    Denial advice

Hi Izzy! Crossing the fingers for you! If you don't mind, what insurance do you have? In going for a revision consultation next week and I'm barely 35 BMI with PCOS, insulin resistance and high cholesterol. I know appeals are frustrating but I'm sure you can win this one! 2. Hi David! How was the surgery? How was your surgeon? I'm looking to going to Bridges for a consultation and I was wondering how was your experience with them. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  3. Mostly inability to swallow solid food and certain meds (big metformin pills), acid reflux, night cough, vomiting, and constant pain and pressure in my upper back and chest. I had an emergency unfill back in November and now I can eat some solid foods but I'm still vomiting/slimming every other day. Feel awful. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  4. Hi! I'm in the same boat. Banded 3 years ago and I'm having tons of complications with the band. I didn't loose a lot of weight with the band because all the problems and my current BMI is 33. I have an appointment with a doctor here in Arizona in a couple of weeks but I'm super nervous about my BMI, as most insurances will consider a revision with a BMI higher than 35. I feel we should be a candidate for a revision regardless of our BMIs if the lap band removal is medically necessary Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  5. Great info! Thank you guys! Same story here. Banded 3 years ago, lots of compilations, band got deflated and I gained most of the weight back. I have a question about BMI. Mine is 32 right now and I'm afraid I need to keep gaining weight (!) in order for a doctor to take me. Anyone had this experience? Also I have Blue Cross of CA PPO. 6. Hi all! I'm going for my first consultation with to see if I'm eligible to have a revision surgery from Lapband to Sleeve and I'm concerned about my BMI. Right now, my BMI is 34, and I know my insurance will cover the surgery if the revision is medically necessary. I'm having the worst experience with the band (chest pain, GERD, stuck with everything, vomiting, etc). I was banded 3 years ago and I lost 19 pounds with the band in some point, mostly because I was unable to passed food, but as soon as my band got deflated due to complications, I gained all the weight back. I still have high cholesterol, POS and insulin resistance. Anyone have had a revision done with a "lower BMI" in Arizona? Thanks! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  8. Hi, so do they require this or not? I'm currently have Aetna but I changed my benefits to Blue Shield CA starting April 1st. I know they will covered the procedure but I don't know about their other requirements. Do you have a website or document I can look at? Thanks! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    I saw my band today!

I have only lost 22 pounds in a year, mostly in the last 6 months, because, gosh, I was so hungry right after the surgery and with no restriction at all. But after a couple of fills I started to loose weight and I got more energy and I started to swim about 2 months ago, so that's helping too! Maybe is not a huge weight lost, but this is the first time I'm been loosing weight ever! So if you are loosing, and not gaining, that's all you need! Now, I know I can do better, eat better and excercise more and seeing my band today for the very first time it kinda give me motivation to loose 22 more! hopefully in less than a year You can do it! it might take a while, but you are on your way!
  12. So I'm a year and almost 2 months out of surgery and I went for my annual fluoroscopy today, and everything looks great! they even made a video for me! I'm really excited that everything is ok, and happy to see how my band is working for the first time. I'm a slow loser, but I'm still loosing! and I got a new fill today, and I'm so sure this is going to put me in the right happy place. I feel really hopefull today so I want it to share it with you guys!
  13. Hello everybody! I just came back from my 6 months check up after the lapband and I'm so happy with my lab results. Everything went down to normal! No more high cholesterol or triglycerides problems but my testosterone was high so they put me in medication again for my PCOS. Beside a birth control, they doctor decided to put me into Metformine again, to improve my insulin levels and to see if I can keep loosing weight (I've been stuck for a while) but since I can not swallow that huge Metformine pill anymore, now I will be in liquid Metformine called Riomet, anyone else taking this? I'm excited because I hate the bigs pills before and I think liquid Metformine sounds much easier.

    Riomet? (Liquid Metformine)

I always had problems taking big pills, even before the lapband. I was in 1000 milligrams a day, and even with 500ml a day, I just can handle the trauma of swallowing them haha. I just don't want to take a risk to get stuck with a huge pill! (Also, My doctor recommended this, so coming from him, I will give it a try). I think is great to have an option of liquid metformin. I picking up my prescription today in the afternoon

    Sushi?

I love Sushi, but after my last fill a month ago, I feel really uncomfortable eating it. I have to cut them in pieces, even the tiny rolls. I tried to eat one roll, and even though I chew and chew, I felt stuck

    Any Arizona bansters?

I'm from Arizona also. I got banded may 10th with doctor Nirmul. Doing good so far. 4th fill and started to feel restriction a week ago, so I'm thrill! I had a car accident a month after surgery so now I will start exercising. I'm slow but steady

    I Feel Great!!!

I love your story B-52! I always remember your story about being in hell for almost 6 months before you started losing weight and it keeps me going and having faith that I will be there soon! I'm almost 4 months out, and God knows how hard it has been! I'm was not losing anymore and completely hungry like pre-banded mode, until 3 weeks ago. I went for my 3rd fill and it put me in 5,2cc and I lost 2 pounds in 3 weeks. Maybe that's nothing for some people but with that kind of hunger, that was a huge accomplishment for me!. Today I went for my 4th fill, and put me in 5,7cc and I finally start to feel banded! and feeling full even with soup! I think I'm getting closer to the green zone, and you taught me that being patient is the key....thank you so much and congratulations!
  19. I was banded 3 months ago with TR. I have United Health Care and it doesn't cover any Bariatric Surgery. True Results told me that if I need a hernia repair I just need to pay $5500, +$1500 copay to the surgery center and $400 for the EGD to see if I had a hernia. I paid all of this cash. So 2 weeks ago I got a bill of $2000 for anesthesia and a letter from my insurance saying I owed $25000!!!!!! I talked to TR and they transferred me to the surgery center billing department (external to them!) and they told me to scan the bills and send it to them so they will help me. That was 2 weeks ago, and I don't have a response. I don't know what to do, I'm buying a house and I'm so afraid to have a huge debt now anyone with the same situation?

    Aetna

I have the same problem! I just posted a thread about this. Please let me know if you know something. I used True Results with United Health Care.
  21. Congratulation ladies!!!! I just got my 3rd fill today, total of 5.2cc., I'm hoping I will get there soon
  22. Hello! I'm 2 months 3 weeks out and this week I started to have some pain in my left side. I started to wear work pants yesterday (yes! a NSV for me ) but I feel that my left side is kinda tight and it hurts like a cramp. It's not super painful, but I notice I slow down when I'm walking and it's mostly disconfort. It doesn't hurt at all if I'm sitting or laying down, is only when I'm walking. I wonder if my port is "moving" or something. I want to know if this is kind of normal. I have a fill next week and I'll mention this to the doctor.
  23. Thank you hazelsbliss for such a didactic response, love it! So here is a picture where my pain is located. I've had 2 fills already, and my port is slighly to my the left side (from my own left), above my belly button, it's super easy to locate. I'm glad that nothing really important is located where I feel discomfort. I'm wondering if the port moves a little in the position, or if you make any effort with those muscles, it can cause some discomfort.

    Cheated

I guess we all have cheated. For me has been about balance. If I know I'm only eating between 1000 and 1200 calories a day, if I get a cookie, that became one of my 3 meals. I'm cheating less and less taking it this way because I'm still not in my green zone so for me is way better get some chicken and salad instead of 1 cookie. At the end I feel more satisfied. My doctor always tells me that i shouldn't deprived yourself, this is a life time commitment and if you restrict everything is going to be just another diet and failure is guaranteed. Portion control and balance, this is my new diet for success
