My doctor said no driving for a week after surgery. In addition to that I was still on Tylenol with Codeine....so no driving. Have your sister grab a hotel room close by. Good luck.

Sleeved on the 9th and have bad pains on the left side I don't know why?? Can anyone help?I was sleeved 5/8, similar pain...all gas from surgery. Call the doc is pain is accompanied by fever. Walk and sip and you will pull past this.
-
I'm being sleeved at the end of the month...my surgeon says I'll be in the hospital for 3 days. I'm just wondering if that's average?I was sleeved 5/8 at 430pm, went home exactly 24 hours later. I didn't have any additional hernia to repair or gall bladder to remove. The quicker you get home the more active you will be, the quicker you can recover. Good luck.

Sip, sip, sip and walk, walk, walk. I'm a May 8th sleeve and after the second day things picked up for me. Try a different Protein, Crystal light lemonade or iced tea. This will pass soon...
-
I will be sleeved on May 22. I cannot wait! I too hate going out in public and cannot wait until I can feel less self conscious. I am tired of always feeling fat and slow. I am currently at my all time high of 230 pounds. I am 5'4 and gained 50 after back surgery. I hope to lose 90-100 pounds. My surgeon did not start me on a pre op diet. I was just told to "not gain any weight." Has anybody else been told that?
In my experience the pre-op diet helped prepare for after the surgery. It's all about replacing habits with new habits. My pre op was Protein shakes and Protein Bars and one small dinner a day.

I hate when total strangers address me as "Big Man". If I was 6'4"' date=' maybe I wouldn't mind. But I'm 5'6". "Big Man" is just their passive-aggressive way of calling me "Fat Boy".[/quote']I get it, I'm 5'11" and everyone referrs refferred to me as big guy and such. When strangers did it, it would piss me off. I'm on my way to making them eat those words. Lol

I woke up to the worst pain ever. I would hit the button on my morphine pump until I passed out then do it again. I told the recovery room nurse my pain was a 15/10. Amazingly the next day I stepped down and the next was on liquid pain meds I went home with. I was sleeved Wednesday the 8th and yesterday I went pain med free.
-
I was sleeved last Wednesday and I'm really bored already. My kids are keeping me busy though and are happy I'm home more. I haven't been sleeping the same since before surgery so I.have even more time being up early everyday.

Thanks, yes I got Zofran and didn't think about opening up the prilosec. Good tips.
-
Oh and they have me Prilosec but I'm scared to swallow a pill that size right now.
-
I'm at home, sleeved yesterday, so much pain and nausea. I'm slowly sipping Water but I keep getting painful hiccups. Please tell me this will pass quickly.
-
Thanks I appreciate it. I'm taking two weeks off and been doing well with exercise and preop diet so I'm going for no complications.

My surgery is scheduled for May 28th. i have always been bigger than most' date=' my highest weight was 280, I would like to get down to 170-165. My mother is supportive, but my daughters father, and older sister feel I am taking the easy way out. I have not been in the 100's since grade school. So Im looking forward to this new change. I am so grateful to have found a forum that is supportive.[/quote']It's far from the easy way out, it's more like the ultimate commitment you can make to yourself and your loved ones.

I have a 5/8 surgery date. How long did you take off from work before you felt confident to return?

I'm in second week of pre-op diet and my body is hurts. Sore, aching back and pain in legs I never had before. Anyone else see anything like this before surgery?
-
Yes, I felt the same when i was in three month surgery prep program. I didn't lose weight for two of three months and i felt they didn't think i was bought in when i really was. Stick with it, you'll beat this!
-
I had opposite results. I'm in second week of 1000 calorie pre-op diet and I've lost 5 pounds. I'm consuming 3 Protein Shakes, 2 power bars, and one meal of 4oz lean Protein and 2 cups raw vegetables a day.
-
I'm counting down to a May 8th surgery date and I'm thinking about the pain after surgery and what the options are since we will be on a liquid diet. Do we get liquid meds? Anyone know?
-
I dont start my diet until the end of May but my doctor is putting me on 5 shakes per day plus 3 servings of fruits and all the vegetables I want to eat. The 5 shakes are Pure whey from Target. 2 scoops each time.Im nervous about starting that but have started working up to it. I am doing 2 shakes per day now along with regular food and working up each week until I get to the no meet weeks.
Hopefully that will help.
Pure Whey from Target is good. Even with Water it is a good time.

4 weeks out/ no desire to eat
in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Posted
I had surgery 5/8 and I've been doing great but for the last week I have no desire to eat or drink, and no hunger. I'm pushing through it with drinks and Protein shakes.
Anyone else feeling this?
