I was banded June 26th and the same thing is happening to me! I lost about 15 right off the bat, but have held steady since. I eat about 800 calories a day too. I don't understand why I'm not losing. ugh. Very annoying and frustrating. My first fill isn't until August 1st, but I don't understand how that will help when I'm already eating less than 1000 calories per day.

Fertility has been the unexpected benefit of weight loss for me. After 20+ years of infertility I woke up pregnant at 43 years old.
Having a child has been a powerful motivator to continue to drop the pounds--he will be 21 when I am 65 and I want to be around to see that day.
I'm down 140# and my bariatric doc says now is a good time to focus on maintenance but I feel that dropping another 30 to 40 will increase my chances of longevity.

I always have tried dieting and exercising but always gained it back double now was the chance of a lifetime with the help of a band. I was banded on 6/26/13 felt great as soon as i started my pre-op diet i weighed 255 and now am 214 cant wait for my long term goal 130-140. Good luck to everyone.

It has helped me to feel in control of me, and not feel like I'm being controlled by food. I have control of MY life now, and it gives me the confidence to know that I can do anything I want if I just put my mind to it.

Thanks Missy! I actually went and bought some baby food for an easy to go meal. I was just worried since it wasn't explicitly laid out in my directions that I was doing something wrong

Yes, in fact a lot of us did exactly what you're doing.
Think of puree as the constancy food needs to be. So, if you can puree it, you can eat it.
One of my favorites at that phase was taking some chili and pureeing it with a bit of cream cheese. I also took chicken and puree'd it with chicken broth.
...I called it the "baby food" stage lol.

I have the Magic Bullet...I love it! Use it almost daily.

This kind of post is just so frustrating. again...this is not a slam at George...it's a slam at the doctors who perform these surgeries and do not clearly explain to their patients just what to expect. I read posts all the time from people who have no clue what to expect. It's only when they read responses from other bandsters that they get an idea of what this surgery actually means. What is wrong with the doctors?? Even my bariatric group which is supposed to be one of the best...they were the ones who did Gov. Christie....did not give me a blow by blow of what being banded really means. Fortunately, I understood the concept....smaller portions and eating till satiated, not full but there are plenty of people out there who think they'll never be hungry again and will not have to deal with the head hunger...which never goes away. Ugh....OK, done with my rant. Thanks for letting me vent.

Ok seriously... why in the world would you eat that 38 hours after surgery?
Weren't you given a post op diet to follow?

It IS worse than quitting drinking... You don't need alcohol for survival, but you do need to eat. We ALWAYS have to practice our addiction, but we have to control it. It's a curse!

If you have already eaten the food there is only one thing you can do. Go and burn it!!! Exercise!

Holy cow... I am in shock. I almost cried when I saw the scale this morning because I haven't a seen a number under 200 on it since I was 17 years old.
When I started this journey 18 months ago I was 421 pounds. Today, for the first time in 23 years, I AM IN ONDERLAND!!!

Phew I survived today and it wasn't bad. I have been avoiding social situations that involve food cause I'm newly banded and few people know and i need to get my grip on this and don't want to eat the wrong thing and cause damage to my stomach and my band . Im following the rules as best as i can. I was so anxious about this bridal shower only my best friend knows I was banded. Nervous wreck to be out in public not eating or drinking alcohol and u know what? It was all in my head. Nobody cared If I drank Water all day or that I had very very little on my plate. I'm on mushies so I picked foods I could fork mash as recommended by my doctor and I survived. I ate the way I should with the band although I had 3 tiny baby spoonfuls of mouse but its ok . I have to live with this band and still be me. I did have a hard time waiting the 20 minutes to drink after eating and tried my best. It surprises me how little I can eat and be satisfied!!! The best part of the day was not being so horrified when we took a group shot down 26 pounds and such difference I didn't notice until the picture. June 1 I went to a bridal shower and hated the me in the photo we took because I couldn't believe it was me. 26 pounds gone and feeling great can only imagine how different I will look at the wedding in October. Even already committed to being the designated driver so I don't waste my calories drinking
Just had to share no matter how supportive those that know are not being in my position I don't think they understand the feeling of being the new me. Trust me i have tons of emotions going on .... I'm different but I'm not but I am if that makes sense:) thanks for listening ....

I didn't after my Lap Band surgery, but I did have an infected incision where a drain was after I had a strangulated hernia last summer.
Being as it hasn't cleared up with a course of antibiotics, I would request they do a culture on it to make sure you don't have a staph infection. That's what I ended up having and once they got me on the appropriate antibiotics it cleared right up.

My little dog was stuck to my side for the first 2 weeks after surgery. I'm not sure he understood what was going on, but he knew something was not right with me. He would curl up in bed next to me, as close as he could get, and just watch me as I slept. He was my little nurse. Dogs are the best of friends!

I called the billing department, spoke with a manager and they said they would charge me for the original quote of $1800. Just wanted to share that it pays to do your homework beforehand and to call and ask to pay for the original quote only. Saved me 1k!
