  1. Patience is the key! I had surgery 2 months ago and I lost 14 pounds after the first week of post-op. Then, I got stuck in weight. I had my first fill and after that, I was still super hungry. I got involved in a car accident a month after the surgery, so I couldn't exercise, but after my second fill (last week) I started loosing again after 2 months of frustration. Measure your calories! I was eating more than I should basically because I was super hungry but I'm feeling super good with my second fill and more in control to make good choices :)

  2. Lolarose13 - Thank you for sharing your story with PCOS! Sound like my story - except I've been dealing with it for 20 years. My BMI is "relatively" low as well (31) and I'm "insulin resistant" AND I'm tired of being "fat". Its robbed 20 years of my life/history and I recently realized that I've removed myself from history in that I RARELY allow pictures of me for last 20 years because of the weight. I've heard others say that they've been able to get off all their PCOS meds and with the weight loss, they don't have PCOS anymore. I'm PRAYING that this works! I am SO fearful that it won't "work". I go for my first pre-op with my surgeon today (Wednesday) and I hope he can share some light on other patients in similar situation that have been successful. My surgery is next Wednesday (17th). So you had WLS two months ago - how is it going? How was it? How much have you lost? How much do you want to lose? Thanks for sharing!

In 2 months post-op, 18 pounds. For me is a little slow, but progress is progress anyways. I was involved in a car accident (my first accident ever :() so I can not exercise at all for at least a couple of months, and I'm going to Physical Therapy, so I guess I'm taking it a little more easy that I was expecting it. I had my second fill a week ago, and it's helping! the first fill was nothing, and before this second one I was really hungry and feeling not banded at all. The begining of post-op was super hard! but at least I didn't gained any weight, and you ladies know that with PCOS you eat anything and next day you gained 2 pounds. I'm hopeful for the future!

  3. Hi all! I have PCOS too, I was diagnosed 10 years ago when I started to have weird periods, facial hair, dry skin and gained 60 pounds. After 10 years of many failures trying to loose my extra weight, I decided to get banded 2 months ago because I'm planning to have a family soon and it was going to be extra hard with my weight. I was not that big when I got banded (BMI 31) but just thinking about all the failures trying to loose weight in the past makes me tired haha. Also I have insuline resistant, which is associated with PCOS. This disease really sucks but the doctor took all my meds away the day I got banded and my "cure" will be take all this extra weight off. So far so good :) and good luck to all if you!

  4. I have PCOS too! And this fact was one of the reasons to get banded. I was banded 4/10 and I'm only 14 pounds down because I had a car accident after I was banded and i can't exercise (I'm in banders hell now when you are hungry and fighting with yourself to not overeat). Hopefully I can keep loosing. My goal is to loose all my extra weight to start a family. Also I have notice my skin is changing and getting shinier :)

  5. I'm scheduled for my first fill today. For some reason I'm really nervous. I wasn't nervous about the surgery so this is throwing me for a loop. I thought about canceling the appt but have chosen to ignore whatever is telling me to do that and am just going forward. I know it's for the best' date=' not sure why I'm so nervous?? Happy thoughts sent my way would be appreciated!![/quote']

It's piece of cake! It will take less than a minute. I'm going for my second one in a couple of weeks. First fill was really little 0.5 cc and already had 3cc with the surgery, but it didn't give me restriction at all, so probably this one will be a little bit more. I'm not in a rush to the green zone but I'm super stuck with my weight lost and feeling hungry so a little help would be nice :)

  6. Green zone-just right not hungry, good weight loss, Portion Control, patient satisfaction. Yellow zone-need more Fluid hunger between meals, eating large portions, not losing weight Red zone-poor food choices, regurgitation, discomfort while eating, purr weight loss, night cough

I just had my first fill today, and I feel like I have a lyon inside! haha. It was super simple! not painfull at all, they only thing is I freaked out when the nurse asked me if I wanted to feel my port, I was avoiding to even know where it was after the surgery lol. They put 3cc already in the surgery, so today they put 0.5cc, total of 3.5cc. They said that it seems I'm doing ok, so they are trying to get more restricction over time. I think that's good for me, not going for a dramatic fill. My next one (if I need it) will be in 6 weeks :)

  7. Tomorrow is my first fill! Just A month post-op. I really need it, I feel that everyday I have less restriction and I'm eating a little more. I haven't gain any weight but my goal is to lose it all! I can't wait to start loosing again like right post-op :) despite this fact, I'm feeling great! So much active and with so much energy, love it!

