Where do you guys get these protein shots? I definitely need to get them. The drinks fill me up to much! And not hungry enough to eat enough food...

Thanks to you all for such support! It's an ongoing battle but I'm not about to give up, when i started this journey I had the eye on the prize and still do! Just bumps in the road hopefully .. Wasn't done... created new ones while on blood thinners was rushed to a big city hospital they wanted to do thrombectomy where they suck the clots out I didn't want that. I also spent time in icu and 2 other visits in the hospital I now have 3 clots in my legs, one vein is completely occluded. They switched my thinner now ive been giving myself lovenox injections, im a nurse anyway.. I also get a ct scan more dopplers etc on Thursday this week to check the status of the clots. I've seem hematologist along with a cancer doc because alot of cancers cause unresolving blood clots. They did find a mass now that needs checked. Its been one thing after the other. My liver functions are extremely elevated, I barely have enough blood to sustain life so I was told, on meds for that, now lupus readings are high. Ongoing doctor visits. But im happy the weight loss is kinda somewhere along for the crazy ride...

I have never been clot free since day one. I have them in left leg and bilateral lungs, my lungs are "showered" w clots as the docs tell me. They all worsened plus, created new ones

Yea the orals didn't work for me now il be on injections until further notice. I guess if I beg him he may let me, we will cross that bridge when we get there I guess cuz I don't really need a fill yet just thinking ahead...

Well long story short, got lap bad surgery, got blood clots in leg and lungs, ICU visit, blood thinners.. Second hospital visit had to be rushed to a city hospital, all the clots still there all worsened, created more clots in my leg while on blood thinners.. Now being checked for cancer, clotting disorders, etc.. Question is... Anyone have a fill while on blood thinners? Massive amounts of blood thinner injections I give myself twice a day I'm not talking pills or nothing. My surgeon says he will not give me fill while on the thinners for obvious bleeding reasons... But if I have to be on them forever if I have a clotting disorder then I never get a fill... I don't want one now but what if I do then this was kinda pointless. I know many can lose the weight without a fill but I may want one sometime I mean that is the idea.... Just wondered if anyone has had uncomplicated fills while on blood thinner, specifically lovenox injections.

I must be the only one who hates Unjury it's awful to me. I've been through every kind, shipped it back for a replacement 5 or so times I lost count but I tried every single one, they are all disgusting. The only one I haven't tried is the cheese sauce because it's a seasonal item. I wish I could be like all you that like it. The texture, taste, huge scoop amount and all to get only 21 grams of protein ughhh. Can't do it, I literally couldn't swallow any of them

And not to mention NO excersise allowed due to all the clots in my leg so another strike against me! Frustrating...

No problem at all with salads here! But I also have no fills. 2+ months post op.

I was against TPA for obvious reasons along with the Thrombectomy. We are going to try this first then of course as a life saving measure il explore the other options. I'm sorry you've had so many complications but I'm also Glad to know I'm not alone and have this forum for support! Thanks to all.

I had Lap band 6/13/13, 5 days later admitted to ICU with blood clots in my legs and lungs. bunch of treatment, blood thinners, etc, and I was just trucking along, tracking calories, protein n fluid intake.. Doing the treadmill 4 x week, Then my leg/foot swelling got so bad this past week I thought I better get checked.. Well still have all the clots! Worse actually in my legs and lungs, my blood thinners did not work, my body didn't dissolve them, was emergently shipped by ambulance to a city hospital to care for my situation.. I feel like how the hell am I supposed to focus on my band eating etc when I'm still full of clots!! This has been awful. I mean I lost weight my surgeon is very pleased with that aspect but all the complications is it worth it?? Ugh. I could've died twice now. I'm a nurse as well and know too much I think. I'm still sticking to portions n not drinking w meals, all the rules, haven't hopped on the scale cuz I've been kinda busy stayin alive. Lol, just wishing I could get past all this so I can hardcore get focused back on just the band!! I have to give myself injections now for prob 6 more months this journey of blood clot hell just seems never ending..l don't want to deal with it all anymore, now birth control is out of the question forever, so i have to explore all those other avenues which is complicated by the blood thinner use.. it's just such a domino effect all these complications! I do love shopping in my closet for the clothes that are now fitting but want the other stuff to go away!!

