done. It works! I just need to make myself eat slowly EVERY meal, and not just when I'm afraid I'll throw up lol.

  6. Happened to me this morning. It sucked!! I didn't go back to liquids for the rest of the day but made sure I ate A LOT slower and smaller bites when I did lunch and dinner. I knew I was eating too fast when I was doing it but I was with friends and we were in a rush to eat Breakfast so we could go shopping at a really great antique place, but next time I'll know just to hold off until I have time to eat slowly!!!

  7. It's almost 1am here and of course I'm now hungry! Ate dinner at like 7 30 and haven't had anything since then so I don't know if I'm actually hungry or head hungry. On the bright side, I have a friend staying with me for the weekend who's sleeping on my couch, so I know I won't be tempted to go to the kitchen to get something! That's always a way to keep you from nighttime snacking;)

  8. I could sleep on my side and stomach 2nd night post op. totally comfortable once I got there, but a little painful getting there since your ab muscles are so sore. I also slept on my stomach on top of a soft ice pack with a towel on top and felt really comfortable to me. I'm a week and a half post op and still do that on days when my incisions are sore.

  9. Hey I did it too! I feel so guilty now. I'm so frustrated because everyone's saying how full they are after a little bit of broth or Soup or whatever and I literally haven't felt full one time since surgery. I know you're supposed to feel satisfied and not full but I think I'm satisfied and then an hour later I'm hungry again so maybe I wasn't satisfied? I'm supposed to have a fill in 2 weeks and can't wait!!!

  10. No husband/boyfriend here, but my parents don't know I go on here. Not really hiding it necessarily, but I wouldn't invite them to read my posts or anything lol. My sister does know about the site because she asked where I could get support from other people who have the band but she hasn't been on either.

  11. Mine are like that too! I've been hungry since the day after surgery, so I've been drinking all day long to keep the hunger pains away. Good for hydration but bad for calories; I ate (drank) 1000 calories yesterday! Hoping these severe hunger pains go away soon or hoping they get better once I can eat mushies and solids!
