  1. Being placed on a second blood pressure medication and knew that cholesterol lowering medications were in my future. I feel 42 is still fairly young and I wanted to get rid of the pharmacy sitting on my kitchen counter.
  2. I think you should go in as well meet with the doc and nutritionist to check to see how things are going. I wouldn't get discouraged if another fill is needed, some of the fluid can evaporate over time. Keep up the good work!

    New Bandsters becoming extinct?

After attending a seminar, I started thinking maybe I wanted to go with gastric bypass instead of the band. Then I met with my surgeon and he looked at my current BMI, where he felt I needed to be, my current health issues and my current exercise routine and he told me I would be very successful with the band, though he said it was my choice and he wasn't going to push me one way or the other. I chose the band and I'm only 2 weeks post op and have no regrets.

    6yrs Banded - Chest Pain

Sorry I am newer to this and so no real words of wisdom. But I can tell you a high fiber diet will increase gas! If the increase in fiber is new, maybe back off a little and go slower at increasing it to see how your body handles it and let it adjust to the change slower. Hang in there.

    Yup, Yup, Yup

Congratulations! I wish you the best as you continue your journey!
  10. A suggestion at my support group meeting last night was to add protein powder to pretty much anything you eat. jello/pudding etc. to help sneak it in there.
  11. Are you using protein supplements too? I was having some issues and did some research and protein can be constipating. I resorted to milk of magnesia this week myself. I would think the beans would add some fiber to counteract it. Good luck!

    CHEATER!

I was on liquids only as well. It's tough, but you can do it. My son asked me if he could say things like " this solid food sure is good" because he wanted to stay out of trouble. I told him if he teased me like that I would make him go on a liquid diet with me! Hang in there, tomorrow's a new day!

You are ahead of me as I am only a little over a week out, but at least you have a plan! That's half the battle in my opinion. Good Luck!

    No longer a lapband patient

How awful! I hope you are feeling better soon. Are you still on antibiotics? Are you running fevers? Are you dehydrated? If you still have an active infection and/or fevers that will increase your heartrate, so will dehydration. If you are concerned I would give the doctors office a call sooner rather than later, especially after what you've already gone through! At least talk to his nurse. Good luck!

    Changing my screen

I'm sorry to hear they didn't give you anything stronger for pain meds. That seems kind of unusual, at first you are going to do well because of the meds they gave you in surgery hangs around for quite awhile. I personally felt a little better after putting some ice on my belly. Incisional pain will take a few days to get better. If tylenol is working for you, keep pestering the office! Hang in there!

    Coughing

Hold a pillow across your belly to help support it when you cough. Don't suppress the cough especially if you feel there are secretions you don't want it to turn into pneumonia. Walk, take some deep breaths, drink plenty of water, take pain meds as needed and support your belly as you cough. (that's the nurse in me coming out! )