Thank you all for the support. I chose the blood thinner xarelto which required no bloodwork, first mistake, but the docs were pushing for it. Now l will be on the lovenox injections for prob 6 more months. Thrombectomy n IVC filter are the next step. I do not want the clots cutout and the clot busters mis73 you had the docs were against that the first go round., the injections now are my treatment now and then if my body continues to refuse to dissolve the clots then we will explore something else I suppose! My birth control issue is complicated by the blood thinners because the only thing I can get is the copper iud which was mentioned, but uteran perforation n bleeding is a complication with the blood thinner... Ugh see the domino affect I'm talking about. Im hanging in there. Hoping to resolve it all n get back on track. The lap band was the least of my issues honestly!

I just had a yummy salad and il be 6 weeks post op Monday..no trouble at all. Went down like it always did pre-band.

30 pounds down in 20 days! Pretty exciting.

So im 4 1/2 wks post op, now on regular foods as tolerated. I have had absolutely no trouble with anything I've tried to eat. I read alot about everyone getting stuck on eggs, some meats and esp bread products wraps etc. I've eaten pork chops, bread, had a wrap today, eggs everyday, etc. I mean I don't WANT to get stuck or have issues, im totally cool with it but I just wondered is this normal for anyone else having no trouble on anything? Even had broccoli that wasn't very well done n still just chewed alot n was fine. I have no fills obviously cuz im only a month post op, do the stuck issues start after I get some fills maybe?

I finish chewing a bite, swallow then get my next bite ready n set the utensil down for just another few seconds. Works fine for me. Prob not a minute but I haven't had any trouble.

My port is directly under my longest incision.

Heather im glad we are similar. Guess we will find out after fills what happens, if I need fills. Would love to go without.. all in due time we shall see..

Thank you ajtexas. Phoenix friend, I take capsules fine prilosec and actigall for the gall bladder. I was scared and didn't for 2 weeks but now I take them fine twice a day with a drink. The actigall is semi large capsule about the size of one fingertip to the first knuckle if that makes sense, skinnier but that long. First week post op I was told I had to crush them or open the capsules then post op week 2 your permitted to take them whole ( I just gave it an extra week). As far as vitamins I take chewable.

In my original post I stated I didn't want to get stuck just wondering why it was so easy for me to get everything down. I've never went over my alloted portion size, I chew very thoroughly and slow and take at least 20min to eat a half cup of food. I eat 3 times a day as instructed 60grams of protein and hover around 500 calories a day, track my water intake, protein intake and my fitness pal for cal intake. Doing everything right as far as I know. Just wondering if anyone was as "lucky" as I've been with having no trouble getting all diff types of food down easily. I've been scared of breads so I stayed away for a while but did fine w it now so I guess im good. I know the purpose of the band, and i'm full for hrs between meals w no fills. Im a nurse and overly researched it for yrs so I think I have a pretty good grasp..

Yes I lost 30lbs in 20 days. Haven't weighed myself since because i was instructed not to due to swelling, healing n ppl getting discouraged cuz the weight fluctuates etc so im waiting til my 6wk post op appt w surgeon on the 29th. I had to weigh myself just that one time though

I definitely stick to exact portions, Im not overeating at all, it's just that the little I do eat goes down so easy, I feel nothing, I can take bigger drinks than I thought I would be able to, it's as if I have nothing in me if it wasn't for the incisions and the port I can feel. I'm not hungry between meals so I don't want a fill, just wondered if anyone else had it so easy. Only time I get an over full feeling is with protein shakes not food.. Weird..

I bought Unjury unflavored protein because I could stomach another protein shake. Dreaded the thought of it. Well $50 for the stuff and it's the exact texture, color of my vanilla protein I had. I have tried adding it to the stuff they say ( yogurt, your fav beverage, soup blah blah.. It's nasty. Period. Don't waste your money. Can't mix It with anything cuz the scoop is such a huge amt that you have to mix in a freaking 1/4 or 1/2 cup of something, it just does not work!

Well luckily plan b for me I was able to return the unflavored and replace both containers with any other flavor. I chose classic chocolate, no more money just an exchange for the containers I originally bought. Waiting on the chocolate to come and hoping it tastes good. Everyone is different I know, I just could not stomach it. If the chocolate sucks il move onto plan c I guess