  8. I'm sorry sweetie :( I remember you were banded the same day than me! So maybe just go with the normal Mac and cheese but 1/2 cup and some salad and balance the calories the rest of the day. But don't feel bad! I was all over Pinterest when that site started and I totally "nailed" it lol. It took me a looooooot of experimentation to get things right and really, don't feel discourage, keep experimenting, if it doesn't work go with the normal but little and you will see that in no time you will start finding and making cool things to eat!

  9. I totally agreed. Take it easy with the band, it's hard but you should be eating softer food. I'm 3 weeks and a half post op and I'm starting to eat normal food but I have already 3cc in my band and I feel horrible if I ate more than I need :( (I had one episode and I'm so afraid to this happening again that I prefer not to eat more than a cup of anything). And yesterday I found out that I started to have a running nose as soon as I needed to stop! That was a good sign. Hang in there, the good thing about the band is that everyday is a new day and with the correct adjustments, you can do it!

  10. Hello friends! I'm 3 weeks post-op from may 10th and I'm starting to have normal food. I'm stuck in my weight and I ate more than usual tonight because we ate out and I feel that discomfort I'm my chest :(. That's my sign to know I ate a little more so I can not eat more than 1/2 cup of food. I went out tonight to a sushi place and I ate some tuna and a couple of mini mini rolls and I wanted to die! But beside this onetime episode, I'm feeling great and super active! I really want to go exercise but I have my doc app on June 7th and my fist fill that day, so only a week to go :) I'm glad everybody is doing good, you all my may banders are really special to me :)

  11. i also started around a 32 bmi- 152cm and about 75kg. i lost about 21kg over 5 months' date=' then i started exercising and didn't lose more weight, but dropped a dress size or two. i'm gaining again, but it's because i'm expecting. :D i think after the birth it will be easy to get back down because i had no trouble maintaining before i got pregnant.[/quote']

Hello! We have almost the same numbers! I'm almost 3 weeks post-op and I have lost 14 pounds, I'm kinda stuck though...I will have my first fill June 7th. 21kg is amazing!!!! Any advice for me? :)

  12. I am in the same boat. I lost 11 pounds within a week. Gained 1 back and a week later staying at a 10 pound loss since surgery. Haven't lost in a week. But' date=' don't stress. We are still healing and have plenty of time to lose! Hang in there I know it stinks to not see the scale dropping![/quote']

I'm in the same boat! I had lost 14 gained 2 back and I'm stuck for more than a week :( I was banded 05/10/13. It really suck! I'm afraid to start gaining again :(

  13. I was about to be put to sleep for my endoscopy to locate the hernia so that way my insurance covered part of the lap band since my insurance excludes bariatric but covers hernias.

oh wow!!!! congratulations for the baby! I had the EGD in the same place than you, I imagine the nurse running with the results! anynways, babies are always a blessing and the best wishes for you and the baby!

  14. Officially banded as of 10am this morning!!

Just got home about 40 minutes ago, I was gonna try to respond quicker but my mom ran my phone to the ground with the battery lol. Anyway, I'm doing pretty good and haven't had any issues so far and it feels good to be home and be resting that it for sure. I'm really sore around my port site and really tight overall with all my incisions. Taking sips of Water and I already put down a 20oz Water already since I left the surgical center lol. I don't think I have any gas pains thus far but im burping a lot so I hope I don't have to deal with it later this week *fingers crossed*!! But I got on the scale before I left and I weighed 317lbs and I was 339lbs before I started my pre-op diet 2 weeks ago!! Pretty excited and building that confidence up. I can't wait to get healed up and start moving and make myself a healthier person and get in shape!!

I'm on the other side! Now to start healing up!

    Thanks for the support!!

    -Amine

Congratulations!!!!!!!!!!!!! and the best wishes from the other side :D
